JAMES HENDRICK
James Hendrick came to Iowa with his parents in the fall of 1855.
They located in Clarke county, and there he grew to manhood and
received his education in the common schools. He served over two
years in the war of the Rebellion, being a member of Company D,
Eighth Iowa Cavalry, and participated in a number of battles,
including Nashville, Franklin, Dallas, Marietta, and was in all the
engagements with Sherman from Chattanooga to Atlanta. He came to
Union county, Iowa, in the fall of 1865, and in 1868 settled on a
farm where he has since followed farming and stock-raising.
