Erica is married to Paul Davis. They live in Ossian. Jeremy is married to Julie Bullerman and they are both in the U.S. Air Force.

Les and Leora moved to Castalia in 1979. They continued to go to the farm where Craig and Linda were farming until the farm was sold in 1989 to the Brincks brothers. Les died 13 aug 1991 at the hospital in Waukon. He is buried at Pleasant View Cemetery near Castalia.

Murphy, William and Ruby (Powers)

Ruby Mary Powers was born 8 May 1904 at Ossian, IA, the first child of Edward and Bertha (Hangartner) Powers. She attended Ossian De Sales school and graduated in the class of 1922 from De Sales High School. She worked several years in the Brink Variety Store in Ossian. Ruby married William “Billy" Murphy at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Chapel in Ossian 15 Jan 1927. They lived their entire lives in Ossian.

William Murphy was employee then manager of the Ossian Elevator most of his working years. He was known for his Irish sense of humor and smoking cigars. Ruby cared for her elderly mother when she became ill. Ruby enjoyed cooking and taking care of a large garden.

William and Ruby were parents of 2 daughters: Patricia Mary and Ramona Margaret.

William and Ruby celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 15 Jan 1977. The Murphys sold their home in 1977 and lived with their daughter Ramona. Ruby died 5 Aug 1983 and Billy died 19 Mar 1986. They are buried at De Sales Catholic Cemetery.

Murray, Daniel and Mildred (Pavlovec)

Mildred Mary Pavlovec was born in the Decorah Hospital, Decorah, IA to Daniel Edward and Grace Isadora (Huber) Pavlovec. Daniel Edward was born in Ft. Atkinson, IA. Grace Isadora was born on the Huber farm in Washington Twp., Winneshiek Co. Daniel and Grace were married 27 Feb 1954 at St. John Nepomucene Church, Ft. Atkinson. Mildred Mary’s brothers and sister are: Daniel Phillip, Mary Frances, Michael Joseph and Joseph James.

Daniel Eugene Murray (b. at St. Joseph Hospital, New Hampton, IA) is the son of Eugene Edward and Mary Katherine (Kelly) Murray. Eugene (b. at Lawler, IA) married Mary (b. in New Hampton, IA) on 31 Aug 1949 at St. Patrick's Church in Jerico, IA. Dan’s brothers and sisters are: Jane, Margaret “Peg”, Gerald, Therese, John, Katherine and Mark.

Mildred Mary “Millie" and Daniel Eugene were married 10 May 1975 at St. John Nepomucene Church, Ft. Atkinson. Dan and Millie have 2 children, Samuel Anthony and Katherine Marie.

Samuel b. in LaJunta Medical Center, LaJunta, CO) attended St. Benedict’s Catholic School in Decorah until 8th grade, then Decorah Community High

School where he graduated 28 May 1995. Sam worked at Jack and Jill Food Center In Decorah on weekends and during summers while he was in high school. He also worked at Decorah Sales Commission and Lanesboro Livestock Barn and on his family's farm. Sam played football for Decorah High School and was very involved in the Decorah FFA Chapter. Sam owns and raises cattle and sheep and is restoring his second car. He is currently attending Iowa State University in Ames where he is majoring in Animal Science.

Katherine (b. in Winneshiek Co. Memorial Hospital, Decorah) is an 8th grader at St. Benedict’s Catholic School in Decorah. Katie serves mass for St. Benedict's and she plays the tenor saxophone in the band. At the Decorah Middle School Katie plays on the volleyball team, is a wrestling cheerleader and runs on the track team. During the summers Katie plays for the Decorah Ponytail Softball League. Katie is a member of the Washington Prairie Peppers 4-H Club. She also loves to swim, ride her horse, attend sports events and go to dances.

David Alaric Musser was born 28 Jul 1898 in Pleasant Twp., Winneshiek Co. His father David H. Musser had just purchased 40 acres of land about a half mile east of the present Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church. Here the family was making their new home, clearing the land and sawing lumber for buildings from the woodland acres.

Since David Alaric’s father’s name was also David, the citizens in the Decorah area generally called him Alaric to avoid confusion. Alaric who was the youngest and his 4 sisters Mabel, Grace, Blanche and Hattie had to travel 2 1/2-3 1/2 miles daily to attend rural school in Pleasant No. 7 about one half mile north of the Canoe Store.

My uncle Alaric loved the outdoors all his life. He loved to hunt and fish in the surrounding area. His home was only a short distance from the Upper Iowa River.
