J.W. Hoover

J. W. Hoover enlisted August 6, 1861 in the First U. S. Engineer Corps, at Chicago, Illinois. The corps was disbanded in January, 1882; and on the 2nd day of February of the same year. Mr. Hoover reenlisted in Company K, Second Ind. Inf. He was twice wounded at the battle of Gettysburg and lost a leg on the 9th day of May, 1864 at Spottsylvania Court House. Mr. Hoover was in thirty two general engagements. He is now a resident of Afton.
