photo below is complete followed by cutouts in four segments to enlarge
faces. The building in the background is the Masonic Building where
some of their meetings were held. Can you tell us the stores that have been in that building? Also,
do others have Civil War photos to share?
This has been a fun photo to research. We first came up with an approximate date by identifying the 1908 Haynes touring car in the photo. We now learn a reunion was held September 29-30, 1909. A ribbon has 8th, 19th and 25th Iowa Infantry on it. Ongoing research will now take us to the newspapers of that era.
Added for a preliminary comparison is a photo from a postcard taken in 1911 reprinted by the Washington Evening Journal for their Down Memory Lane series.
