Brown, Sarah Louise Goley -
Mrs John Brown, died Friday, Dec 15 at Greater Community Hospital at Creston where
she had been a patient for several days. She was 72 years old and had been in
ill health for several years. She is survived by her husband.
Services
were held Tuesday afternoon from the Varner-Crew Funeral home in Clearfield
with the Rev L B Day of Maryville, Mo, in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs Viva Mahoney, pianist, Mrs Norma Jean Huffman and Mrs Nioma Gaule. Pall bearers were Wm Weeda,
Homer Pugh, J E Ecklin, Jack Gourley,
Wayne Beck and Bill Goodale. Burial was in LeMar cemetery at Elmo Mo.
Mrs Brown was born and grew up near Maryville, Mo. She was a member of the
Methodist church at Clearfield.

Mrs Pearl Dotts of South Gate, Calif,
died very suddenly at her home Jan 2 while preparing to retire. She and her
family were former residents of the Conway vicinity. Two sisters survive, Mrs Claudia Severn Birney and Mrs Grace Adair, both former residents of Lenox, and now living at Ames.
Mrs Dotts' husband Glen died in 1954. Two children are
living, Howard of South Gate and Alice Barnard of Albuquerque, N Mex.
Funeral
services were Jan 5, with burial in Forest Lawn cemetery. The news of Mrs Dotts' death came in a letter
from Mrs Claudia Birney of 812 W 7th St., Ames.

Ed Eckels of 1115 14th Street, Greeley, Colo,
was taken to a hospital after suffering a heart attack Monday morning. He died
early Tuesday morning. He was 80 years old. He leaves his widow, Haleyon, three brothers and three sisters. His death was the first in the family of
seven.
Near
relatives in this area are a brother Warren Eckels and family of Lenox, and a sister, Mrs Dora Chute of
Corning.
The
deceased formerly lived here. He was a retired farmer, mail carrier and
carpenter.
Warren Eckels and Mrs Chute have
gone to attend the funeral.

Eller, 66, retired farmer died Saturday at 9 p m at Rosary hospital. He was
born at Morrisville, Mo, but had lived near here most of his life.
He
leaves his widow, Eunice, four children, two sons, Francis Eller of St Joseph,
Mo, James Eller of Kansas City, Mo, two daughters, Mrs Harry (Lula Mae) Spoonemore of Lenox and Mrs Helen Smith of Blockton.
Services
were at Bender Funeral home Tuesday at 2 p m the Rev David Shaeffer officiating. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery. The American Legion conducted a
military service.

Eller, James Arey -
Memorial
services were held Tuesday, Jan 30, 2:00 p. m. at the Bender Funeral Home in
Lenox, la., for James Arey Eller. Rev. David A. Shaeffer of the Lenox Christian church officiated.
Pall
bearers were World War I veterans: Frank Crouch, Dale King, Joe Trost, Will Andrews, Claude Reynolds, Byron Brown.
Members
of the American Legion color guard were Robert Manroe,
George Austin, George Young, Raymond Miller, Karl Wurster,
Dick Gray, Donald Saunders, Eldon Jones. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, Lenox.
Mr Eller passed away at Rosary Hospital, Corning, la., Saturday evening, Jan 2. He
had been in failing health for some time.
Mr Eller was born in Moorseville, Mo., June 17, 1895,
the son of James Henry and Mary Susan Walker Eller. He was married to Eunice
Mae Key March 19, 1924 at Bedford, la.
To
this union were born: Harold Francis Eller of St Joseph, Mo.; Mrs Lula Spoonemore of Lenox;
James Melvin Eller of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs Helen
Smith of Blockton.
He
leaves to mourn his passing besides his widow and immediate family, two
brothers and two sisters: William Eller of Kansas City, Mo., Sam Eller of
Utica, Mo., Mrs Letha Payne of Chillicothe, Mo., Mrs Nene Blanchard of Kansas City, Mo., six ; grandchildren
and the daughters-in-law, Mrs Harold Eller and Mrs James Eller.
He
was a member of the Presbyterian Faith, becoming a member of the Sharpsburg,
la. church in June of 1914.
Mr Eller was a veteran of World War I and served his country with Company A,
Development Battalion No. 1 and was given the honor of full military funeral
services by the Lenox American Legion Post.

Graveside
services were being held here Wednesday for Jerry Gregg, 19, of Topeka, Kan.,
who was killed in a car accident Saturday. He was a college freshman. He was
the son of Scout and Wilma Benson Gregg and a grandson of the late Robert
Bensons, Lenox residents. Randall Haynes is a cousin.

