OSSIAN'S POETS The History of Ossian would not be complete without the inclusion of examples of poems composed by local authors. Over the years, copies of the Bee carried many verses. Selmer Grovdahl was, by far, the most prolific of these writers. One of his poems--A Tribute to Calvin Coolidge—was read into the congressional record by Congressman Haugen. Another, Seasonal, was included in Harlan Miller's column —Over the Coffee--in the Des Moines Register. We have been unsuccessful in getting Sam to admit to a favorite verse, so we have selected one of his works that we feel is an excellent composition. We think "The Leaf", by Jean Felix, shows considerable talent for writing by this young high school scholar. While "Life in Review" expresses our own circumstance and is, perhaps, typical of many retired persons. | ||||||||||||||
