Bell, Richard (Rick) E -

Richard ( Rick) E. Bell died February 24th, 2003 at his home

in Kirbyville, MO of cancer.

Services were held Saturday March 8, 2003 at 3 p.m. at

the Methodist Church in Clearfield, Pastor Joyce Smith, of Afton

Methodist Church will officiated.

Rick was born November 2, 1942 in Clearfield to Darl H. and

Marietta (Statesman) Bell. They moved to Creston in 1951

where he attended school and graduated in 1961. Shortly after

graduation he joined the Navy where he served on the U.S Kitty

Hawk as a Radar Technician.

He married Judy Smith and to this union one son, Brett, was

born. He worked for the State Highway Commission as a

Surveyor. He later divorced and moved to Theodosia, Mo. and

worked for Naco, continuing as a Surveyor. He worked and lived

all over the Southern States.

In 1985 he married Kay Storjohanm. They lived in Oklahoma

and Mississippi until moving to Kirbyville, Mo. in 1993. Naco

dissolved and for the last 5 years of his life he worked as a grounds

keeper for the Forsythe Schools.

He is survived by his wife Kay Bell of Kirbyville, Mo., and

three sons; Steve, Mike and Brett. A brother, Gaylan and wife

Linda Bell of Clearfield; a sister Sherry and husband Monte

Parrott of Afton, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother in 1992 and

father in 2001. Memorials may be directed to his family.

Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Betts, Sharon Kay Wilmes -

Sharon (Wilmes) Betts, age 58, of New Market, Iowa, died Monday,

April 07, 2003, at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2003, at

Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Loren Daly officiating.

Visitation with the family will be 7-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2003

at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memory Cemetery, New Market,

Iowa. A memorial will be established. Walker-Merrick Funeral Home

is in charge of arrangements.

Sharon Kay Betts was born October 20, 1944, in Maryville, Missouri,

to John Wilmes and Lela (Hardisty) Wilmes. Sharon was a graduate of

New Market High School. Sharon and Lyle E. Betts were united in marriage

June 4, 1977 at the home of her sister. Sharon loved her angels, enjoyed

her bible study, liked music and loved to have company.

Preceding Sharon in death were her parents; and daughter, Angela

(Cissy) Wilmes. Survivors include her husband Lyle of the home; son,

Tim Betts of New Market, Iowa; grandson, Timothy Ryan Betts of New

Market, Iowa; step daughter, Wendy Rowell and husband Steve of

Brownville, Nebraska; step granddaughter, Melanie McMann of Omaha,

Nebraska; step granddaughter, Kendra McMann of Brownville, Nebraska;

step great grandson, Hunter; brother, Larry Wilmes Clarinda, Iowa; and

sister, Judy Alexander of Gravity, Iowa, sister, Connie Silva and husband

Tony of Clarinda, Iowa, brother Mike Wilmes and wife Nora of New

Market, sister Deb Scott of Liberty, Missouri, brother Greg Wilmes and

wife Jan of Bedford, Iowa, many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncls.

Bissell, Margaret Cullen -

Margaret Bissell, age 87, passed away at her home on March

30, 2003.

She was born on December 4, 1915 in Massena to Lawrence

Edward and Alice (Morrison) Cullen. She was a graduate of the

Cumberland High School in 1932 and then she received her

teaching certificate in Atlantic. On April 8, 1939 she was united

in marriage to Ivan Leroy Bissell at St. Timothy's Rectory in

Cumberland, Iowa (Reno). She taught in country schools until her

marriage. She grew up and lived in the Cass County, Iowa. In

1943 they moved to the Mercer Center area in Adams County.

They moved to Corning 17 years ago.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox

and active in the Altar Society. When she moved to Corning she

transferred her membership to the Corning Parish.

She is survived by one son, Denny (wife Darlene) Bissell of

Forsythe. MO. and two daughters; Patty (husband Jim) Bagby of

Maryville, MO, and Rita (Rick Wilcox) Bissell of Smithville, MO.

Brothers: Dick( wife Elnora) Cullen of Greenfield, and Bill (wife

Mary) Cullen of Denison; sister Marie (husband Ed) Cannell of

Laughlin, NV; and sister-in-law Phyllis Cullen of Denver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan in

1988. brother Bob Cullen; sisters Marjorie Calkins and Berniece

Anstey; and an infant grandson.

