Richard
Barton, 60, of Pine River, Minnesota, died November 4th at Minneapolis. He is a
former resident of Lenox.
Survivors
include his wife, Virginia and daughter, Eleanor Knold of Brainerd, Minn. Two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral
services will be held today (Thursday) at 1:00 from the First Lutheran Church
in Pine River. Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery at Pine River.

Darlene Baumann, a former Lenox
resident died Saturday Dec. 14th at the University of California hospital of
cancer.
She
was retired from the government and made her home at Livermore, Calif. Her
parents, Arthur and Leta Baumann and 1 brother,
Robert preceded her in death.
She
is survived by 1 sister, Mildred Sheldon of Denver, Colorado.

Baumann, Darlene -
Final
rites were held Monday for Darlene Baumann, of Livermore, California, who died
Dec. 14th.
She
was born Feb. 21, 1913 in Ringgold County, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Leta Baumann.
Darlene
graduated from the Lenox high school and then went to Des Moines, Iowa, where
she graduated from. A.I.B. Business college. She worked for Bankers Life
in
Des
Moines, for some time and from there went to Baltimore, Maryland and worked for
Social Security. She transferred to Washington, D. C. and graduated from
Columbus
University
in Law. She then transferred to San Francisco, California and worked for Social
Security until her retirement in 1964.
Miss
Baumann lived in Livermore, California. She had been ill for four years with cancer
and was taking Chemotherapy at the University hospital where she passed away
Dec,
14.
She
leaves to mourn her passing, one sister, Mildred Sheldon and one
brother-in-law, Dale of Denver, Colorado. Also one aunt, Mrs. Carl Ancioaux of Iowa
City and several cousins and a host of friends.
Rev.
Floyd Newbrough, pastor of the United Methodist
Church in Lenox, officiated at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in this city.
Music
was furnished by Norma Paymal, organists and Helen
Brokaw and Lori Evans, vocalists.
Bearers
were Carl Spring, Kenneth Young, Harley Allen Porter, Russell Davenport and
Harley Morley.
Burial was in the Rising Sun Cemetery.

Scott
Beck, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Beck of Springfield, Mo., and
grandson of Johnny and Pauline Beck of Reinbeck, Iowa, was fatally injured in a
park there.
He
was riding to a dunebuggy which upset pinning him
underneath. He was dead before arriving
at the hospital.
Funeral
service and burial were at Springfield.
He
also leaves to mourn one brother, two sisters, his parents and grandparents.

has been received on Dec. 10th, that Albert Brenner of Weinsberg,
Germany, had passed away on Monday, Dec. 9th at 1:00 a.m. He was 71 years of
age.
Survivors
in the Lenox community are his daughter, Gerda Miller
and husband Benne, his granddaughter, Shirley Miller, his grandson, Marvin J.
Miller and wife Karla and his cousin, Ernest Rogner of Lecanto, Florida.
He
had made many friends in the Lenox area while visiting his daughter the summers
of 1917 and 1972.
Funeral
.services were held Dec 11th at 1:30 p.m. in Weinsberg,
Germany.

years of age.
She

Iowa, Mrs. Fred (Mary Ellen)

West Boyston, Mass., and Mrs. Morrie (Ann) Kirby, of Omaha.

services were held Friday, Nov. 22nd, 1974 at 9:30 a.m. at the Kremer Funeral
Home.
She
was a resident of Lenox and graduated from the Lenox school,

Ivan
Carey, a lifetime resident of the Lenox community died at Rosary hospital in
Corning Tuesday, December 3rd, 1974. He had been a resident of the Lenox Care
Center
for several years.
Mr.
Carey was born in Lenox July 5, 1891, the son of John J. and Anna Nau Carey. His age at time of death was 83.
Survivors
include a son, Harold (Bud) Carey of Lenox, two daughters, Mrs. Willard Scott
of North Bend, Nebr., and Irene Smoldt of Palmdale,
California, nine grandchildren,
six
great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Mohler of
Golden, Colorado. His wife also survives, and is a resident at the Care Center.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth in
March,
1972.
Funeral
services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the United Presbyterian
Church with Rev; Wallace Nelson, pastor, officiating.
Burial
will be hi East Fairview cemetery.

