- A former station on the C.B.& Q. R.R. about
three miles east of Corydon.
BENTONVILLE - Est. 1887 discon.
1895. A village and station on the C.B.&Q.R.R.
about five miles northwest of Corydon. Formerly
called Peoria.
BETHLEHEM
- Est. 1852 discon. 1902. A town platted in 1853
in the northeast corner of section 24, Union
Township.
BIG
SPRING - Est. 1857 discon. 1901. A post
office in Sec. 17, Jefferson Township.
BRIDGEPORT
- A former station on the C.B.& Q. R.R. about
four miles west of Promise City.
CAMBRIA
- Est. 1851. A former village and station on the
C.B.&Q. R.R. about seven miles northwest of
Corydon.
CLINTON
CENTER - Est. 1893 discon. 1902. A
hamlet in the southeastern part of section 9, and
the southwestern part of section 10, Clinton
Township.
CONFIDENCE
- Est 1859 discon. 1903. A village in the
southeast corner of section 11 and the northeast
corner of Section 14, Wright Township.
GENOA
- Est. 1856 discon. 1904. A village laid out in
1855 in the southwestern part of section 13 Monroe
township.
GRAINVILLE
- Est 1876 discon. 1882. The former name of the
present village of Harvard. Grainville was also
the name of the P.O.
GRAND
RIVER - Est. 1851 discon. 1872. A post
office in southwestern part of Grand River
Township at or near the location of the present
town of Lineville.
HAPPY
HOLLOW - A hamlet about two miles east
of Harvard in the years around 1900, principally
occupied by coal miners.
HARVARD
- Est 1882 discon. 1953. A former village and
station on the C. R. I. & P. R.R. about five
miles east of Allerton.
HODGE
- Est 1884 discon. 1898. A station on the
C.R.I.& P. R.R. between Allerton and Clio.
KNIFFIN
- Est. 1858 discon. 1903. First a country post
office and after the building of the railway in
1871, a station on the C.R.I. & P. R. R. in
section 18 Walnut Township.
LEWISBURG
- Est. 1857 discon. 1902. A village in the center
of section 20 Clay Township.
LUCERNE
- Est. 1860 discon. 1867. A post office in the
eastern part of Richman Township.
NEW
YORK - Est. 1856 discon. 1903. A
village platted in 1855 in the southeastern part
of section 22 Union Township.
ORLANDO
- Est. 1860 discon. 1862. A post office somewhat
southwest of the center of Benton Township about
five miles west of Corydon.
OVID
- Est. 1891 discon. 1902. A post office in section
19 Union Township.
PEORIA
- Platted as a town in 1853 on the south line of
section 10 and north line of section 15 Benton
Township midway as to east and west of that line
and about five miles northwest of Corydon. In the
late 1880's the name was changed to Bentonville.
SAMVILLE
- Est 1886 discon. 1887. A post office at or near
the later village of Bentonville.
SAXON
- Est. 1888 discon. 1901. A post office in section
25 Clay Township.
SELMA
- Est. 1866 discon. 1978. A post office in section
4 Richman Township.
SOUTH
FORK - Est 1849 discon. 1862. A post
office near the northeast corner of South Fork
Township on the south fork of the Chariton River.
UNA
- Est 1863 discon. 1864. A place in the
southwestern part of Union Township about six
miles north of Corydon.
WARSAW
- Est 1855 and 1861 discon 1866 and 1903. A hamlet
in the northwest corner of Section 8 Howard
Township.
WAYNE
CROSS ROADS
- Est. 1858 discon. 1860. Listed as a post
office in Wayne County, but the location not
found.