Haley, 65, of Nodaway, died Sunday at an Omaha hospital after a six month illness. The funeral was at
Corning Tuesday with burial in the Methodist Grove cemetery near Brooks.
Survivors
include his widow, Florence, 4 daughters, Mrs Lloyd
Travis, Corning, Mrs Cliff Palmer, Brooks, Mrs Fern Mitchell, Parnell, Mo, Mrs Art Pashek, Creston; 3 sons, Calvin and Jim of
Nodaway and Dalmer of Hepburn.
Judy Ambrose is one of the 28
grandchildren.

Richard
E Kouba of Tampa, Fla, died
recently of a heart attack, according to word received by Mr and Mrs Alvin I Gray. Mr Kouba will be remembered by Lenox friends as he ran a
grocery store here about 22 years ago. Two daughters survive.

Elmer Orwin McCreight, second son
of Preston and Ezilla Hale McCreight was born at Winfield, la., Oct 5, 1878 and departed this life Dec 19, 1961 at
the Clear View Nursing Home at the age of 83 years and 3 months.
He
moved with his parents to Clearfield at the age of 10. Most of his life after
this was spent in and around Clearfield.
Dec
27, 1905 he was united in marriage to Bessie L Ramsey. To this union were born
six children: Mildred (Mrs Dick Young) of Lenox;
Duane L of Clinton, Pa.; Alta Lois, who died in infancy. Lorraine L of Oxford
Junction, la.; Floyd H, a teacher in the Clarinda schools; Ray A of Beaver, Pa.
Three
brothers also survive him: Clarence of Chanute, Kans.; Orville of Clarinda,
la.; Lloyd of Pasadena, Calif; nine grandchildren and
one great grandchild, besides nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Elmer,
as he was known to his many friends has been in ill health for many months. He
has been a patient in the Clear View Nursing Home since early last summer. He
will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was always willing to lend a
helping hand and was kind to everyone.
Last
rites were held Tuesday, Dec 26 at Varner-Crew Funeral Home. Rev Henderson
officiated.

Henry
Nixon, 75, suffered a heart attack and died at his home here at 10:30 P M
Monday. He was born in Taylor county and was a retired farmer. He had never
married. Services will be Thursday at 2 p m at the Bender Funeral home with Rev
David Sheaffer officiating. Burial will be in the
Lenox cemetery.
Survivors:
2 brothers, William of Lenox and, Thomas of Gregory, S Dak;
5 sisters, Miss Emma Nixon and Miss Isabel Nixon of the home; Mrs Ruth Boltinghouse and Mrs Amelia James of Lenox and Mrs Lillie Pullman of Osceola.
The body is at the Bender Funeral home.

Nixon, Henry Milton -
Henry
Milton Nixon, son of Hugh and Mary Catherine Nixon, was born Mar 27, 1886, and
died at his home in Lenox on Monday, Jan 8, 1962. He had reached the age of 75
years, 9 months and 11 days.
His
boyhood days were spent on a farm six miles west of Lenox. After the death of
his mother in early childhood and of his father in 1913, he, with his two
sisters, Jane and Emma, established their home on the farm. Later they moved to
the present home on North Main Street.
At
the age of ten he had the misfortune to fall from a building, and a bone
infection developed which made him a cripple for life. In spite of this, his
ambition to succeed made him a successful farmer.
He
had been in failing health and confined to his home for two years, but death
came suddenly Monday with a heart attack.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John and Martin, and two
sisters, Lizzie Fleming and Jane Nixon.
He
leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers and five sisters, Lillie Pullman,
Osceola; Thomas Nixon, Gregory, S Dak; Emma Nixon,
Isabel Nixon, Amelia James, William B Nixon and Ruth Boltinghouse of Lenox; two sisters-in-law, Edith Nixon of Lenox and Bessie Nixon of West
Union, Iowa; also nieces, nephews and friends who will greatly miss him.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p m Thursday, Jan 11, at the Bender Funeral home with
Rev David Schaeffer of Lenox and Rev Leroy Pullman of Silver City officiating.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
Pall
bearers were Robert Nixon, Wayne Nixon, Vernon Nixon, Gerald Nixon, Dwaine Yount and Donald Miller.