Visitation was scheduled from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday,

April 2,2003; family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Christian

Wake Service will be at 8 p.m at Coen-Beaty- Pearson in

Corning. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m.

Thursday. April 3. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Coming

with Fr. Dan Siepker officiating. Burial will be at St. Timothy's

Catholic Cemetery in Cumberland, IA (Reno). Memorials may be

made in her name.

Cash, Paul T -

Dr. Paul T. Cash, 91, of Des Moines died Saturday, April 12,

at Kavanagh House Hospice in Des Moines. The family will hold

a private interment at a later date. A memorial serve was held

April 15 at Dunn's Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. William Cash

and Mrs. Helen Phelan Cash; brothers Harold, John and Keith; a

sister, Mildred; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Tyler of Lenox.

He was born July 11, 1911, in Lenox. He graduated from the

University of Iowa as a medical doctor in 1935. He established and

was Chief of Staff for the Psychiatric Departments of the Iowa

Methodist and Iowa Lutheran Hospitals for more than 30 years. He

retired in 1981.

He was a life Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association,

member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American

EEG Society, and life member of the American Medical

Association. He served as a Diplomat to the American Board of

Psychiatry and Neurology and was named to Who's Who in

America. He serve his country as a Major in the U.S. Army from

1942-1946.

He is survived by his wife, Reva (sister of Gladys Tyler), son

Petr Goodwin and daughter-in-law Julie; grandsons Christopher

and wife Katie, Thomas and Patrick; great-grandson Sayer and

niece Mary Cash Straub.

Memorials may be given to Hoyt Sherman Place or to

Kavanagh House Hospice on 50th Street in Des Moines.

Clayton, Alvin -

Alvin Clayton, 84, of New Market died Monday, April 7, 2003

at his residence in New Market, Iowa, following a lengthy illness.

He was born March 7, 1919 in Page County, Iowa, the son of Virgil

Vinton and Florence Anderson Clayton.

On March 4, 1944 he married Betty Keller in Clarinda, Iowa.

Alvin worked for Parris and Dunn in Clarinda, Page County Road

Maintenance, and went into business for himself as a truck driver.

Later, his son Jack joined him in the business. Alvin drove a truck

until he was 72 years old and his health forced him to stop. He enjoyed

hunting, fishing, blue grass music, and peoples' company.

Alvin is survived by his children: Jack Clayton and his wife Debbie

of New Market, Iowa, Sue Young of New Market, Iowa, Christy

Osborn and her husband Bill of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren,

Angie McKay of Coming, Iowa, Tim Clayton of New Market, Iowa, and

Ronda Engel of Tulsa, Oklahoma; great grandchildren, Kirk, Casey, and

Kelsey McKay and Scott Engel; sisters, Geraldine O'Neal and her husband

Melvin of New Market, Iowa, Deloma Robinson of Forsyth, Missouri, Betty

Herzberg and her husband Abe of Riverton, Wyoming; a brother,

Marvin Clayton of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and sister-in-law Bessie Clayton

of Boone, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 1996, brother

LaVern Clayton, granddaughter Anita Young, sister-in-law Norma Jean

Clayton, and brother-in-law Floyd Robinson.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, 2003 at Eickemeyer Funeral

Chapel in Clarinda, Iowa with Rev. John Clark officiating. Burial was in

Memory Cemetery near New Market. A memorial fund will be established.

Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel of Clarinda was in charge of arrangements.

Cordell, Minnie Belle Shepherd -

Funeral services were held for Minnie Belle Cordell, who died

February 28, 2003, at the First Christian Church Disciples of

Christ Creston, Iowa, on Sunday, March 2,2003. Officiating was

Dr. Byron Lamun. Casketbearers were: Craig Cordell, Joshua

Haidsiak, Wade Bolinger, Louis Lumbard, Terry Carroll, Chad

Bolinger, Michael Cordell, Isaac Lumbard, and Jason Moffit. She

is at rest at the Bedford City Cemetery in Bedford, IA.

Minnie Belle Shepherd was born at home in Taylor County on

June, 2 1920 to parents Olive Pearl and Albert Elmer Shepherd.

Minnie was raised in Bedford, IA., and married Cecil Troy Cordell

on March 26, 1939. To this union seven children were born:

Eugene (Slim), Albert (Cotton), Ann, Kay, Richard (Slug), Carol,

and Elinor (Ellie).

