Adams, Cyntha -

Graveside services for Cyntha Adams were held at the Bedford City Cemetery on Tuesday, August 27, 1996. The

Rev. Paul Evans officiated with the Novinger/Taylor Funeral Home making the arrangements.

Cyntha Adams, daughter of Marcus and Ida (Feagins) Adams was born at Hitchcock, Oklahoma on September 15,

1904. When she was four years old the family moved to the Bedford, Iowa area in a covered wagon. She attended

the Frog Valley Country School and the Berea Church of Christ.

She lived with her parents until her mother died in 1963 when she moved into the Taylor County Home outside of

Bedford. She later moved to the Lenox Care Center after falling and breaking her hip. Cyntha died on August 24,

1996 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She had reached the age of 91 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Cyntha was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters, Naomi Peach and Dora Mackland; one nephew, Clark

Peach; and one niece, Vera (Peach) Lawson.

She is survived by three nephews, Paul Peach of Clermont, Florida; Glen Peach of Detroit, Michigan; and Alan

Peach of Sioux City, Iowa; nine nieces, Marjorie Raynor of San Diego, California; Louise Herzberg and Wilma Campbell

of Clarinda, Iowa; Dorothy Linkins of Shenandoah, Iowa; Irma Shrimpton of Clearfield, Iowa; Donna Overman of

Omaha, Nebraska; Marilyn Arrick of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Joyce Wilkinson of Kyle, Texas and Hazel England of

Austin, Texas.

Cyntha was a lifetime member of the Berea Church of Christ. A memorial has been established for Cyntha at

Bradley, Lyman Paul -

Lyman Paul Bradley was born March 29, 1914, at Creston, Iowa the son of Hubert and Frances (Pontow) Bradley. He attended St.

Malachy's School in Creston.

On August 21, 1945, Lyman was united in marriage to Coletta Baker at St. Malachy's Church in Creston. To their union was born

eight children: Raymond, Norbert, Bernita, Loretta, Marilyn, Janet, Joyce and Jolene.

Lyman was a lifelong farmer in the Union county area. In addition to his vocation of working with the land and raising livestock, he

and Coletta spent much of their time as devoted parents.

He was a former member of the Lenox Community School Board, a Platte Township Trustee and a Platte Township Assessor.

Lyman was a member of Holy Spirit Parrish in Creston and the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Lenox Stock and Saddle Club.

His interest outside of work, church and other activities revolved around the family.

Lyman died Oct. 7, 1996 at his home in rural Kent at the age of 82 years, 6 months, 8 days, where he was surrounded by the love and

presence of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Bradley and Frances Bradley Shiffer; step-father Ward Shiffer; brothers Rev. Bede Bradley, Dennis Bradley and Hubert Bradley.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Coletta Bradley of Kent; sons and daughters-in-law: Raymond and Peggy Bradley of

Trenton, Mo., and Norbert and Vera Bradley of Lenox; daughters and sons-in-law: Bernita and Ed Stansberry of Marion, Iowa; Loretta and Roger Hatten of Ida Grove; Marilyn and Ken Martin of Des Moines; Janet and Steve Conner of Creston; Joyce and Mark Woosley of Indianola; and Jolene and Scott Griffith of Prescott; seventeen grandchildren; brother-in-law Leo Baker and wife Donna of Creston; sisters-in-law: Theola Bradley of Afton, Bernadine Bradley of Lenox, Pauline Baker of Afton; Dorothy Ellen Baker of Creston, Catharine

Baker Brown of Galesburg, Ill.;  and Mary Jean Gebhardt of Van Meter; and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Oct. 10, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. The Mass was celebrated by Rev. Michael Berner, Rev. John Acrea, Rev. Leonard Kenkel and Rev. Dan Siepker.

Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery at Creston. A Wake service and Rosary were held Wednesday evening at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in

Creston.

Serving as pallbearers were James Martin, Justin Woosley, Kevin Stansberry, Trevor Conner, Pauley Bradley and Matthew Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers were John Baker, Jim Bradley, Roger Baker, Theresa Luce, Rita Michels, Alicia Hamze, Virginia Berry and Ronald

Gebhardt.

Ushers were Donald Bradley, Phillip Bradley, Dick Baker and Damian Baker. Steve Bradley and Patrick Bradley were Lectors.

The Eucharistic Gifts were presented by granddaughters of Lyman Bradley.

Lynn Baker as organist provided accompaniment for Mary Beaman.

Memorials are suggested to St. Malachy's School.

