Lehigh, July 2,---Jestin Young 64, long time resident of Lehigh died after a lingering illness at his home Monday evening.

Mr. Young was born April 24, 1871, in Lehigh and lived all his life here except five years spent at Spirit Lake and seven years in Colorado. Mr. Young was a well driller and blacksmith until failing health forced him to give up his work.

He leaves his widow and nine children: Guy, Ray, Mrs. Edith Ford, Mrs. Mable Bailey, Miss Verla and Mrs. Clara Bailey of Lehigh; Henry of Louisville, Ky.; Mrs. Jessie Rand of Chicago and Mrs. Merle Ober of Stratford.

He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Alice Osborn of Stratford, two brothers, John of Oregon and William of Oklahoma, and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Outdoor services for Jestin Young were held on the lawn at the McBrayer home at Lehigh Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Boyd of Burnside officated and songs by the Woods family quartet were a part of the service. Members of the quartet are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Woods, Miss Hael and Loren H Woods.

Jestin Edward Young, son of John S. and Melinda J. Young, was born in Webster county April 24, 1871. He went with his parents to Spirit Lake when 5 years old. They lived there until 1881 when they returned to Webster county where he spent his boyhood and young manhood.

He was married at Stratford Jan. 1, 1893, to Miss Clara Leona Young. They made their home on a farm near Stratford until 1907 when they went to Colorado where they homesteaded. They were in Colorado for seven years, when they returned to Iowa and made their home in Lehigh since.

"Jess" was a well driller by trade and had drilled and in earlier day bored wells all over this part of the country. He also drilled wells while in Colorado. He had a blacksmith shop in Lehigh for many years until ill health caused to quit.

One sister, Mrs. Alice Osborn of Dayton, two brothers, John of Kerby, Ore. and William of Drumright, Okla., many other relatives and friends also survive. A more true friend and kind husband and father never lived. His every thought and care was of his wife and children.