Minnie and Cecil moved to Clearfield, IA., in 1955 and lived

there until they moved to Lenox in 1973. After Cecil's death in

1990, Minnie moved to Regency Park Apartments in Creston.

Minnie moved to the Clearview Home in Clearfield in 1999, where

she died on February 28, 2003.

Minnie was preceded in death by her father, Albert Shepherd,

step-father Ira Talkington, mother Olive Talkington; husband

Cecil; two grandsons, Troy Cordell and David Haidsiak, infant

brother; sister Audrey Jefferies.

Minnie is survived by her children: Slim Cordell and wife

Beverly of Creston, I A., Cotton Cordell and wife Gladys of Des

Moines, IA., Jo Carroll of Prole, IA., Ann Haidsiak of Hammond,

Ind., Kay Bolinger and husband Floyd of Diagonal, IA., Slug

Cordell and wife Dianne of Hardy, Ark., Carol Cordell of Ames,

IA., and Ellie Lumbard and husband Spencer of Diagonal, IA; 14

grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a brother Harold

Shepherd and wife Velma of Bedford, IA; nieces, nephews and friends.

Gaule, Earl Edwin -

Services for Earl Edwin Gaule were held Sunday, March 23,

2003 at the Christian Church in Clearfield with Rev. Eydie

Stephens, officiating. The musicians were Jean Huffman and

Andrew Davis. Casket Bearers were Gary L. Gaule, Jr., Stefanie

J. Beeman. Teresa A. Welch, Stoney E. Gaule, Craig A.

Davenport and Travis L. Gaule.

Internment was at the Clearfield Cemetery, Clearfield, Iowa

with Military Graveside Rites by: Woodside Post # 97, American

Legion.

Earl Edwin Gaule, age 82, passed away March 21, 2003 at the

Clearview Nursing Home where he had been a resident since June

of 1998. Earl was born in rural Blockton, Iowa to James Henry

and Mary Elizabeth (Perkins) Gaule on November 3, 1920. He

was the fifth of seven children and grew to adulthood on the family

farm Southeast of Clearfield. He graduated from Benton High

School with the class of 1938.

After graduation from high school, Earl farmed with his dad

until he left in September, 1942 to serve with the Army's 7th

Infantry Division. Many were getting married before leaving to

serve, but Earl told his sweetheart that he had a war to fight before

he could get married. After 38 months, Earl returned from service

in the Asiatic Pacific Theater where he earned the Purple Heart

and was initiated for crossing the equator.

On August 14, 1946 Earl married his sweetheart, Nioma

Lane, at Troy, KS. To this union 3 children were born; Gary Lynn,

Deanna Kay and Alvin Eugene. Earl was an involved, loving

husband and father who also found time for his civic duties. He

was a key participant in the construction of the Clearfield

Christian Church where he was a long time member. Earl served

as Scoutmaster, Midget League coach, Lions Club member,

volunteer fireman and School Board member and President

Patriotism for his country led him to be a lifetime active

member of the American Legion and VFW. He worked at Bailey

Oil Co., Stevenson's Garage and Dannon Elevator; before being

appointed Postmaster of the Clearfield Post Office on December

21,1950 by President Harry Truman. He retired from the Post

Office at age 55 due to disability from Parkinson's Disease. Earl

had a good sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. He doted

over his grandchildren and loved visiting them or having them

spend time with Nioma and him in Clearfield.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mary, son

Gary, sisters Marie (in childhood) and Bertha, brothers Clifford

and Lloyd.

Those left to cherish Earl's memory are: his wife Nioma,

daughter-in-law Mary, daughter and son-in-law Deanna and

Marian Davenport, son Alvin, grandchildren Gary, Jr., Teresa

(Mrs. Andrew) Welch, Craig (wife Rachel) Davenport, Stefanie

(Mrs. Robert) Beeman, Stoney (wife Heather), Travis; great

grandchildren Catherine Davenport, Taylor, Merik, and Aidea

Sisters Mabel Wood and Darlene Mobley, and many nieces,

nephews, cousins and friends.

Hogan, Dennis L -

Funeral services for Dennis L. Hogan, age 54 of Creston. were

held March 25 a the U.D. of C. Church in Prescott with Rev. Dr.