Brott, Grant Bernard -

Grant Bernard Brott youngest son of Wesley and Rosa Bell Brott was born February 13, 1905, in Ringgold County south east of Blockton,

Iowa, and entered into God s rest on July 21, 1996, at the age of 91 years, 6 months & 8 days.

Grant graduated from Redding High School in May 1924 he was united in marriage to Alma Michael and to this union 3 children were

born.

Grant was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church and Noble Lodge #468 A.F. & A.M. He was a very hard working farmer, to which he was dedicated. Although farming was his life, family was very important to him. He enjoyed traveling to see all his

grandchildren and visiting with people.

In 1974 he married Maude Hepperly and retired from farming and moved to the town of Clearfield.

In July 1981 he married Bertha Olney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives Alma and Maude; two brothers Frank and Walter, a sister Maye Spencer, a grandson Charles Brott Jr. and two stepdaughters.

Survivors include his wife Bertha; a daughter Betty and husband Leonard Zigler of Brooklyn, Iowa; two sons Lowell and wife Vaunceil Brott and Charles and Charlene Brott all of Clearfield; five stepchildren; eleven grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nine

great-great grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 24, 1996, at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa, with Rev. Alan Rusk officiating.

Music was provided by Patty Parrish and Deb Briggs.

Serving as pallbearers were David Zigler, Gary Zigler, Vernon Zigler, Jeff Brott, Carroll Baker and Gerald Baker.

Grant was laid to rest at the Redding Cemetery in Redding, Iowa.

Gustafsen, Agnes Ann Lepley Wood -

Agnes Ann Lepley Wood Gustafson, 89, died Thursday, June 27, 1996.

Mrs. Gustafson was born April 4, 1907 to Ida Mae and John J. Lepley at home in Maloy, Iowa. She was the sixth

born of seven children. Her early education was in Malloy. She graduated from Chapman University. She married Joe B.

Wood in Iowa in 1930 and they had one daughter, her only child, Jo Ann Wood, in 1938. Mr. Wood passed away in 1951.

After moving to Paso Robles in 1953 she married Charles C. Gustafson in 1960.

She taught 6th grade in Paso Robles for over 30 years.

Mrs. Gustafson was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Roy and Lee, and sisters, Mary, Bessy, Emmie and

Merl. Her daughter, Jo Ann Johnson died in 1985.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Gustafson, her son-in-law, Dick Johnson, two granddaughters, 2 greatgrandchildren,

many nieces and nephews and one special friend, Irene Key of Massachusetts.

Graveside services were held at Paso Robles District Cemetery in Paso Robles.

Gustafsen, Agnes Ann Lepley Wood -

Agnes Ann Leply Wood Gustafson, 89, died June 26, 1996. She was a teacher in the Lenox area.

She was born April 4, 1907 to Ida Mae and John J. Lepley at home on their farm in Malloy, Iowa. She was the sixth

born of seven children. Her early education was in Malloy. She graduated from Chapman University and

married Joe B. Wood in Iowa in 1930. They had one daughter, Jo Ann Wood, in 1938. Mr. Wood passed away in

1951.

Mrs. Gustafson and her daughter moved to Paso Robles, Calif., in 1953, where she taught sixth grade for over 39

years. In 1960 she married Charles C. Gustafson of Paso Robles.

Funeral services were held at Paso Robles District Cemetery.

Hayes, Richard John -

Richard John Hayes was born March 31, 1934 in Taylor county, Iowa, near Bedford, one of nine children of Glen Hayes

and Mabel Irene (Inman) Hayes.

Richard graduated from Conway High School and then attended Finley College in Kansas City, Missouri, for two years.

He became a land surveyor, a profession he worked in from 1950 until his retirement in 1993. He surveyed in Kansas and

Arizona, holding professional licenses in both states. Richard and Wilma moved back to Lenox in January of 1994.

Richard was united in marriage to Wilma E. Barker on April 2, 1954 at the Lenox Christian Church. Their three children,

Jefferey, Cathy and Russell made the family complete.

Richard was baptized this past March at the Lenox Christian Church.

He died August 24, 1996 at his home in Lenox, at the age of 62 years, 4 months, 23 days.

