The African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church and parsonage was located on South Avenue C in the 500 block on the west side in Washington. The church was built in the mid-1870s and was called the Shorter Chapel. It was torn down around 1972. (Photo courtesy of the Washington County Historical Society).
