Albert attended the Burr Oak School. After graduating from 8th grade in 1915 he and his brother Leif attended Waldorf Business College in Forest City for 2 years. As a young man Albert clerked in the Burr Oak Mercantile Store. Fie was confirmed 27 Oct 1912 in the Hesper Lutheran Church by the Rev. William Rasmussen.

Grandfather of Florence Price Erickson

Albert married Florence Price 2 Jul 1919 at Burr Oak. On their honeymoon they went to Britt, IA, by train to visit some Erickson cousins. Albert's brother, Bill, and Florence’s cousin, Flossie Price, were their wedding attendants.

Grandmother of Florence Price Erickson

Florence was born in Winneshiek Co. near Burr Oak 23 Dec 1896 the daughter of Marion Francis Price (19 Nov 1869-16 Sep 1948) and Alice (Landon) Price (25 Feb 1870-22 Jan 1956). Marion and Alice were married 12 Mar 1895. Florence had one sister Frances Marjorie born 17 Feb 1901 and died 30 Mar 1901. Florence attended the Lost Nation School, Burr Oak #8. After finishing 8th grade she attended Valders College in Decorah to prepare for teaching school. She also clerked at the Burr Oak Mercantile Store. Florence took piano lessons and her parents gave her a George P Bent piano, the same “George P Bent” who went to Chicago from the Burr Oak area and made a name for himself in the piano business. Florence recalls going to Sunday School and church, a distance of about 2 miles, sitting beside her mother who held the horses’ reins. The buggy made a squeaky sound on the dirt road as her mother lifted the reins to urge the horses onward. Florence was blessed with a strong, pretty singing voice which she used in church choir work and special programs all her life.

Albert's family lived south and west of Burr Oak about 2 miles.

Marion Price

Father of Florence Price Erickson

After their marriage Albert and Florence lived in the first house south of Andrew Erickson’s homestead for a year. This was later known as the Newhouse place. When their home (east about a mile) was ready they moved into this new house where a new barn already stood. Albert rented this farm from his father and after Andrew died Albert bought out the heirs.

Albert and Florence lived on their farm 65 years before moving into Burr Oak in 1984. Albert raised corn, oats, hay, hogs and cattle. Fie loved horses and kept them even after he purchased one of the first tractors in the community. They kept sheep until they moved into Burr Oak. The ewes that raised lambs all became “pets” to Albert as he fed and petted them daily. He milked an av-
