Northrop
1907
Leaving his wife destitute with a baby at Boliver,
Missouri, was sufficient cause for Mrs. Grace Jane
Northrop, of Mason City, to secure a divorce from her
husband, Walter S. Northrup, for several years a
prominent abstractor of Winnebago county and a
citizen of Forest City. The divorce was granted by
Judge Smith at Mason City recently. It was a story of
cruel and inhuman treatment coupled with that of
desertion after leaving Forest City. Mrs. Northrop,
who is a daughter of C.A. Griffin, a prominent and
wealthy resident of Mason City, was brought home by
her people. The husband is now said to be in
