Photo 2 - Zach Armstrong and Old Men in Allerton, ca 1907-1910
Submitted by: Margaret Slote

This photo is in pretty bad shape the top is all ripped off and it's water stained. It's glued onto something like wafer board but all the men are identified on the back. I did an internet search on the "COULTER AND CLARKS FAMOUS DOG AND PONY SHOWS" banner that is in the window. The circus history web site said it was in business from around 1904-1910. Not sure of the year the photo was taken but looking at the sign and the outfits and them carrying flags and I would guess between Memorial Day and June 5. To me the ribbons they are wearing looks like the IOOF ribbon I have for another relative I found.

On the back written is
TOP ROW LEFT TO RIGHT
Mr. Jemson or Jenson, Jim Styles, Mr. Harden, Billie Clawson, Mr. Holmes, Daddy Trodgen, Joe Wilson, Shady Reynolds
SITTING DOWN LEFT TO RIGHT
Rush Corbett, Marion Rankin, Squire Timmons, Port Phillips, Luke Halfhill, ?, Zach Armstrong

Submitters note: *Zach was my great great grandfather. Civil War Reconstruction veteran
County Coordinator note: Billie Clawson was William G. Clawson (1841-1928)