Ivan
N. Carey, son of Anna Nau and John J. Carey, was born
July 5, 1891 in Lenox, Iowa. He was married on Dec. 29, 1914 to Mary Andrews.
To this union were born 4 children.
Survivors
include his wife, Mary, one son Harold and two daughters, Geraldine Smoldt of Palmdale, California, and Wilma Scott of North
Bend, Nebraska.
Also
surviving are one sister, Mary Mohler of Golden,
Colorado, 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth, a brother Elwood, one sister, Nina
and 2 infant brothers.
Services
were held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 6th at the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox
with Rev Wallace Nelson officiating.
Interment
was in East Fairview Cemetery.

F, Hass, a former Lenox resident, died recently in California.
W.
F. Hass was born in Coal Valley, Ill., Sept. 9, 1879. He came to Lenox Iowa
when a small boy. He was married to Bessie Manroe on
May 15, 1913. They lived in Lenox until
1941
when they moved to Long Beach, California. Mrs. Hass passed away on August 8,
1949.
Surviving
are 4 daughters, Mrs. Fred (Opal) Newby of Nebraska City, Nebr., Mrs Marie Wilson and Mrs. Stan (Marcketa)
Hudson, both of Long Beach, Mrs. Lloyd Scott
(Marian)
of Sacramento, Calif, 2 sons, Harvey Hass of Seattle,
Washington, Richard Hass of West Linn, Oregon, Donald Hass of Lemon Valley,
Nevada, 15 grandchildren and 14
great
grandchildren also survive.
Services
were held in Long Beach, Cal. Dec. 12th, and short services in Lenox Dec. 14
with burial in Fairview cemetery in Lenox.

Randall
Haynes, 70, a farmer in the Lenox area the greater share of his life, died
unexpectedly Sunday night at the Cass county hospital in Atlantic. He had been
taken
to
the hospital earlier that evening after he had suffered a heart attack while
bowling at Adair.
Randall
Lester Haynes was born Nov. 10, 1904 in Taylor County and passed away Dec. 1,
1974 at Atlantic, Iowa.
He
was the son of Clarence and Bertha Haynes. He spent his entire life in Taylor
Co.
On
May 28, 1927, he was united in marriage to Ethel Matzen.
To this union were born 5 children. Preceding him in death were his parents,
two brothers, one daughter
and
one grandson.
Survivors
include his son, Fred and wife of Lenox, three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Bolinger and husband, Mrs. Clair Bolinger and husband and Mrs. Frank Bladon and husband
all
of Creston and a son-in-law, Ed Moore of Ames, 19 grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
Also
surviving are 2 brothers, Harry and Donald, 2 sisters, Bernice Cowman and
Thelma Larimer, 3 sisters-in-law, Darlene Haynes, Carrie Haynes and Florence
Heaps and her husband Ray, also a number of nieces and nephews and many
friends.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Larkin-Bender funeral
home in Lenox with Rev. Floyd Newbrough, pastor of
the United Methodist
Church,
officiating.
Bearers
were Dean Davenport, Herman Haering, Don Trost, Raymond Trost, Max Badgett and Everett Symonds.
Burial
will be in Fairview cemetery at Lenox.