Alan
Matheson Paton, son of Al and Christine Matheson Paton was born April 12, 1910,
at Dinsdale, Iowa, and passed away at his home in
Reinbeck, Iowa, on Thursday, Jan 18, 1962, at the age of 51 years.
Alan
attended the public schools of Dinsdale and Reinbeck
Iowa, growing to manhood in that vicinity. In 1928 and 29 he attended linotype school in Toledo,
Ohio, after which he was employed on newspapers in Reinbeck, Early, Washington,
Lenox and Oskaloosa. He was employed on
the Lenox Time Table from 1937 until 1942, going from Lenox to Oskaloosa. He
enlisted in the armed forces in 1942 and spent three years in combat service in
the southwest Pacific.
During
a 45 day leave from overseas duty, he was united in marriage June 23, 1945 to
Marjory Roe of Lenox, in Kansas City, Kansas. Then on October 7, 1945, he was
discharged from the army, returning to Reinbeck where he engaged in the
trucking business with his brother, Jack. Then a year and a half later his brother Don joined the firm now known
as Paton Brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents
and one brother, his mother in 1939, his father in 1947 and his brother Jack in
1957.
Alan
is survived by his wife and two daughters, Jill, 12 years and Julie, 7 years,
also three brothers, James and Donald of Reinbeck and Harold of Hudson and one
sister, Mrs Frank (Genevieve) Bickert of Denver, Colo, and many other relatives and
friends.
Alan was,a member of the Congregational Church at
Reinbeck, the American Legion, the Forty and Eight Club and Masonic Lodge.
Funeral
services were at the Union Congregational Church in Reinbeck on Sunday, Jan 21,
with the Rev. David E Arnold officiating and assisted by Coin Lodge No 394, AF A. AM.
Military
rites were in change of Action Post No 242 as Alan was laid to rest in the
Reinbeck cemetery.

Mrs. James H. Brown received word
Friday of the death of her brother-in-law, S W (Bill) Ridenour, 71 of
Vermillion, S. Dak. Bill formerly lived near New Market.
Mrs. Ridenour, the former Mabel Riggle lived here until she grew up. She attended rural
schools in this vicinity and the Lenox school.
She is a sister of Mrs Brown of Clearfield, Mrs. Dollie Schowalter of Creston, Glen Riggle of Sharpsburg and Edith Murren of Clarinda.

The
obituary of Mr Charles Sealy was sent by his
daughter, Mrs E Piedalue of
6641 Hood Ave, Huntington Park, Cal. Mr Sealy was a
lifelong subscriber to the Time Table and was the type of person who sent along
a complimentary remark or an interesting comment when we had correspondence
with him. We knew him only in that way, but we remember him as a kind and
friendly person.
Obituary
Charles
Lewis Sealy was born in Muscatine, Iowa, Sept 1, 1877, and passed away at the
home of his daughter, January 20, 1962, at the age of 84 years, 4 months. On
December 25, 1901, he was united in marriage to Louise E Paymal,
and to this union two daughters were born, Ethel (Mrs Eugene Piedalue) and Margaret who passed away in
infancy.
Mr and Mrs Sealy moved to California in 1937, and after
the death of Mrs Sealy in 1946, he has made his home
with his daughter in Huntington Park.
He
leaves besides his daughter and her husband, two granddaughters, three great grand daughters, three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law
and several nieces and nephews, besides his acquaintances and friends. Mrs Pauline Paymal of Lenox is a
sister-in-law.
Mr and Mrs Sealy lived in Lenox before moving to
California.

Earl
Smith, 70, died Monday at Rosary hospital. He lived on a farm about three and a
half miles east of town. Services were held at 10 a m Wednesday, Jan 24, at St
Patrick's church, the Rev Adam Reisz officiating.
Burial will be in the Lenox cemetery. Rosary was said at 7:30 Tuesday evening
at the Bender Funeral home.
Survivors
include his widow, Esther; two sisters, Mrs Lou
Anderson of Lenox and Mrs Clark Binkert of Whittier, California, also several nieces and nephews.

Earl Ernest -
Earl
Ernest Smith was born on a farm eight miles east of Lenox Sept 23, 1891, and
passed away Jan 22, 1962 at the Rosary hospital in Corning where he had been a
patient one week. He was 70 years and 4 months old.
He
was the son of Liza Hartman and Dorie Smith and grew
to manhood on this farm. He was married to Esther Maloney on Nov 18, 1913. They
started housekeeping on a farm east of Lenox and lived in Ringgold county for
several years. In 1941 they moved to the farm they occupied at the time of his
death.
He
leaves to mourn, his wife Esther; two sisters, Mrs Clara Binkerd of Whittler, Calif;
Edith Anderson of Lenox; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Magrath of Lenox and Mrs R R Smith
of Whittier, Calif, and a number of nieces and
nephews.
Services
were held from St Patricks church in Lenox,
Wednesday, Jan 24, Father Reisz officiating. Burial
was in St Patricks cemetery.