Those who preceded him in death were his father, Glen Hayes; his father-in-law Jesse Barker; a sister-in-law Linda

(Barker) White; and a brother-in-law Claude Hague.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Wilma Hayes of Lenox; a son Kim Jefferey Hayes and wife Starlene of Drain, Oregon; a daughter Cathy Hall and husband Jeffrey of Bremerton, Washington; and son Russell W. Hayes and wife Cristina of

Bluffton, South Carolina; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; mother Mabel Hayes of Council Bluffs, Iowa; brothers: Paul Hayes and wife Shirley of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Vernon Hayes and wife Joan of Glenwood, Iowa; Dennis

Hayes and wife Ruth of Ellston, Iowa; and Dean Hayes and wife Jeannine of Osage Beach, MO; sisters: Garland Nissen and husband Bud of Omaha, NE; Ruth Huddle of Omaha, NE; Lola Wright and husband Russell of Spencer, Iowa.; and Jeannette Williams

and husband Harold of Kellerton, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lenox Christian Church with Rev. Dean Woldruff officiating. Visitation was Tuesday evening at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Lenox.

Burial was in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Serving as pallbearers were Bob Brown, Harold Williams, Russell Wright, Vernon Hayes, Dean Hayes and Dennis Hayes.

A memorial fund has been established in Richard's name.

Long, Charlotte Alice Gray -

Charlotta Alice Long was born August 8, 1913, in Vona, Colorado, the daughter of Charles Gray and Gertrude

(Brelsford) Gray.

Her family left Vona, Colorado, when she was 7 years old and moved to an area near Lenora, Kansas. Alice went to country school

near Lenora, and attended High school in Lenora.

On August 10, 1931 she was united in marriage with William Rayfield Long. This union was blessed with six children. In 1935, they left

Kansas and moved to Arkansas. In 1937, the moved to the Shenandoah, Iowa area. In 1945, they moved to Sharpsburg and continued to

live there until 1967, when they moved to Lenox.

Alice was a member of the ladies of the Happy Hour Club of Sharpsburg, The Navy Mothers Club, and the P.T.A. of Sharpsburg. She enjoyed playing cards with her many friends, and she also enjoyed gardening and sewing. This was in addition to her lifelong

vocation of homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend.

Alice entered into rest at the Greater Community Hospital in Creston on September 24, 1996 at the age of 83 years, 1 month, 16 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Rayfield Long, one son Richard Lee Long, her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Those who will always cherish her memory are her children: Leonard William Long and wife Sara of Council Bluffs, IA.; Zelma Mae

Cochran and husband Walter of Loveland, CO; Raymond Earl Long of Council Bluffs, IA.; Ira George Long and wife Irene of Sharpsburg, IA; and Shirley Kay Early of Creston, IA; one sister Cora Heberlein and husband Roy of Denver, Colorado; 19 grandchildren;

many great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 27 at 2 p.m. at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Lenox with Rev. Tim Maxa

officiating. Burial was in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Visitation was held Thursday evening at the Funeral Home.

Those serving as pallbearers were Roy Beck, Duane Beck, Dean Poston, Dwight Nook, Leonard Knott and Paul Chandler. Kathryn

Wilson as organist provided accompaniment for Marilyn Beck and Billie Jean Barker as they sang, "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset".

Nook, Ernest William -

Ernest William Nook, son of Herman Nook and Mary (Marie) Spiegel Nook was born at Hamburg, Iowa on January

29, 1903 and departed this life on July 12, 1996 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa at the age of 93

years 5 months and 13 days.

He lived on a farm in the Hamburg, Iowa area and grew up in Fremont County where he attended the public school

and the Methodist Church. On March 7, 1926 he was united in marriage to Wilma Elizabeth Bell. They lived in the

Sidney and Hamburg rural area. They moved to rural Lenox in 1939. He was engaged in farming.

To this union five children were born: Clifford, Dwight, Glen, Jerold and Arlene. He faithfully cared for Wilma until

her death of ALS (LouGehrig Disease) on May 3, 1977.

He was united in marriage to Lena Stogdill Shepherd on November 17, 1979.

He was preceded in death by his father Herman, mother Mary, stepfather Louie Mattes, first wife Wilma, Sister Sophia

Driever, brother Albert, Stepbrothers George Mattes, Paul Mattes and Ralph Mattes, half brother Adolph Mattes,

sons-in-law Kermit Barnes and  Jerry Steddom and stepson Donald Shepherd.

Left to cherish his memory are: his second wife Lena, son Clifford and wife Janice Nook of Creston, son Dwight and

wife Shirley, J.H. Nook of Lenox, son Glen and wife Shirley M. Nook of Newton, son Jerold and wife Sandy of Edgewood, MD.,

Petrie, Maxine E -

Maxine E. Petrie, the daughter of Charles Petrie and Louise (Round) Petrie, was born July 15, 1909 in Union County, Iowa.