John
Russell Lindell, 72, a retired farmer of the Lenox
area, died at his home in this city Dec. 6th.
John
Russell Lindell, the son of Gust and Amanda Youngberg Lindell was born at Nyman in Page County, la. on
March 29, 1902. He was 72 years, 8 months and 7 days of age at the time of his
passing.
He
was baptized in infancy and confirmed in 1917 in the Fremont Lutheran Church at
Nyman, and was presently a member of the United Methodist Church of Lenox.
He was
raised and farmed in the Nyman community until 1950 when he moved to a farm
near Lenox. He retired and moved into town in 1972.
He
was united in marriage to Helen Wallin on July 29,
1925 at Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away July 3, 1935. He was then united in
marriage to Anna Timms October 6th,
1937
at Shenandoah, Iowa.
Mr. Lindell was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 1
son Marlin Robert and a son-in-law, Bernard Parker.
Survivors
include his wife, Anna of Lenox, 1 son, Keith and his wife, Jeane of Lenox, 3 daughters, Mrs. Marvis Parker of Council
Bluffs, Mrs. Glen (Ellen) Brunk: of Phoenix,
Ariz.,
and Donna Lindell of Omaha, Nebr., 3 grandchildren,
Barbara Ann Parker of Council Bluffs, Troy Marlin and Brent Allen Lindell of Lenox, 1 brother, Bernard Lindell of Essex, Iowa, one sister, Essie, Mrs. Theodore Axelson of Red Oak, other relatives and friends.
Funeral
services were held Monday, Dec. 9th at the Sellergren-Lindell Funeral Home at Red Oak, Iowa, with Rev. Floyd Newbrough,
pastor of the Lenox United Methodist Church officiating.
Music
was furnished by Mrs. Norman Nelson, organist and Glen Anderson, soloist.
Bearers
were Glen Vogel, Wayne McFee, Kenneth McFee, Robert Morris, Vernal Thompson and James Wurster.
Honorary
bearers were Max Hockett, Homer Walter, Marion
Spicer, Claude Morris, Mark Robinson and Frank Robinson.
Interment
was in Evergreen cemetery at Red Oak.

Mrs.
Clyde (Anna) Milliken, 89, died Sunday afternoon at the Rosary hospital in
Corning after a lengthy illness.
Anna Wurster was born at Lenox Oct. 5, 1885, the daughter
of Christian and Katherine K. Haering. She was
married at Lenox March 1, 1910, to Clyde Milliken who preceded her in
death
April 29, 1957. Mrs. Milliken was a life-time resident of the Lenox community.
She
is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Bertha) Williams of Lenox, Mrs Johnny (Doris) Baxter of Omaha,
Nebr., and Mrs. Lyle (Ruth) Raines of Kansas City, Mo., five grandchildren and
12 great grandchildren and two brothers, Sam and Will Wurster of Lenox.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde on April 29, 1957, by her mother
and father, a brother John Wurster, and 2 sisters,
Mrs. Paulin Froemal of
Omaha and by Clara Wurster of Creston.
Anna's
whole life was centered around her home and family. Her door was always open and until her health
failed, one of her greatest pleasures was still baby-sitting with her great
grandchildren. She will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral
services were held at 1 :30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Larkin-Bender
Funeral Home in Lenox with Rev. Donald Briley officiating.
Bearers
were Clyde Belding, Bill Williams, Marvin Reed, Larry Stephens, Howard Stoaks and Glen Williams.
Music
was furnished by Norma Paymal, organist, Billie Jean
Barker and Marilyn Beck, vocalists.
Burial
was in West Fairview cemetery at Lenox.

Clarence
Moore, 70, formerly of Stringtown, died November 13th
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cecil Keith of Red Oak where he had made his
home in recent months.
Mr.
Moore was born January 18, 1895.
Services
were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roland Funeral Home in Corning with Rev.
Donald Briley, pastor of the Prescott church
officiating.
Music
was furnished by Donna Peckham.

Mrs.
Robert L. (Iva) Robinson of Oakland, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 12th at a
Council Bluffs hospital following a heart attack.
Mrs Robinson, 82 years of age, was a resident of the Lenox community from 1943 to
1969. She is survived by Robert Jr, and Wynona Dobernecker of Oakland, Iowa,
and
Margaret Wisdom of Saugus, California, three grandchildren and three great
grandchildren.

Theodore
"Ted" Selders, 71, died at the Lenox Care Center
Saturday, Dec. 14, 1974, after a long illness.
Mr. Selders was born in Kansas City on Nov. 21, 1903 the son of
Eva and George U. Selders. He came to Iowa as a small
boy and made his home with Mrs. Anna Flook
at
Gravity, Iowa.
He
joined the Presbyterian Church of Sharpsburg, Iowa, in 1931, and transferred to
the United Methodist Church of Lenox, Iowa in 1952. He joined the Odd Fellows
and Rebekah
Lodge
on October 4, 1943 and had been a faithful member to both as long as his health
permitted.
He
was united in marriage on June 25th, 1924 to Grace Brown of Conway, Iowa. This
past summer they were privileged to celebrate their 50th anniversary. To this
union two
children
were born.
Survivors
include his loving wife, Grace, son Theodore Selders,
Jr. and his wife Ann of Garden Grove, Calif., one daughter; Mrs. Don (Dorothy) Trost and husband of Lenox,
Iowa,
five grandchildren, Gio, Gina and Dino Selders of Garden Grove, Calif., Craig Trost of Iowa City and Kim Trost of Ankeny, Iowa, a half
sister, Ressie Brown of Clarinda, la.,
and
a host of relatives and friends.
He
was proceeded in death by his parents and three half sisters, Katherine, Jessie
and Hilah.
He
was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

