Iowa State University and St. Thomas College in St. Paul, MN. Steve was married to Linda Wyss 6 Jun 1981 in St. Paul. Their children are: Tyler Steven, Greta Ann and Kassi Rose. Steve is working at the St. Paul Co. in Operation Support. They reside in Lake Elmo, MN.

Joyce was born in Bluffton Twp. She attended her first year of school in a rural Bluffton Twp school, then North Winneshiek Elementary, Junior High and High School. She is a graduate of Winona State College, Winona, MN. She married Donald Todd in Winona 21 Aug 1982. She married Robert Nihles, Jr. of Platteviile, Wl at Burr Oak, IA. 22 Jul 1989. Joyce teaches vocal music and piano at the Potosi, Wl school system. She resides in Platteviile.

Durwin and Marilyn are members of Burr Oak Lutheran Church where he is president of the Church Board. Durwin belongs to Elks, IOOF, Farm Bureau and Sons Of Norway. Marilyn is a member of Decorah Genealogy Association, Winneshiek Co. Historical Society, Farm Bureau Women’s Chorus and the Rebekah Lodge. Durwin has always been a farmer. Marilyn taught in a rural school in Canoe Twp for three years. They reside on the farm they purchased in Burr Oak Twp. in 1960. The five Kallevangs have all traveled to Norway, the country of their ancestors, and all except Steve have traveled to England, the home of Marilyn’s ancestors.

Jens Kallevang

Jens Olson Kallevang was born in Laerdal, Norway 31 May 1844, the son of Ola Jensson Nese and Kjersti Jensdtr Li. His father was born in 1805 and his mother was born in 1806. They were married in Norway. Gunnvor, Jens Olsson Nederlo, Kirsti, Johanna and Sonneva (twins) were Jens’ brothers and sisters, all born in Laerdal. Jens, his parents, sisters (except Kirsti who died young), emigrated to America in 1862. His brother Jens emigrated in 1868. Jens married Torjbor Vangsness 31 Jan 1876. She was born 12 Sep 1847 in Sogn, Norway to Jon Eriksen Vangsness and Gertrud Kinne. Her father was born in 1810 and her mother was born in 1819, both in Norway. 'fbrjbePs brothers and sisters were: Jon, Nils, Erick, Johannes, Anfin, and Christina, ail born in Norway. The family emigrated in 1867.

Jens and Torjbor had six children: Olai. Johan (John), Christian, Julius, Edwin and Julia Kristine. Olai, the oldest, was born in Glenwood Twp, Winneshiek Co, IA 24 Feb 1877. He attended rural schools and Valders College in Decorah, IA. He married Marie Mamie Thompson of Decorah 31 Oct 1907. Their children were: Karl (25 Aug 1908-26 Aug 1908); Ann Elizabeth (29 Dec 1911-2 Jan 1912); and Thomas (24 Jun 1914-6 Jul 1914). Olai and Mamie homesteaded in Toten, MT. Olai died in Toten and Mamie came back to Decorah and lived there the rest of her life. Olai had been a rural teacher and Clerk of Court in Winneshiek Co. before moving to Montana.

Johan (John) J. was born 8 Dec 1879 in Glenwood Twp. He married Nicolena Macelia Ingebrigtson of Fertile, MN 22 Apr 1914. They were farmers in Winneshiek Co. until moving to Decorah in 1953, where they died. Their children are: Thelma Elizabeth Buntenbach of Knoxville, IA and Durwin Jens of rural Decorah. Durwin and his wife, Marilyn, live on their farm in Burr Oak Twp.

Christian Jens was born 5 Sep 1882 in Glenwood Twp. He married Ragvild (Rachel) Halverson of rural Decorah 26 Oct 1915. One son Elmer was born. After the death of Rachel, Chris married Ida Lubke of Decorah 19 Feb 1921. The family moved to a farm near Milltown, Wl. After the death of Ida, Chris moved to Centuria, Wl, close to his son Elmer’s home and family. Chris died in Centuria. Elmer and wife, Marge, reside in Amery, Wl.

Julius J. was born 11 Feb 1887 in Glenwood Twp. He married Helga Mathilda Kirkeby of Decorah 29 Oct 1908. They farmed in Winneshiek Co. until Julius’ death. Helga
