DECORAH INSTITUTE.
The Graduating Exercises of the class of 1894.
|
The graduating exercises of the class of 1894. of the Decorah Institute, occurred last Friday evening at the Methodist church. The auditorium was crowded to its capacity by fellow students of the graduates and friends of the school and of education. The pulpit platform was decorated with plants and flowers and the Grand Opera House orchestra was present to lend musical charms to the occasion. The wall supported a tasteful decoration in blue and white— tire class colors—and under it was a banner of blue on which was inscribed in white the initials “D. I.” and “Graditim" the class—motto. The exercises were opened by music by the orchestra and prayer by Rev. Henry Grant.
|
The class was composed of eight young ladies and gents—
|
Breckenridge, Anna |
Deters, Barney H. |
Garden, Mary |
Gossman, Andrew T. |
Grant, Edward G. |
Hook, Ellis J. |
McKinley, Kate E. |
Munson, Henry W. |
Space forbids a summary of the remarks of each and comparison would be invidious. The general character of each selection was high, and was a credit both to the graduates, and the institution from which they go. Messrs. Hopperstad and Halvorson rendered two beautiful musical selections, and the evening closed with benediction by Rev. Grant.
