The goals of our society
are to promote an interest in genealogy, and to preserve Webster County
records of cemeteries, churches, schools, courthouse documents, maps, family
histories and to maintain a genealogical library.
The Society's library
is supported entirely through membership dues, monetary donations, genealogical
material donations, and commissions from Iowa Genealogical Society's publications
of research records and indexes.
NEWS
FLASH! The Webster Genealogical Society
has undertaken a
very large and important
project. They have begun to walk the
cemeteries and take
digital photos of the headstones.
When this project
is finished, you will be able to purchase a photo
of your ancestors headstone
from the society. Please have patience
until the society is
prepared to fill your request.

Our library is located at 424 Central Avenue, Room 134. Our library is handicap accessible. Conveniently located downtown, close to the courthouse and public library.

Holdings of the Library
Visitors to our society will find a large collection of Webster County books, including histories, city directories, atlases, school, church, funeral home, cemetery records, obituaries which are indexed, newspaper indexes, family genealogies and more.
We have indexed most of our Federal and State Census records.
We have a collection of Iowa records as well as books and periodicals from other states, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, New York, Missouri, Illinois, other countries, DAR and SAR books, many reference and "how to" books.
Copies of all our publications through the Iowa Genealogical Society are on the library shelves.
We have a copy machine, Microfilm reader and printer, and Micro Fiche machines.
There is a complete
card index to our library.

Our library is run by an entirely volunteer staff.
Donations and gifts are tax deductible under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Remember us by your
membership, volunteer time, or donations.
Help us keep the
library growing.
The society will do
research in most situations at the rate of $15.00 per hour,
plus all copy costs,
court house fees and postage.
Membership
Dues to the Genealogical
Society of Webster County, Iowa are for the year beginning
October 1st and ending
September 30th. Dues are $10.00 per year. Your membership includes the
quarterly newsletter.
Meetings
Meetings are held at our Genealogical library on the first Monday of each month beginning at 6:30 PM. Speakers are first, followed by a business meeting. The public is invited.

We ask that you have patience when you correspond as often through the winter months we are short staffed. We do try and answer each query in the order it comes to us.
