Served on the Iowa Supreme Court from December 6, 1932, when he was elected to complete
the unexpired term of Judge John M. Grimm, until December 31, 1942. He was Chief
Justice for one year.
Born at Fort Dodge, Iowa, October 11, 1889. He was graduated from the Law Department
of the State University in 1913. In the same year he began the practice of law
at Fort Dodge where he continued to reside until coming on the Supreme Bench.
After his retirement from the court Judge Mitchell returned to his private practice
at Fort Dodge.
