Beranek, Horak, Goetz and Shradel Families

Wencel/Vaclav/James Beranek (1831-1928) and Mary (Blaha) Beranek (1833-1903) Beranek farm at Section 11, Jackson Township. Wencel and Mary (Blaha) Beranek bought it in 1879 when they arrived from Bohemia. Note the couple standing in front of the house.
Deed to the Beranek farm, dated 1879. Wencel's name was spelled different ways, e.g., Vencel, on various documents. He also went by Vaclav, James, and Jim.
The children of Wencel and Mary Beranek: left to right Josephine, Stanley and Antoinette. The wedding of Josephine "Josie" Beranek (sitting) and Anthony Rabas (left) on April 15, 1896. The other couple (right) is unknown. The wedding of Antoinette Beranek and Charles Shradel on February 12, 1885. Their children were Helen, Ida, Clara and Emma.
Circa 1900. Albert and Marie Goetz were married in 1882. They farmed at Section 31 of Iowa Township in Washington County. Albert immigrated from Baden, Germany and Marie immigrated from across the border in Alsace-Lorraine, France. She was under German and then French rule prior to coming to the US. Her parents listed their nationality as German and she listed hers as French. Their children were John R, Mary, Anna, George, and Amanda (Amelia) George and Clara (Shradel) Goetz were married Febrary 2, 1918. They started farming at George's parents' farm in Iowa Township of Washington County. Their children were Faye, John L, Norma, Lanetta, and Donald.