She attended school through the 8th grade. Maxine lived in the Arispe and Shannon City areas before moving to the Bethesda Care

Center in Clarinda, and then to the Lenox Care Center in Lenox.

Maxine died September 27, 1996 at the Lenox Care Center at the age of 87 years, 2 months, 12 days.

She is survived by two nephews and a few cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Graveside services were held Thursday, October 3 at 12:00 noon at the Morgan Cemetery in rural Kent with Pastor Tim Maxa officiating.

A memorial fund has been established in Maxine's name.

Services for C.T. Jerry Roberts were held Wednesday, September 11 at the Lenox United Methodist Church with

Pastor Audrey Westendorf officiating.

Music was provided by Catherine Wilson as organist.

Casket bearers were Loren Agnew, Mark Dirksen, Cecil Richardson, Merwyn Richardson, Lowell Richardson

and James Allen Richardson.

C.T. "Jerry" Roberts was born September 19, 1917 at Gravity, Iowa the son of Thomas and Catherine Richardson Roberts and

entered into rest at the Lenox Care Center.

After High School Jerry served in the Navy for 4 years during World War II. On November 27, 1947 he was united in

marriage with Jean Stevens of Des Moines.

He graduated from North West Missouri State University with a Bachelors degree in Education and later from Drake

University with a Masters in Education. Jerry was a teacher, coach and school administrator at several schools for over

40 years. His last 17 were at Spencer, Iowa as High School Principal, then Superintendent.

While at Spencer he received the Iowa High School Athletic Association annual administrators award. In 1979

he retired, and he and Jean moved back to Lenox where he had been Superintendent of schools from 1950 to 1954.

Surviving to honor his memory are his wife Jean Roberts of Lenox; twin sons Terry Roberts of Omaha and

Tom (wife Cindy) Roberts of Kobe, Japan; a sister, Emily Agnew of Corning; granddaughters Heather (husband

William) Chestnut of Phoenix, Ariz., Heidi Roberts of Omaha, Neb., Lisa (husband Mark) Dirksen of LeMars, Iowa, Lori

Roberts of Kobe, Japan.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Tom and Catherine Roberts, and a brother-in-law, John Agnew.

Interment was in the Washington Cemetery at Gravity, Iowa.

Rumbley, Amber Lynn -

A former Lenox resident was killed and a former Lenox school student .sustained serious injuries in a fatal auto accident

early Sunday morning near Corning.

Amber Rumley, who recently turned age 15, was one of two teenage girls who died shortly after the accident at the

Highway 148-34 junction. Amber, who attended the Lenox Community School District, recently moved with her family from Lenox to

Corning. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the 1:13 a.m. accident, according to the report from the Iowa State Patrol.

Also killed in the accident was Angela McCann, 15, of Creston, who died after she was transported to the Corning hospital.

Joshua Camden, 15, of Gravity, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Joshua also attended the Lenox Community School District last year as a result of open enrollment.

The accident report indicated that others who sustained serious injuries were Melissa McCarthy, 16, of Corning and Renee Schafer, 16,

of Corning.

The 1987 Ford pickup truck contained five passengers, including driver Renee Schafer, according to the accident report.

The Schafer pickup was southbound on Highway 148, stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield to a semi-trailer driven by Paul Grelk, 39, of Omaha, the State Patrol report indicated. The Schafer vehicle was reportedly pushed eastbound and stopped on the

southbound side of Highway 34.

Both vehicles involved in the accident were considered total losses. That State Patrol reports that the accident is still

under investigation.

Amber Lynn Rumley was born the daughter of Russell and Alleen Sue Hess Rumley on July 17, 1982 and entered

into rest in Adams County, Iowa on August 11, 1996 at the age of 14 years and 24 days.

Amber attended school in Lenox. She had many interests, she enjoyed swimming, movies and video games She was

involved with the Special Olympics for seven years and was a member of the Awana Club in Clearfield, as well as

Girl Scouts in Lenox.

