Roche was killed in a tractor accident 31 Mar 1981 on their farm. Marian married Norbert 28 Nov 1987. They live on the farm. They have 26 grandchildren.

Richert, Nikolous and Mary

The Richerts came to America in 1883 from Alsace, France. Nikolous and Mary had 6 children: John, Nicholas, Jacob, George, Kate, and Philip. They settled in Hesper Twp. and became successful farmers. They attended St. John’s Lutheran Church at Locust, IA.

In 1901 their son Jacob was united in marriage to Josephine Matter of Locust. Their son Harold was born in 1912. He married Lavanda Thompson of Frankville, IA in 1950. Harold and Lavanda farmed near Hesper until 1980. They had 3 children: Clarian, Linda and Philip. Clarian married Michael Wilder of Spring Valley, MN. She is currently High School Principal at South Winneshiek School in Calmar and he is music director at the same school. They reside in Calmar. Linda married Randy Jennings of Wadena, IA. They have 2 daughters, Lori and Angela. Linda is employed at Luther College and Randy manages a lumber yard. They reside in Decorah. Philip married Joyce Hanson of Hesper. They have 2 sons, Nicholas and Collin. Joyce is an elementary teacher. Philip works the family farm his grandparents purchased in 1901.

The Randall Richter family

Randall, Constance, Nathaniel, Melanie and Mychelle.

Constance Noecker, the only daughter of Melvin and Myrtle (Casterton) Noecker, was born at the Smith Memorial Hospital, Decorah. This is now an office building known as the Smith Building. Connie graduated from Decorah High School and then followed in the footsteps of her older brother, Calvin, and attended the Gem City College in Quincy, IL. She is a certified jeweler and a professional hand engraver. On 12 Apr 1980 Connie married Randall Richter of Lime Springs, IA. Randall is a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, IA. He is a pork producer. Connie continues to be employed at M.G. Jewelry Store (formerly Noecker's Jewelry Store) in Decorah. The Richters have 3 children: Nathaniel Lawrence, Melanie Louise, and Mvchelle Lowelle. The Richter family lives on a farm near Lime Springs.

Riehle, Herny and Emma (Held)

Herny Riehle and Emma Held February 15, 1898

Herny Riehle was born 28 Jul 1871, the son of Conrad and Anna (Jarosh) Riehle who farmed near Spillville, IA. Emma Held was born 25 Jan 1875, the daughter of John and Caroline (Hess) Held who also farmed near Spillville near the St. Clement Church.

Henry and Emma were married 15 Feb 1898. They lived first on the west side of Ft. Atkinson, IA and then purchased a house in Ft. Atkinson and reared 3 children there: Henrietta (Schissel), Mildred (Huber) and Wilford. Herny was a foreman on the railroad for many years.

Emma died 2 Jul 1930 and Herny died 7 Jul 1939. They are buried at St. Clement Catholic Cemetery.

Riehle, Julius and Phyllis (Novak)

Julius Robert Riehle, the 7th child of William (son of the 5th settler of Spillville, Conrad Riehle) and Christina (Soukup) Riehle, was born on the farm between Spillville and Calmar. He attended St. Wenceslaus School in Spillville and farmed with his father. Julius was 22 years old when he rented the farm from his parents who had moved to Spillville. On 20 Sep 1955 Julius married Phyllis Marie Novak, daughter of John F and Emma