Jeanne Groom officiating. He passed away on March 22 after

battling cancer. Private family interment services were scheduled

at Evergreen.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Jayne; daughters

Heater LeAnn Hogan of Chicago and Brooke Suzan Hogan of

Fontanelle; son Justin David Hogan of Kansas City, Mo.; and a

brother, Dean Allen (wife Linda) Hogan of Lenox.

Dennis was born on April 25, 1948 in Creston to Maurice L.

and Grace C. Ross Hogan. After graduating from high school, he

attended two years at Southwestern Community College in

Creston.

On June 28, 1970. he was married to Jayne Green in Prescott.

Dennis was a steel bender at Cardinal Glass. He was a former,

mayor of Prescott and a member of U.D. at C. Church at Prescott.

He was also a member of the Prescott Commercial Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Norma Jean

Tanner in 1995; and several aunts and uncles.

Hufnagel, Mark Allan -

Funeral services for Mark Humagel, age 35, of Lenox, who

died Monday, February 24, 2003 were held Friday, February 28

2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christian Church in Lenox. Interment

was held in the West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. In lieu of

flowers the family requests memorials be given in Mark's name

Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of

Lenox.

Mark Allan Hufnagel was born July 8, 1967, in Corning, Iowa

the son of Ernest Hufnagel and Vera King Humagel. Mark grew

up in the Lenox area attending his first year of school in Lenox. He then

attended the Jefferson Development Center for the rest of his education,

graduating in 1986. After graduation, Mark started spending time at Taylor

Ridge, and after a few months, he decided it was time to move there for

good.

Mark was a people person. He loved to visit, interact and give people a

hard time. Mark enjoyed music of all kinds, particularly religious and polka.

His favorite movie was the "Wizard of Oz". Mark really looked forward to

holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween. During Halloween, Mark

especially enjoyed dressing up as different characters, like 'Zorro'-

'Roy Rogers'-'Frankenstein' and a 'Witch' to name a few. Mark

always knew when his birthday was coming around, and he made

sure everyone else did too! Mark had a special bond with his

grandmother Ruth, spending as much time with her as possible.

Before moving to Taylor Ridge, he attended church with her every

Sunday. Mark was a member of the Lenox Christian Church.

Left to cherish Mark's memory are his parents Ernie and Vera

Hufnagel of Lenox; two brothers, Duane Hufhagel and wife Nancy

of El Paso, Texas, and Duane's children, Debbie and David of

Minnesota; and Mike Hufnagel and wife Lana, and their children

Shad and Shannon, all of Manhattan, Kansas; two great-nephews,

Cody and Collin; one great-niece, Quinn; and a host of friends.

Preceding Mark in death are his grandparents and several aunts

and uncles.

McCall, Maxine Payne -

Maxine McCall, age 81, passed away at the Clearview Home

in Mt. Ayr, on March 15, 2003. Funeral services were held

Wednesday, March 19, at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral

Service in Lenox. Officiating was Rev. Matthew Novotny of the

Mt. Ayr Regular Baptist Church.

Casket bearers were Lanny Douglas, Delbert Weeda, Gary

Swank, Keith Lindell, Rick Nelson, Dick Robinson and Leonard

McCall. Honorary bearers were Chad McCall, Damon McCall and

Sean McCall. Music was provided by Linda Woolley, Billie Jean

Barker, and Janet Reed. Interment was at North Fairview

Cemetery in Lenox.

Memorials may be made to the Lenox Ambulance Service.

She was born south of Mt. Ayr in Ringgold County, Iowa to Lois

(Turner) and Franklin Squire Payne. She graduated from Diagonal

High School in 1940.

In September, 1940 she married Hugh McCall in Grant City,

MO. She lived most of her life in the Lenox and Sharpsburg areas.

Maxine was a cook at Taylor Ridge Estates in Lenox for several

years and was also a care-giver for terminally ill patients in Lenox

and the surrounding area. Her later years were spent as a homemaker.

She was a long-time member of the Christian Church of Lenox and

later joined the First Baptist Church in Creston.

She is survived by one son, Hugh (wife Ardith) McCall of Alba, TX;

daughter-in-law, Bobie McCall of Fairplay, CO.; brother-in-law Mack

(wife Nina), of Lenox; sister-in-law Marjorie Payne of Diagonal, and

four grandchildren.

