during his spare time, he found his true calling of repairing automobiles.

part of Creston, now known as Green Valley Park. Later they moved to Kent where

he operated his own garage for a short time. He was then offered a position at Ford

Tractor in Creston, where he worked for several years.

to go to dog shows. She, Mindi and Randi became very involved

with showing dogs on the national level. One of her favorite shows

was Westminster Kennel Club in New York City. She beamed with

pride when her daughter Randi and her granddaughter Amanda

qualified to show there; She took great pleasure in taking her

daughters and grandchildren with her to Westminster to enjoy

the sights of the Big Apple.

Black & Tan Coonhounds were her true love. She did as much as she

could to promote the breed, including being an officer in the

American Black & Tan Coonhound Club. While holding this national

office, she gained many close and dear friends. Besides friends,

clients and co-conspirators in troublemaking,

Jeri's survivors include her children Keri Sheffield and husband

Jeff (she always called him her favorite son-in-law just because

he was her only son-in-law!), Bedford, IA, Traci Mitchell; Phelan,

Thomas Mitchell, Phelan, CA; Shelby (Sheffield) and husband Cody

Money, Bedford, IA; Amanda Mitchell, El Paso, TX; Chance

Quillan, Harry Harold (Harvey) -

October 4, 2008 at the Lenox Care Center were held Tuesday, October 7,

2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Lenox. Interment was held

Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Carpenter Cemetery in

Henry County, Missouri. Memorials can be given in Harvey's name. Memories

can be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under

Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.

Harry Harold "Harvey" Quillin was born September 16, 1923, in Montgomery

County, Iowa the son of Vasco Quillin and Claudie (Patterson) Quillin. He grew

up attending rural schools in Montgomery and Taylor counties. At ten years

of age, Harvey's parents divorced and he was placed in the Glenwood State

Hospital School in Glenwood, Iowa where he lived until 1951 when he was

transferred to the Taylor County Home located between Lenox and Bedford,

Iowa. Harvey's father passed away in 1955 while living in Chetopa, Kansas. His

mother passed away in 1984 in Englewood, California. In 1981, Harvey moved

with the other residents to Taylor Ridge Estates in Lenox. He enjoyed

playing bingo, watching baseball on TV, dressing up for Halloween, and loved

going on horseback rides.

Harvey also enjoyed playing the bells and his pen-pals in Villisca. Everyone

truly loved Harvey. In 2005, declining health forced Harvey to move into the

Lenox Care Center where he lived until the time of his death.

Now the time between when Harvey was placed in Glenwood until May of 2000

is quite a story . . . Doris Russell, who is Harvey's second cousin, started doing

some genealogy in 1990 . .. and low and behold, while working on her mother's

family tree she noticed a piece of notebook paper . . . on it was a listing of

seven siblings to her maternal grandmother . . . when they were born and when

they died and how many children they had.  Harvey's father Vasco was listed

as having had a child . . . but there was no other information available . . . .

until Doris started digging , . . and ended up talking with several people along

the way .. .eventually she was put in touch with T.J. Henriksen and Sandy

Helm at Taylor Ridge Estates ..... Harvey went from having the staff and

residents of Taylor Ridge Estates as his family for years and years . . . to

now having two families! One of the most touching times with his new family

began with looking at some family photos . . .Harvey was asked if he knew

any of the people in a certain photograph of three men in hats . . his arms

began to shake and tears filled his eyes and with a trembling index finger,

he slowly pointed to the young man sitting at the far right. Harvey, who rarely

talked, said "That's my Dad", of course everyone cried . . .after all those

years, Harvey remembered!

Left to cherish Harvey's memory are his cousins, Doris Russell and husband

Bob of Raymore, Missouri; and Beulah Jane Journey of Vero Beach, Florida;

other cousins, George Quillin and wife Shirley of Creighton, Missouri; Susan

Granger of Peculiar, Missouri; Rick Quillin of Olathe, Kansas; Mary Quillin of

Harrisonville, Missouri; Donna Quillin of Raytown, Missouri; and Helene Quillin

of Sun City, Arizona; along with many other relatives and friends.

Jane and Seward Quillin, whom he will be buried next to.

Weed, Glenna Mae Lock -

Funeral services for Glenna Weed, age 71 of Bedford, who died Thursday,

October 9, 2008 at the Bedford Nursing & Rehab Center were held Monday,

October 13, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford.

Interment was held in the Washington Cemetery in Gravity. Instead of flowers,

the family requests memorials go to Hospice or a Scholarship Fund at the

school. Memories can be shared with the family on our website at www.

ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to

Glenna's other son, Alan Ritchie, who Glenna mistook for Lonnie eating out of

the refrigerator in high school! Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Glenna Mae (Lock) Weed was born May 23, 1937, in Chadron, Nebraska the

daughter of Glen Lock and Wilma (Fudge) Lock. She grew up spending most

of her childhood and teen years in Gravity, graduating from the Gravity High

School in 1955. After graduation she worked at the New Era Cafe where

she enjoyed dancing. She met Marven Francis Weed in 1958, and the couple

were united in marriage on March 17, 1958. To this loving union seven

children were born: Donnie, Lonnie, Cindy, Kathy, Kenny, Marla and Shellie.