Surviving to honor her memory is her mother; Alleen Sue Alborn (husband Doug Armstrong) of Corning; her

father, Russell (wife Sally) Rumley of Indianola; brother Andrew Alborn of Corning; sister Ashley Rumley of

Chariton; grandmother Mary Rumley of Mt. Pleasant; grandparents Opal and Clarence Hawkinson of Lenox and John

and Kay Hess of Clinton, Arkansas; great grandparents Roy and Florence Camden of Lenox and Wilma Hess of

Creston; step-grandmothers Jane Alborn and Dorothy Armstrong as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces,

nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were a sister in infancy, stepfather Mark Alborn, stepgrandfather Harold; grandfather

Arthur Ray Rumley; great grandparents Joe Hess, Elsie and Jim Schrodt, Ronald Schrodt, Helen Rumley and

Luther Baker.

Interment was in the West Fairview Cemetery.

Services for Ila May Smith were held September 22, 1996 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield. Officiating the services was

Rev. Alan Rusk.

Casket Bearers were Allen Brown, Bob McMath, Joe Routh, Glen Larsen, John Lyddon, and George Haidsiak.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Richard Eno, Dean Weller, Bill Scott, Donald Scott, Howard Weller, and Leonard Knott.

Ila May Smith was born near Sharpsburg to William Isaac and Mary Ellen Boyden Knott, May 5, 1901. Ila had seven brothers and sisters.

In her early years she attended the Blue Grove Church where she was baptized.

Ila spent her youth in Sharpsburg where she attended school for 11 years. As Sharpsburg did not have the 12th grade she finished

high school in Clarinda. Later she graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1924. Ila was a school teacher until her retirement in 1963.

She taught school in several different places, including Gravity. She taught in the Van Meter school 5 years where she met Charlie

Smith. Ila and Charlie Jennings Smith were married June 20th, 1939 in Warsaw, Missouri. To this union Jay Charley and Patricia, Ellen

were adopted and raised to become a happy family.

Ila, Charlie and children lived on the Knott family farm until, in 1977 they moved to Clearfield.

Ila went to be with the Lord Sept. 22, 1996.

Ila was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist church and also a member of the Eastern Star.

Ila was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Jennings Smith, her parents and six of her seven brothers and sisters.

Ila is survived by her son Jay (wife Shirley) Ferrel of Paduka, Kentucky; a daughter, Patricia (husband Manuel) Fuentes of Clarinda; six

grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister Oma Eno (husband Lyle) of Lincoln, Nebraska.

She was laid to rest in the West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Maring Ivan "Ike" Sterling  was born March 29, 1920 at Lenox, Iowa, to David Christopher Sterling and Lillian Mary (Riley) Sterling.

He attended school at Lenox and Corning, and graduated from Corning High School.

On January 25, 1942, Ivan married Dorothy Sevier in Maryville, Missouri. To this union were born six children.

Ivan was a veteran of the U.S. Army for three years during World War II.  He worked as a mail carrier for the U S Postal Service

in the Creston area for 33 years. He retired in 1975.

Ivan and Dorothy were long time residents of the Creston and Corning area.  They lived the past nine years in Lenox.

He was a lifetime member of the Creston V.F.W. and he was also a member of the Lenox American Legion. Ivan also belonged to the Camp Fire Sam's Camping Club.

Iva died Saturday, September 7, 1996, at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr at the age of 76 years, 5 months, 8 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robert Allen Sterling and two brothers-in-law.

Ivan is survived by his wife of 54 years Dorothy of Lenox; his children and their spouses: Patricia Hainline and husband Fred of

Bloomfield, Iowa; Doug Sterling and wife Debbie of Tingley; Dennis Sterling and wife Elizabeth of Killeen, Texas; John Sterling and wife

Patti of Tingley; Nancy Rolfe and husband Pat of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Helen Litscher and husband Ron of Hoopsa, Calif.; sisters Bernice Brown of Corning; Maxine Boyd of Creston; and Betty Lundhigh of Tulsa, Okla.; seventeen grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held, September 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lenox United Methodist Church with Pastor Audrey Westendorf officiating.

Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Visitation was held Tuesday evening at Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in

Lenox. Full military rites were provided by the Creston V.F.W.

Serving as pallbearers were Terry Hainline, Jasper Ambrose, Oren Jeter, Raymond Trost, Kenneth Black and Russell Woods.

Kathryn Wilson, Marilyn Beck and Billie Jean Barker provided music.

A memorial has been established in his name.

Coen-Beaty Funeral Home of Lenox was in charge of the arrangements.

Straight, Leonard Curtis -

Leonard Curtis Straight, son of Seymour and Effa Wheat Straight, was born on June 27, 1900 and departed

this life July 10, 1996 in Clearview Home, Clearfield, Iowa at the age of 96 years and 13 days.