Raasch, Bessie M Sychra -

Bessie M. Raasch, age 89 of the Senior Suites in Urbandale, Urbandale, IA

formerly of Creston, passed away April 13, 2003.

She was born December 7, 1913 in Orient, IA to Josephine  (Novy) Sychra and

Lewis Sychra. She graduated from Richland Center H.S. in the class of 1931.

On October 17, 1941 she married Norvin Neal Raasch in Missouri; they lived in

Orient, Bridgewater, Cromwell and Creston. She kept busy as a farm wife,

homemaker and was also a cook at the Cromwell Schools. She worked in

Creston and Chicago in her earlier years.

She was a member of the Cromwell United Church of Christ, the

women's fellowship and was a polls volunteer.

She is survived by two sons; Larry (Sherry) Raasch of Waukee, IA; Dean

(Katy) Raasch of Waukee, IA. Two brothers-in- law; Russel (Lucille) Raasch

of Fontanells, and Avis Raasch of Bridgewater. Two sisters-in-law; La Verne

Sychra of Lenox and Delores Sychra of Johnston, IA. Four grandchildren and

one greatgrandchild.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers: Ed and Roy Sychra.

The services were April 17, 2003 at the Cromwell United Church of Christ

with the Rev. Bharat Surrender, officiating.

Burial was in the Fontanelle Cemetery. Memorials to the MS Society - Iowa

Chapter or Cromwell United Church of Christ.

Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Sandeman, Grace Spencer -

Grace Sandeman, 91, Clearfield, IA., died on March 5, 2003

at the Clearview Home in Clearfield. Services were held Saturday,

March 8, 2003 at 11:30 A.M. at Coen-Beaty in Creston, IA.

Conducting the service was Pastor Clark Finehout of the United

Methodist Church. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Creston.

Visitation was from 11:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, and from 9:00 a.m.

until the time of the services.  Memorials can be made to Graceland

Cemetery.  Coen-Beaty-Pearson was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Grace was born June 12, 1911 in Lorimor, IA, to Carl Spencer

and Hattie Higgins. Grace graduated from the Creston high school.

She married Galen Steven Sandeman in 1931 in Creston.

Grace and Galen owned and operated Creston Frozen Food

Locker in the state of Iowa and they also owned and operated

Sandy's in 1963. Grace has lived in Clearfield since June of 1999.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: children-Son, Spencer (Gwen) Sandeman

of Creston; sister-in-law, Alberta Sandeman of Creston. She has 7

grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband in 1964; son,

Steve Sandeman; daughter, who was killed during WWII and

Harry Spencer; a sister who died in infancy.

Scroggie, James Leonard -

Funeral services for Leonard Scroggie, age 90 of Bedford, who

died Thursday, March 4, 2003 at the Bedford Nursing & Rehab

Center were held Friday, March 7, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the

Ritchie Funeral Home jn Bedford with Pastor Ted DeHass

officiating. Interment was held in the Conway Cemetery.

Memorials can be given in Leonard's. Arrangements were

entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

James Leonard Scroggie was born December 4, 1912 in

Wauneta, Nebraska the son of James Burl Scroggie and Bertha

Anna Welton Scroggie. When Leonard was five years old, his

family moved to Iowa, traveling across Nebraska in a covered

wagon. The family settled in Taylor County where he attended

school east of Bedford. After school, he worked for area farmers.

This was during the Great Depression and times were tough.

Leonard worked for the C.C. Camp with Howard Poore. While

attending a 10-cent movie show in Conway, he met his future wife,

Opal Gross, six months later they were united in marriage on April

15, 1939 in Corning, the couple lived in Conway, then moved to

northwest Iowa where he worked for various farmers. They

returned to the Conway area and then they moved to Oklahoma

where he worked road construction, returning to Taylor County

and moving to Bedford in 1957. Leonard began working for the

Taylor County Road Maintenance, a job he held for thirty-three

years, retiring in 1976.

Leonard loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing when he

could. Camping occupied most of Leonard and Opal's time after

retirement. Together they enjoyed traveling around Iowa, being

around people and visiting. Leonard's family was most important

in his life. He was always up for a good card game, especially

"Cut Throat Pitch". Leonard was a member of the First Baptist

Church in Bedford.