Glenna Mae loved to dance in her teenage years. Her favorite TV show was The

Lawrence Welk Show, with "Tiny Bubbles" as her favorite song. Glenna Mae

was known for her cooking and baking and as matron of the Taylor County

Jail House for many years. More than once it was joked about that some

people came back to jail to get a good meal! Glenna Mae always loved cooking

for her family.  Some of the best times were when she would cook for the

"mowing crew."  Her family  could always depend on her to have a buffet

ready at the drop of a hat. She always kept busy with her kids, grandkids,

greatgrandkids, nieces, nephews and her dear friend, Becky.

Being a faithful 'Bulldog Supporter', Glenna enjoyed watching and

cheering loudly for the sporting events her children and grandchildren

were involved in. Many, many a basketball game she could be seen sitting

in the front row, surrounded by her vocal children's enthusiasm!

Glenna Mae endured many hardships throughout her life. A tragic house fire

that took the life of her three year old daughter Marla; Marven's

unexpected death while mowing; and the tragic car accident that took

the life of her granddaughter Ashley; Glenna also suffered many health

issues throughout the years, however, she always seemed to 'pull up her big girl

panties' and carry on with life, facing each day and each new experience

with that endearing smile and laugh. To Glenna, family was everything and

it showed in the many tasks she did for others, and in the lives of her

children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish Glenna Mae's memory are her children, Donnie Weed and

wife Shannon of Bedford; Lonnie Weed and wife Brenda of Bedford; Cindy

Wilmarth, James Allen -

Funeral services for Jim Wilmarth, age 50 of Bedford, who died Friday,

September 19, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident will be held

Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home

in Bedford. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 with the family greeting

friends from 5 to 7. Interment will be held in the Fairview Cemetery in

Bedford. Instead of flowers, the family request memorials be given in

Jim's name. Memories can be shared with the family on our website at

www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were

entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

James Allen Wilmarth was born March 5, 1958 in Corning, Iowa the

son of Neill and Donna (Nolte) Wilmarth. Jim lived in Brooks, Iowa

throughout his childhood years and attended Brooks Country School.

After closing the country school, Jim attended school in Corning. In

1972, the family purchased the Bedford farm where he currently

lived and moved to Bedford; he graduated a few years later in 1976.

After graduating, Jim worked for his Dad and Uncle Harold at the

Farmer's Elevator in Hopkins, Missouri. While working, he met Pamela

Sue Roberts and was married on March 3, 1979 in Maryville, Missouri.

It was then that Jim inherited his nickname, Willie, with his in-laws

due to their being two Jims in the family. Jim and Pam loved spending

time with their friends and each other.

They loved playing cards and pool, attending dances, riding motorcycles,

and going to the movies. Jim was an avid fisherman. He loved the nature

and spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed going deer hunting with

his friends, especially his dear friend Merrill Davenport. Jim also loved

farming; he was always outside "tinkering" with something. He was known

for patching old things together to make it work instead of buying new.

Jim and Pam started their family in 1982, when their daughter Tricia Marie,

was born on January 4, 1982. Pam recalls that on the way to the hospital

Jim kept saying that he had to have his hair cut before "this baby came."

So on the way to St. Joseph, they stopped in Maryville to get his hair cut!

This will be a time that will never be forgotten as it was the coldest day

of the year when they brought Tricia home. The wind chill was 75 degrees

below that day!

Jim's family became complete when he was blessed with his boy, Bryan

Neill, on October 7, 1985. Jim told Pam that they had the perfect family,

a girl and a boy. He was just as proud as he could be.

Jim and Pam spent the next years raising their family and watching their

children grow up. Many nights were spent playing cards with their family

and friends. At the end of the night; their main argument was, "Whose

turn is it to drive home?"

The next years of his life were spent working for Farris and Patsy Gray

of Bedford; the Lisle Corporation in Clarinda, Iowa and later he began

working at the Maryville Treatment Center as a Correctional Officer,

a position he held for the past ten years. He made many new friends

with coworkers while working there.

His easy going personality allowed him to have many friends in life.

Jim enjoyed a good joke as well passing it along to others: Jim was

always willing to stop and help those in need.

His passion in life was raising his family and being with his friends.

On the farm, Jim and Pam enjoyed riding four-wheelers on nice days.

On weekends, he was known to go gambling with some of his gambling

"buddies." He loved spending time with his little buddy, Quentin Duley,

and watching all the nieces and nephews play. He loved babies and

couldn't wait to hold them before Pam had the opportunity.

Jim and Pam made many memories together; several of these were

made during their travels. They took many of these trips with family

and friends!

Jim especially enjoyed their cruise with brother and sister n' law,

Mike and Julie Duley to the Bahamas' and later they traveled

to Hawaii with friends Jim and Marlerie Florea. Jim was making

plans to go on another cruise for their 30th Wedding Anniversary.

Jim was loved by a large family and many friends. Left to cherish

Jim's memory are his wife, Pam Wilmarth, and daughter, Tricia

Wilmarth of Bedford; a son, Bryan Wilmarth of Creston; his father

and step-mother, Neill and Pat Wilmarth of Forsyth, Missouri; a sister,

Kay Fahlgren of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill

and Elaine Wilmarth of Maryville, Missouri; his mother and father-

in-law, Jim and Sue Barcus of Hopkins, Missouri; along with many

in-laws, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and so many friends.

Preceding Jim in death are his mother, Donna in 1975; maternal

grandparents, George and Lucille Nolte; paternal grandfather,

Vern Wilmarth; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Schmitz; a niece,

Kristen Barcus; and sister-in-law, Cindy Tribolet.
