Welcome to the Winneshiek Update Page. This site is undergoing daily changes. While making additions and improvements accidents may happen. I will make every effort to keep them to a minimum.  Please let me know if I seem to be missing some obvious mistakes.

May 2012 Additions and Improvements

Uploaded 80 obits to facilitate their Transcription by volunteers

Updated the Frankville cemetery table.

Created a new Winneshiek County Obituaries index.

Updated the Winneshiek County Civil War Records to improve their readability

March 2012 Additions and Improvements

Updated the GPP Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 4065 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek GPP database.

Updated the Obit Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 4580 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek Obit database.

February 2012 Additions and Improvements

The Phelps cemetery table has been expanded to 4400 entries. Among these entries are links to over 4000 new GPP records. The new GPP records are the result of a 100% photo survey of the Phelps cemetery completed in August of 2011.

January 2012 Additions and Improvements

Phil Schloss phil@red-castle.com has provided 2 Hesper Civil War Era Photos

John Matter has sent me over Locust Cemetery 50 obits that have been incorporated into the Winneshiek County obit board, the locust Cemetery GPP database and the Locust Cemetery tables

December 2011 Additions and Improvements

KC Bolton-Potter has made it her personal conquest to organize the Burr Oak Cemetery records. During December she sent me 90 updates and corrections that I have incorporated into the Burr Oak GPP database and cemetery tables. Please feel free to contact either K. C. or me about any information that you would like to incorporate into the Burr Oak cemetery information.

Uploaded 2000 Phelps cemetery photos to the GPP Database.

November 2011 Additions and Improvements

Added a Photo of 66 of the early pioneers of the Big Canoe Lutheran Church.

October 2011 Additions and Improvements

Added a Photo index. This an index of people whose pictures are linked to obits, Gravestone photos, and Marriage tables.

Updated the Obit Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 4399 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek Obit database.

September 2011 Additions and Improvements

Re-linked the previous versions of two Over-The-Border Fayette county cemeteries. These two cemeteries are being upgraded and are not currently available on the Fayette Pages.
They are: St. Peter's Catholic and St. Lukes Catholic

August 2011 Additions and Improvements

Expanded the Baker School  Cemetery table to include 3 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Baker Cemetery. The Baker School Cemetery table now documents 3 graves.

Article that describes how Decorah was selected as the County seat of Winneshiek County. Normal link is on the Main Index Page.

Expanded the Freeport Cemetery table to include over 150 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Freeport Cemetery. The Freeport Cemetery table now documents over 300 graves.

Updated the Obit Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 4357 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek Obit database.

July 2011 Additions and Improvements

Updated the GPP Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 3636 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek GPP database.

Expanded the Kendellville - Eddy  Cemetery table to include over 350 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Kendellville - Eddy Cemetery. The Kendellville - Eddy Cemetery table now documents over 450 graves.

Expanded the Lutheran Decorah  Cemetery table to include over 2000 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Lutheran Decorah Cemetery. The Lutheran Decorah Cemetery table now documents over 4000 graves.

June 2011 Additions and Improvements

Expanded the Springfield  Cemetery table to include 323 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Springfield Cemetery. The Springfield Cemetery table now documents 349 graves.

May 2011 Additions and Improvements

Expanded the Saint Bridget  Cemetery table to include 598 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Saint Bridget Cemetery. The Saint Bridget Cemetery table now documents 613 graves.

March 2011 Additions and Improvements

Expanded the Oak Hill Fort Atkinson  Cemetery table to include 261 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Oak Hill Fort Atkinson Cemetery. The Oak Hill Fort Atkinson Cemetery table now documents 284 graves.

Updated the GPP Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 3228 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek GPP database.

Updated the Obit Surname index. These updated tables implement structured searches for 4231 unique Surnames in the Winneshiek Obit database.

February 2011 Additions and Improvements

Expanded the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Cemetery table to include the 197 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Canoe Ridge Lutheran Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 247 graves.

Expanded the Teslow Farm Cemetery table to include the 5 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Teslow Farm Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 5 graves.

Expanded the Hesper Public Cemetery table to include the 793 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Hesper Public Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 917 graves.

January 2011 Additions and Improvements

Added a Death Notices table. This table contains 451 death Notices for the period from July 1919 through June 1921

Expanded the Union Prairie Cemetery table to include the 379 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Union Prairie Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 426 graves.

Expanded the East Glenwood Cemetery table to include the 109 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the East Glenwood Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 178 graves.

Expanded the Pagin Cemetery table to include the 30 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Pagin Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 61 graves.

Expanded the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery table to include the 727 new  photos that were taken while conducting a 100% photo survey of the Hesper Lutheran Cemetery. This cemetery table now documents 793 graves.