Left to cherish Leonard's memory are his loving wife Opal of

Bedford; three children, Gary Scroggie and wife Joanne of Bedford

and their kids, Gary Jr., Lea Ann and Mike; Sandra Helm and

husband Jim of Lenox and their children, Stacy, Kristy, Kerri and

Brian; and Ronald Scroggie and wife Tina of Avoca and their

children, Terry, Angela, Schuyler, Brent and Dylan; a sister, Estle

Dalbey of Maryville, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren and a

host of friends.

Preceding Leonard in death are his parents, James and Bertha, a

brother Junior Scroggie; two sisters, Ruby Glasman and Jessie at

infancy; and a grandson, Steve Scroggie.

Stanger, Frank Edward -

Funeral services for Frank Stanger, age 93, of Lenox, who

died Saturday, March 15, 2003 were held Tuesday, March 18,

2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lenox.

Interment was held in the Grove Cemetery. Memorials can be

given in Frank's name. Arrangements were by the Ritchie Funeral

Home of Lenox.

Frank Edward Stanger was born October 11, 1909, in Taylor

County, Iowa the son of Daniel Stanger and Katharina Haering

Stanger. Frank is a life-long area resident who grew up attending

school in Taylor County. On December 29, 1949, he was united

marriage to Martha Cartwright in Des Moines, Iowa. To this

loving union two daughters Carole and Diana were born.

Frank started his business of custom corn shelling in the spring

of 1934 to earn extra money. Back in '34 and '36 there was not

much money to be made; however, he did his best. His first shelter

was a John Deere No. 5, which shelled about 250 to 300 bushels

of corn an hour.  Over the years Frank had other larger shellers

including an International and various models of John Deeres.

Frank's shilling series, reached as far south as Kansas City,

Missouri for DeKalb Seed Company to forty miles northwest near

Stanton; and as far east as Tingley. In 1975 when that final rock

slipped through and ruined the inner workings of the shelter, Frank

knew it was time to retire!

Frank was always a fantastic neighbor and friend to everyone.

He was always helping those around him whenever possible.

Frank's philosophy in life was 'to treat your neighbors right and

they will treat you right in return'.

Frank was a member of the United Methodist Church in

Lenox. Served as Treasurer for the Lenox Community School for

over twenty-five years; was a fifty-year Mason, serving as

Worshipful Master for the Tremont Lodge. He was a member of

the Eastern Star, Salome Chapter in Lenox and now a member of

Instruction Lodge #275 A.F. & A.M. of Corning; a Rainbow Dad

and proud owner of a Century Farm. Frank was one of the first

chauffeurs for the girls basketball team in the 1930's, prior to the

school providing transportation to the games.

Left to cherish Frank's memory are his loving wife Martha of

Lenox; two daughters, Carole Stanger of Atlantic; and Diana

Stanger-Smith and husband Keith of Maryville, Missouri; one

granddaughter, Kylee Smith, several nieces and nephews, and a

host of friends. Preceding Frank in death were his parents, Daniel

and Katharina; two brothers, Carl and Paul Stanger and four

sisters, Amelia Clapper; Florence Brumbaugh; Alma Fleming and

Matilda (Tilly) Ward.

Wiand, Betty Sue Clinton -

Betty Sue Wiand, 66, of Gentry, Arkansas, formerly of the

Sharpsburg and Lenox area, died April 1 , 2003 at her home.

Graveside services were 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at

Highfill Cemetery at Highfill, Arkansas. The Reverend Lloyd

Johnston officiated. The Wasson Funeral Home, 441 W. Highway

412, Siloam Springs, Arkansas has charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wiand, daughter of Edith Lee (Stapp) and Fred Clinton,

was born May 16, 1936, in Hollywood, CA. She moved from

California to Gentry, Arkansas in 1978, and worked for Tyson

Foods in Rogers, Arkansas until retirement.

Survivors include her husband, James Arthur Wiand Sr. of

Gentry, Arkansas; four children, James Arthur (wife Bobbie)

Wiand Jr. of Highfill, Arkansas; Pamela Joyce Pasquin of Simi

Valley, California; Linda Lee (husband Wes) Brown of Prescott

Valley, AZ.; and Jamie Sue (husband Dwight) Hale of Weir,

Kansas; a sister, Pat Kennedy of Anchorage, Alaska; 12

grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