Leonard lived and grew to maturity in the Taylor county area around Bedford and Sharpsburg. He attended

school in this area and was a member of the Christian Church.

Leonard farmed ail his life until retirement and enjoyed working the earth.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, Seymour and Effa; four brothers Sanford, Clio, Howard and

Vern; and four sisters Selma, Salena, Sela and Iness.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Harlan Straight of Kenniwick, Washington; his sisters-in-law,

Betty Straight of Wilmington, Delaware and Estella Straight of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces, nephews

and friends.

Leonard was a kind and considerate son, brother and uncle and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Thomson, Mona May Miller Beemer -

Mona May Thomson passed away the 15th of September, 1996 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was born October

1, 1914 in Walnut, Kansas. She moved with her family to Tabor, Iowa and then to North Dakota. The family moved back to the

Randolph, Iowa area where she finished school in Strahn.

Mona married Francis Eugene Beemer. From this union three children were born. Later she married Dr. Vale Thomson of Clearfield,

Iowa.

She is survived by her loving husband, Vale Thomson of Clearfield; daughter Gloria Hanson and husband Gary of Marshalltown, Iowa and their two daughters; Stacy Jobes and husband David of Schleswig, Iowa and Stephanie Hanson of Mason City, Iowa; Son Arlin Beemer and wife Mary Lynn of Mason City and their three children; daughter Lindsay Schmidt and husband Tim of Ankeny, Iowa and their

son Spencer, Daughter Sara Beemer and fiancee Kyle Leininger of Kansas City, Missouri, son Aaron Beemer and wife Valerie of Mason

City, Iowa and their son Tyler.

Also surviving is step-daughter JoAnn Avey of Peoria, Arizona and her two children; daughter Holly Rapp and husband Steve

of Tucson, Az. and a son Josh Avey also of Tucson and a step-son Dr. John Tomson and wife Kay of Brookings, South Dakota and their two sons; Dr. Dan Thomson and wife Cindy of Ames, Iowa and their two daughters Kelly Mae and Katfend and David Thomson of

Glacier National Park, Montana.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Proctor and Olive Tomes Miller, ten brothers and her daughter Sandra.

Mona was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clearfield and the U.M.W. circle, as well as the Clearfield Lions and formerly the Eastern Star and P.E.O.

Mona was a gift to all those she touched. Her love of life was evident in all her activities. Mona loved her family with passion and gave

of herself in her cooking and especially in her sewing. She made quilts for all of her family and was currently working on quilts for her great grandchildren. She loved nature and spent much of her time in her garden, camping, or fishing with her husband; Mona caught most of the fish. She also loved to travel and her and Doc had many great adventures.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18 at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, Iowa. Rev Alan Rush officiating. Casketbearers; Aaron Beemer, David Jobes, Dan Thomson, Bill Hayes, Tiny Schmidt, Kyle Leininger, David Thomson, Josh Avey.

Interment at Graceland Cemetery in Creston, Iowa.

Tully, Minerva E Douglas -

Minerva E. (Douglas) Tully of Lenox was born March 10, 1912 at Liberty, Nebraska to D. Gilbert and Mildred (Hunt)

Douglas and passed away July 9, 1996 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston at the age of 84 years,

3 months, and 29 days.

Her early years were formulated around school, Sunday School, and helping tend to brothers and sisters. In

1924, the family moved to Atkinson, Nebraska where she graduated from High school in 1931. At that time the family

moved to the Lenox area where she has since resided.

On Jan. 24, 1935 she was united in marriage to Donald W. Tully. To this union 2 daughters were born.

Survivors include her husband Don Tully; daughters Gwen Maynes, Bonnie (Larry) Schrader; Brother Donald R. (Betty)

Douglas; sisters DeLoris (Harold) Beck and Berniece (Delman) Brown; Sister-in-law Beulah Douglas; 12 grandchildren, 26 great

grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Glen and Earl Douglas; infant sister Beulah Douglas; son-in-law

Harold Maynes and great grandchildren Clinton and Dallas Schrader.

Services for Mineva Tully were held Friday, July 12, 1996 at the Lenox Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tim Maxa

and Rev. Peter Brantner officiating.

Music was provided by Roberta Lockhart as organist.

Casket bearers were Mack McCall, Jack Gourley, Dennis Bunch, Norbert Bradley, Vernal Thompson and Lary

Christensen.

Memorials are to the Lenox Ambulance Service or the Lenox Presbyterian Church.
