The town treasurer's report shows receipts and disbursements in balance at $5,232.26. The municipality's indebtedness has been reduced to $16,500 for bonds issued to pay for the waterworks.

The public school graduates this year included; Catherine Figge, Ruth Bothel, Ruth Boyle, Esther Spillman, Ella Knudsvig, Gershom Wells, Hosea Bullard, Leo Lansing, Harold Bullard, Fred Brockamp, Fred Klein and Fired Helwig.

Dr. Juen installed a modern x-ray and electric treatment cabinet, termed "the finest on the market." We recall that the doctor's old machine, perhaps the controversial apparatus used by Dr. Wells and "successfully" adjusted by Dr. McLean, was donated to the public school. It stood in the hall outside the high school assembly room. The older students had a fine time playing with this machine. They joined hands, forming a human chain between the electrodes, while cranking up the generator till the tingle of an electric shock was felt. Only the boldest of us small fry in the 1st room, dared, or were permitted, to participate in the fun.

The double murder of the Van Brocklins at their cabin in Moneek dominated the columns of the Ossian Bee. Marshal Grimstad had been one of the first officers called to the scene and attorney Allen served as a lawyer for the defense. B. F. Kneeskern was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

His two trials attracted wide public interest throughout the state.

Two of Ossian's debaters, Torstein Kvamme and Delbert Witt, won first in their divisions, but lost to Severson. Torstein went on to win the sub-district competition at Osage and advanced to the district contest.

Helen and Oliver Sand headed the winning team in selling subscriptions of the Country Gentleman magazine. These sales drives were a source of needed funds for the classes in the local schools. We recall that Dr. Schneberger was considered a sure-sale for any school activity. There was often a race by contestants to be the first to arrive at the dentist's office.

The Figge Auto Company offered to re-bore Ford motor blocks and fit with new pistons and pins for only $15.

Jos. Becker & Son advertised a 98¢ aluminum utensil sale. Twelve bargains are picured in their ad, ranging from a coffee percolator to an eight quart water pail.

F. A. Figge offered Oshkosh B'gosh overalls for $1.59. Their ad states that the clothing is backed with this maker's garantee; "If ever a man or boy comes 'back to you with a pair of Oshkosh B'gosh overalls and claims they have not been entirely satisfactory, whether he has worn them a week or a year; no matter how unreasonable the claim may seem, make them good with a new pair and send the old ones to us for credit—and that goes b'gosh!"

The members of the public school staff are; J. A. Lien, superintendent; Lela Curran, principal; Lois Curran, ass'st. principal; Helen Fisk, Music; Loretto McGary, 7th & 8th grades; Isabel Brown, intermediate; and Ruth Grace primary.

The Waukon Republican and Standard hosted a meeting of the newspaper editors of northeastern Iowa. A special edition contained short- sketches of visiting journalists. This was the descritpion of the Bee's editor; "T. F. Schmitz is the only man in northeastern Iowa who is so blooming busy that he hasn't time to write a check for a 'lizzie'. Out side of being mayor, chief of police and minister plenipotentiary of southern Winneshiek county, he gets out a snappy newspaper in the
