Webster County
Genealogical Society

Welcome to the Webster County Genealogical Society pages.  Here you will find many of the holdings that the society has to offer as well as information on location and hours.  The Society has given me permission to make use of the contents of their newsletters and when I have transcribed something provided by them, I will make note of their contribution with a "WCGS" throughout the Webster County GenWeb site.  If you find any of these items helpful to you, you can thank the generosity of the Webster County Genealogical Society.   KDJ 12/08

The goals of our society are to promote an interest in genealogy, and to preserve Webster County records of cemeteries, churches, schools, courthouse documents, maps, family histories and to maintain a genealogical library.
The Society's library is supported entirely through membership dues, monetary donations, genealogical material donations, and commissions from Iowa Genealogical Society's publications of research records and indexes.

Headstone Photos of Webster County

One of the most significant tasks recently undertaken by the Society was the digital photographing of all the headstones in known Webster County cemeteries.  Last known, the society was working on Oakland cemetery but this will take several years to complete.  You can find the completed cemeteries at the Headstone Photo project link to the left.  The large photos are available for purchase.

Our library is run by an entirely volunteer staff.

Donations and gifts are tax deductible under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Remember us by your membership, volunteer time, or donations.
Help us keep the library growing.

The society will do research in most situations at the rate of $15.00 per hour,
plus all copy costs, court house fees and postage.
