Mexican War 1846 - 1848

The Mexican War was started by a border dispute between Texas and Mexico after the United States annexed Texas in 1845. The War started April 25, 1846 when U.S. President Polk sent troops to the Rio Grande border. The war ended when the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed February 2, 1848. As a result, Mexico renounced all rights to Texas and ceded to the U.S. their land which is now part of California, Utah, and Nevada as well as parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming and Colorado.
