Leibold, Frank and Mary (Dobrodinsky)

Frank Leibold was born 13 Jan 1867 at Spring Valley, MN, the son of Peter and Catherine Leibold, immigrants from Germany. Mary (Dobrodinsky) was born 14 Aug 1879 near Fort Atkinson, the daughter of Albert and Antonia Dobrodinsky, immigrants from Bohemia. After their marriage they farmed two and one half miles southeast of Fort Atkinson and raised a family of six children. They include Edward, Irvin, Adella (Mrs. Herbert Kipp), Evelyn (Mrs. Art Riha), Cletus and Rita (Mrs. Leo Hack-man).

George Leibold

George Fred Leibold, son of Henry and Anna (Sudtelgte) Leibold, was born 14 Sep 1900 at Fort Atkinson, IA. He attended the local schools and worked on the family farm with his brother Hugo. He also served in the military in 1942-1943. During his life, he worked building roads and bridges, CCC Barracks, and for the Rath Packing Co. In the early 1950’s he went into partnership with Cyril Barta to purchase a tiling machine. Together they tiled many fields in northeast Iowa. They owned the business over 10 years. George was injured when the boom and bucket of the machine broke and fell on him cracking his skull. He retired and spent the rest of his life helping on the family farm of which he was part owner. He died 20 Sep 1991 at the age of 91 years. He is buried in the St. John’s Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.

Henry Leibold was born 10 Dec 1865 in Fillmore Co., MN . He was the son of Peter and Mary Catherine (Goldbach) Leibold, natives of Germany, who came to America about 1855 and located in Minnesota for a time before settling in the Fort Atkinson area in 1868. He married Annie Sudtelgte (b. 1 Jul 1868 at Festina, IA) on 30 May 1893 and they became the parents of eight children: Olivia and Eleanora (twins), Hugo, Bertha, George, Arthur,
