Ruby Loney and Olaf Fretheim wedding November 27, 1920

Olaf was reared and educated in Madison Twp., Winneshiek Co. He served in the Army in World War I and was wounded while serving in France. After he was discharged he and Ruby farmed in Madison Twp. When Olaf and Ruby retired from farming they moved to Decorah. Olaf drove a gas truck for Winneshiek Co-op and Ruby was a cook for the Decorah Schools. They were members of Madison Lutheran Church. Olaf was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ruby in the Auxilary. Olaf and Ruby had 3 children: Herbert (m. Ruth Bjerkvig), Olive (m. Harold Sims) and Arlene (m. Ervin Rasmussen).

Herbert married Ruth Bjerkvig  on 17 Mar 1951. They had 6 children: Wayne, Carol, Warren, Connie, Ruth Ann and Wesley.

Olive  married Harold Sims 24 Jan 1942. They had 3 children: Donald Harold (stillborn Apr 1944), James, and Kathy.

Arlene married Erven Rasmussen 20 Jun 1948. They had 2 children: Viann  and Gary .

Olaf died 3 Apr 1971. After his death, Ruby lived in an apartment for several years with her cat “Fluffy." She moved to the Aase Haugen Home where she lived about 6 months before she died 9 Sep 1982.

Warren Lee Fretheim was born in Decorah, IA, the son of Herbert L. and Ruth (Bjerkvig) Fretheim.

Warren married Linda E. Lowe 5 Sep 1986 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Nashua, IA. Linda was born in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Barth) Lowe of Ionia, IA. Warren and Linda have 2 children: Amber Marie, and Kyle Lee.

Warren lived with his parents until he bought a house in Ridgeway, IA. He helped with the farm work at home and with the neighbors until he began working at the Winneshiek Co-op in Ridgeway. He has worked there the last 19 years. He now drives the Feed Mill truck. Warren likes sports, bike riding, playing on a softball team and watching football on television.