Thursday February 8, 1962
Mrs Mary E Sweeley, a former resident of Lenox and
publisher of the Time Table, died at the Golden Age rest home in Des Moines
Friday, December 15, at the age of 85. She had been in poor health for the past
two years but had been in the rest home only a month.
A
daughter of Joseph and Margaret Gllbreath, she was
born in Des Moines, October 23, 1876. She attended school at Grimes and De Soto
where the family lived before moving to Adel. On May 25, 1899, she was married
to Vic T Sweeley of Adel and made her home there
until 1929. Upon the death of her husband in 1920, she took over management of
the Dallas County Record which he had been publishing and continued operation
of the newspaper until it was sold in 1929. Later in that year, with her son Verlin L Sweeley, she purchased
the Lenox Time Table and published the paper until it was sold in 1942. She
then retired from active business and lived with her son at Council Bluffs,
Shenandoah and, for the past two years, in Des Monies.
In
Lenox Mrs Sweeley was an active member of the Christian
Church where she served as financial secretary for some 12 years. She was a
member of Salome Chapter, OES and of the MF Club. She was active in church,
social and community affairs as long as her health permitted.
She
is survived by her son, Verlin L Sweeley,
1607 30th St, Des Moines, two daughters, Mrs B V
Clark of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs L E Derrick of
Burlingame, Calif, a sister, Mrs B J Mclntyre of Minneapolis and a grandson, Norman R
Clark of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral
services held Tuesday, Dec 18 at 10 a m, were in charge of the Arnold Highland
Park funeral home in Des Moines and burial was made at Adel beside her husband.

Mrs.
Belle Tuttle, 88, died Tuesday, Dec 26 at Ames. Services were held there Dec. 28 with graveside services and burial at
Old Memory cemetery at New Market.
She
was born Aug 1, 1873 at Winthrop, Iowa, the daughter of James and Margaret
Gilmore. She was married in 1900 to R Mert Tuttle and
lived in Lenox until 1917. The couple moved to New Market where he operated the
Wainwright Lumber company. Mr Tuttle died in 1955. In
1956 Mrs Tuttle went to live with a niece, Mrs George Beck at Ames.
Surviving
are a brother, Walter Gilmore of LeRoy, Kan, a
sister, Mrs Edith Reed of White Pidgeon, Mich; 7 nieces and nephews. A sister, Mrs Sarah Smith formerly lived at Sharpsburg.
Mrs Tuttle was a past matron of the New Market Eastern Star and a member of the
Methodist church.
Mrs Becks home is at 515 Grand Ave, Ames.

Marion Arthur -
Marion
Arthur Veatch, son of Charles and Florence Dawes Veatch, was born Mar. 20, 1923
in Adair county near Orient, Ia., and
passed away at the Greater Community hospital in Creston, Friday, Jan. 19, 1962
at the age of 38 years, 9 months and 29 days. He had been in failing health for
the past few years.
He
had lived all his life in Adair, Adams and Union counties.
He
graduated from the Lenox high school in May, 1941. On May 6, 1944, he was
married to Wilma Darlene Bolinger at Bedford. To this
union were born two sons, Marlin and Dale and one daughter, Karen Kay.
He
was a member of the Canby lodge, No. 354, AF and AM of Cromwell, where he was
also a past master, also a member of Vesta chapter of
OES at Creston. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Creston where he,
his wife and children attended. He had also served as trustee of the church. He
had farmed near Creston since his marriage.
Marion
was a loyal husband and a loving father, the welfare of his family having first
place in his heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a
cheerful smile for everyone. He was an assistant leader in 4-H work. The burden
of his illness was lightened by the thoughtful care and devotion of his wife
and children.
One
brother, Estle, died Nov. 5, 1924. He is survived by his wife, Wilma, the sons,
Marlin, 15, and Dale, 11, and a daughter Karen Kay, 9; his parents, Mr and Mrs Chas. Veatch of Lenox,
4 brothers, Glen of Fontanelle; Howard of Creston; Eugene of Lenox; Walter of Prescott;
two sisters, Mrs. Viola Sandstrom of Sharpsburg, and his twin Mrs Arda Brown of
Tempe, Ariz; also a grandmother. Mrs. Arda Crawford
of Maryville, Mo.
Masonic
services were held at 8 p. m. Sunday, Jan. 21 at the funeral home with the
Cromwell lodge in charge. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 22, 1962 at
Creston with the Rev. Marcus Aurelius, pastor of the Salem Lutheran church
officiating.
Music
was by Mrs Claud Hart,
organist. Casket bearers were Willis Ray, Hollis Mohr, Kenneth Abel, Harold
Cochran, Vincent Boeder and Ora Flowers. Burial was in Graceland cemetery.
