Before they married Martha graduated from Nurses Training at Norwegian American Hospital in Chicago. After graduation she worked at the Norwegian American Hospital and then joined the Navy as a Navy Nurse. She served in hospitals at Great Lakes, IL, Corpus Christi, TX, Camp LeJeune, NC and Long Beach, CA. Martha returned to Decorah and worked at the Decorah Hospital until her marriage.
Charles and Martha helped organize the Norwegian Society of Texas in 1975. Charles served as vice-president, president and membership chairman. The Norwegian Society of Texas has become a large organization with chapters in Dallas, Arlington, Ft. Worth, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio. Charles was instrumental in getting King Olav of Norway to visit Texas for the first time and to be the speaker for the Norwegian Society of Texas banquet in 1982. Martha served as Social Director. She spoke with the Director of the State Fair of Texas and helped start Norway Day at the State Fair in 1975. Norway Day at the State Fair is now an annual event.
Rosendahl, Gerald and Jacklyn (Onsager)

Gerald Phillip Jerry” Rosendahl was born in Decorah, IA to Merlin Phillip and Elsie Lavonne (Moen) Rosendahl. His father was born in Glenwood Twp., Winneshiek Co., near Decorah and his mother was born in Decorah. They were married 21 Apr 1946 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah by Dr. T A. Hoff. Jerry's brothers and sister are: Harold Lester; Marc Wayne; and Merlene Marie . All 3 were born in Decorah.
Jerry married Jacklyn Sue Jackie” Onsager. Jackie was born 26 Nov 1948 to Oscar Helmer and Harriet Louise (Telford) Onsager. Oscar was born in Allamakee Co., near Waukon, IA and Harriet was born in Decorah. They were married 19 Jan 1948 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church. Jackie has one sister Judy Renee.

Jerry and Jackie were married 7 Jun 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Decorah by Rev. David Streffeler. They have 2 children: Tina Marie, born at Clovis Air Force Base, Clovis, NM; and Tammi Lynn, born at Goose Air Force Base, Goose Bay, Labrador, Newfoundland, Canada. Both girls were born while their father was in the U.S. Air Force. Tina Marie was married to David Brien Reinardy 21 Jul 1990 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Hastings, MN by Rev. William Strom. Tina and David have 2 daughters: Laura Elizabeth and Heather Ann. Tammi Lynn is a fifth year senior at the University of MN studying to be a registered dietitian. She will be married to Dale Alan Goetzke 3 Aug 1996.
Jerry attended the country schools of Winneshiek Co., then 2 years at the Mabel, MN High School. He graduated from the new North Winneshiek High School in May 1967. He took a one-year course in Bookkeeping and Accounting at Northeast Iowa Community College at Calmar, IA. Jackie attended Decorah public schools and graduated from Decorah High School in May 1967. She attended Morningside College, Sioux City, IA and Luther College before she was married.Jerry served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. Besides the two bases his daughters were born at he was also at Lackland Air Base, San Antonio, TX and Sheppard Air Base, Wichita Falls, TX. Before entering the service and for several years afterward he was a radio announcer at KFIL in Preston, MN and WMIN at St. Paul, MN before changing careers. He worked at 3M in St. Paul and was the Fire Chief in Woodbury, MN