services were held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 17th at 2 p.m. from the
Larkin-Bender Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Newbrough officiating.
Music
was furnished by Mrs. Norma Paymal, organist.
Bearers
were Henry Bycroft, Harlan Brown, Horace Brown,
Robert Brown, Virgil Kirby and Robert Brown.
Rites
were also given by the Odd Fellow lodge No. 91 from Bedford, Iowa.

Laura
Ethel Smith, 93, a longtime resident of the Lenox and Stringtown communities, died Friday, Nov. 29th at the Colonial Manor in Corning.
Born
April 28, 1881 she was the youngest of five daughters born to Ruth A. and
Curtis Minnard at Jerseyville, Illinois. She was 93
years, 7 months and 1 day of age at
the
time of her death.
Her
mother passed away when she was 14 years old. She then came to Iowa to make her
home with a sister, Grace Roberts and her husband near Stringtown where she grew to
womanhood.
She
married Alphaows L. Smith on January 18, 1905, at
Corning, Iowa. Most of her life was spent in the Stringtown and Lenox vicinity except for a few years that were
spent
in the Nodaway vicinity.
To
this union were born three sons, Harold, Wayne and Jesse.
She
was a long time member of the Stringtown Church. She
was an active member as long as her health permitted.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Harold, 4 sisters and 1
grandchild.
She
is survived by 2 sons, Wayne and his wife, Geneva of Corning and Jesse and his
wife Grace of Oswego, Kansas, a daughter-in-law, Ruth of Stringtown,
6 grandchildren:
Gary
Smith, Pat Springs, Gerald Smith, Sharon Best, Kay Smith and Raedeen Smith, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews,
and many other friends.
Funeral
services were held Monday, Dec 2 at 2 p.m. from the Stringtown Church with Rev. Donald Briley officiating.
Music
was furnished by Mabel Pine, organist, Ruth Smith and Ellen Grace Brown,
vocalists.
Bearers
were Austin Brown, Darrell Brown, Fred Shepherd, John Craft, Fred Stillinger and Alan Pine.
Interment
was in Fairview Cemetery.

Jessie
L Stillinger, 68, died Friday Nov 22nd at the Lenox
Care Center.
Jessie
L, Heimke Stillinger, third
daughter of William and Olive Heimke, was born on a
farm in Grant township July 30, 1906. She departed this life at the age of 68
years, 3 months and 22 days.
Her
early life was spent in and around Corning. She graduated from the Corning School and attended summer classes at a
college in Shenandoah, Ia. For eight years she
taught
in the Adams County rural schools.
She
was married to Fred L. Stillinger at Yorktown, Iowa,
on May 24, 1933. To this union one son, Edwin, was born.
All
of her married life was spent on a farm in Adams County.
Mrs. Stillinger had been in failing health for over a year.
She
was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother.
Since
the church meant so much to her, she spent many hours helping with the programs
there, doing work for the community, and enjoyed her handwork which was one of
her
favorite
hobbies.
Survivors
include her husband, Fred, and son, Edwin and his wife Jane of Omaha, Nebr.,
two sisters, Blanche Heimke and Grace Dory of
Corning, and a brother, Dale
Heimke and his wife Ruth of Greely, Colo. She treasured the individual members of the Stillinger family, nieces, nephews and her many friends.
Funeral
services were conducted Monday, Nov. 25 at 2 o'clock from the Roland Funeral
Home in Corning with Rev. James King officiating.
Music
was by Mabel Pine.
Bearers
were Daytin Hucke, Allen
Pine, Darrell Brown, Dale Shepherd, Kenneth Miller and Bob Morris.
Interment
was in Brooks cemetery.
