Leonard married Iona Rocksvold 15 Sep 1946 at Decorah, IA. Iona was born in Glenwood Twp., the daughter of Peter and Ida (Berge) Rocksvold. Leonard and Iona had one child: Darrel Elliot. (See Darrel and Mary (Schlee) Crawford history).

Leonard served on the Frankville School Board and Frankville Cheese Factory for many years. He was a volunteer fireman for 30 years, a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church and its choir, the American Legion in Postville, and a 20 year member of the Luren Men’s Chorus. He died 13 Aug 1994.

Iona is very active in church activities and in community affairs. She has been treasurer of the Frankville Street Light Association since 1960. She has been employed with the Northland Agency on Aging since 1984. Her hobbies are singing with the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau Womens’ Chorus, gardening and her church activities.

Lynn B. Crawford

Lynn Barlow Crawford was born in Frankville, IA 27 July 1890 and died 3 Feb 1955. He married Ruth Marston 30 Nov 1916 at Earlham, IA. Lynn attended the Frankville Public schools and Valders College in Decorah. He engaged in farming throughout his life in Frankville Twp., Sections 25 and 26. For 20 years he was associated with the USDA farm programs and served as office manager of the Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Service for 2 years prior to his death. Lynn was a member of the Frankville Ind. No. 1 school board for 43 years. He was a member of the Frankville Presbyterian Church and served as treasurer of the church for many years.

Lynn was the son of Thomas J. and Helen (Cavin) Crawford. Thomas J. was born in Frankville in 1862 (d.1940) the son of Thomas and Louise (Sherman) Crawford. Thomas died in the Civil War. Louise Sherman was born in Canada, the daughter of James G. and Isabel (Clark) Sherman who settled in Frankville in 1852. Helen (Cavin) Crawford (b. 1858, d. 1932) was the daughter of Theodore and Julia Cavin of Waukon, IA. Thomas J. and Helen had 4 children: Stella (m. Waters); Lynn B.; Irving L.; and Charles C.

Ruth (Marston) Crawford

Ruth (Marston) Crawford was born 29 Dec 1894 in Cherokee Co., IA and died 14 Feb 1981 at the Good Samaritan Home, Postville, IA. She was the daughter of Jasper Everett and Susan (Waters) Marston. Susan (b. 2 Oct 1867, d. 31 Dec 1967) was the daughter of Samuel Waters, Sr. (1833-1926) and Mary Lyons. Samuel was born in County Wicklow, Ireland 26 May 1833. He came to America in 1853 and in 1856 purchased land from the government in Ludlow Twp., Allamakee Co. Ruth moved with her parents and brother to a farm in Madison Co. when she was ten weeks old. She attended the country school across the road from her home, then attended Earlham Academy and the University of Iowa. She taught schools in Madison and Polk counties and then in Frankville where she met her future husband, Lynn B. Crawford. She was a member of the Frankville Presbyterian Church, the United Presbyterian Women and a member of PE.O., Chapter FT. She enjoyed being of service to her community where she served for 25 years as treasurer of the Willing Workers, as a Sunday School teacher and as secretary of the Frankville School Board.

Lynn B. and Ruth had 2 children: Thomas J. and Jean Shirley. Thomas J. (b. 11 Sep 1917, d. 17 Jan 1988) married Jeanne Marie Labadie of Oran, Algeria. They later divorced and he married Dora Collei of Los Angeles, Ca.

Thomas attended the Frankville and Postville Public Schools, graduating in 1934. He attended Iowa State
