Anderson, Edith Vera Smith -

Mrs Edith Anderson, 81, died at the Rosary hospital Friday. She was the widow of L. B. Anderson, a well known auctioneer. Services were held Monday,

Apr. 13 at Bender Funeral Home, the Rev. A. J. Clements officiating.

Edith Vera Smith, daughter of David and Ann Eliza Smith, was born Nov. 6, 1882 on a farm near Lenox. On Aug. 2, 1905, at Osceola, she was married to

Louis B. Anderson.

They were the parents of four children; Clifford who died in infancy;, Earnest of Whittier, Calif.; Wayne, Spokane, Wash.; and Gladys Noble of

Sepulveda, Calif. There are seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; also a sister, Clara Binkerd of Alhambra, Calif.

Mr Anderson died Aug. 28, 1962.

Out of town relatives who came for the funeral were Mr and Mrs Bill Brown of Creston, Mrs Basil Atha and Mrs Fred Leggett, Chariton, Mr and Mrs

Leland McMath, Clearfield, besides members of the immediate family.

Baumann, Arthur Eland -

Arthur E. Baumann, 79, died at Livermore, Calif., Tuesday morning. The body will be brought to the Bender Funeral Home, arriving about 3 p. m.

Friday. Funeral services will be held at Benders Saturday at 2 p. m., with burial in Fairview Cemetery in Ringgold county. Left to mourn his death are

his widow, Leta and two daughters, Mildred Sheldon of Denver, Colo., and Darlene of Livermore.

Baumann, Arthur Eland -

Arthur Eland Baumann, son  of Peter am Dorothy Baumann, was born in Ringgold Co., Iowa, July 3,1884 and passed away at Fairmont Hospital, San Leandro, Calif.

 Calif., June 2, 1964 at the age of 70 years, 11 months, after a five day illness. lie had been in poor health for some time.

He was married to Leta R. Sholl in September, 1906, at Diagonal. He spent most of his life in and near Lenox.

He was the youngest of a family of 13 children. Preceding him in death were an infant son, Robert, his parents, four sisters, Mae, Ida, Melvina and Marietta; 6 brothers, Sherman, Milton, Wilbur, Morton, Fred, Frank and 2 others who died in infancy.

He is survived by his widow, Leta and 2 daughters, Mildred Sheldon of Denver, Colo., and Darlene Baumann of Livermore, Calif., several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Before moving to Lenox 12 years ago, Mr Baumann farmed 8 miles east of town.  The past 11 months he had been living in Livermore, Calif.

He has been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for 20 years.

He was a devoted husband and father and will long be remembered by many friends.

Services were held at the Bender Funeral Home Saturday, June 6 with burial in the Rising Sun cemetery in Ringgold Co., the Rev. A J Clements officiating.

Blaine, George -

George Blaine, 83, passed away Thursday at the Greater Community hospital at Creston. Funeral services were Sunday at the United Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James Eddy officiating. Burial was in the Lenox Cemetery:

George Blaine, son of Phillip and Cinderella Blaine, born March 28, 1881, in Scotland County, Mo., departed this life at the Greater Community Hospital, Creston,

Iowa, April 30, 1964, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 2 days. He grew up in the community of his birth, and at the age of 25 was united in marriage to Ollie Aldridge, at Lancaster, Mo., November 23, 1906.

They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last fall. To this union, 4 children were born. Two daughters preceded him in death: Alma Mae, at the age of 15 months, and Allie, at the age of 16 years, also his parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters. To cherish his memory is his loving wife, Ollie, his son, Ova Blaine of Corning,

la., and a daughter, Mrs Vada Calvin of Lenox, and 8 grandchildren, also one brother and three sisters, all living in Missouri.

He was baptized in early life. The family moved to Iowa in 1921 and he became a member of the Sharpsburg Presbyterian Church. After moving to Lenox, in 1937,

he transferred his membership to the Presbyterian Church in Lenox.

He worked for the City Street Commission for several years. After retiring, he spent his time with his family and taking care of his home that he cherished so much. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and will be sadly missed by all.

Brown, Odis McKager -

O M Brown, 88, retired farmer, died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs Lawrence Kirby of Bedford. Funeral services are Wednesday

at 2 p. m. at the Bender Funeral Home. Burial is to be in the Lenox cemetery.

His wife died in 1956. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs Kirby of Bedford, Mrs Ted Selders of Lenox; one son Marvin Brown of Bedford and a number of grandchildren.

Brown, Odis McKager -

Odis McKager Brown, of Bedford, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 7, 1964 at the home of his daughter Mrs Lawrence Kirby, with whom he made his home, at

the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 3 days.

He was born to David and Mattie Brown, on October 4, 1876, in Taylor County, la., and spent most of his life in Taylor County, with the exception of 3 years spent

in Argyle, Minn. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Richey on Jan. 19, 1898, and to this union seven children were born. Three of them survive: Oma W. Kirby, and Marvin

"Skeeter" Brown of Bedford, and Grace A. Selders, of Lenox.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, three sons, Roy, Charlie, and Clyde, one daughter Daisy Baggstrom, his parents, one brother and two sisters.

He is also survived by one brother Guy of Sharpsburg, and one sister Orle McKay of Mt. Ayr, seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, 7

great great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

His entire life was spent in the farming and trucking business and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Copeland, Lillian M. Goodale -

Mrs. Lillian M, Copeland, 80, passed away Monday morning at the Rosary Hospital in Corning. She had been taken to the hospital Sunday.

Mrs. Copeland was born in Lenox and lived here most of her life. She traveled extensively with her late husband, Lewis E. Copeland, who died

Feb. 4.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Bender Funeral Home, the Rev A. J. Clements officiating, and burial in the; Lenox cemetery.

Left to mourn her passing are 4 sisters, Mrs. Nelle Steffarud, Mrs. Fern Dodds, Mrs. Lucille Munger, all of Des Moines, Miss Retta Goodale with whom she

made her home, a son Eugene of Lenox and 2 grandchildren.

Copeland, Lillie M. Goodale -

Mrs Lillian M. Copeland, daughter of George Leonard Goodale and Effie Anna ( Polston) Goodale, was born Sept. 30, 1883 in Lenox, Iowa, and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, June 8, 1964. She was 80 years old.

Mrs Copeland had lived in Lenox all of her life and became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age.

On Dec. 30, 1908, she was married to Lewis Edward Copeland who passed away Feb. 4, 1964.

Her parents and one brother, Frank E. Goodale, preceded her in death.

She was a friend to all who knew her and her greatest pleasure was in doing for others. She was devoted to her home and family.

She leaves to mourn her passing one son, Eugene Goodale, two grandchildren, Robert and Jeanie, 4 sisters, Retta Goodale, with whom she shared the home, Mrs Nelle

Steffarud, Mrs Fern Dodds, and Mrs Lucille Munger, all of Des Moines, also several nieces and nephews.

Services were at the Bender Funeral Home Thursday, June 11 at 2 p. m., the Rev A. J. Clements officiating. Burial was in the Lenox Cemetery.

Charlie A. Deaver, 75, died at Rosary Hospital in Corning on Sunday morning. Services were Tuesday at the Bender Funeral Home. Ministers officiating were

Rev. David A. Shaeffer, Lenox, and Rev. Don Briley of Corning. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Mrs Luella Ranck of Nodaway; 2 sons, Marvin of Lincoln, Neb., Gail of California and a number of grandchildren.

Deaver, Charles Arthur -

Charles Arthur Deaver, son of John and Adabelle Deaver was born at Lenox, on August 2, 1888 and departed this life at Rosary hospital in Corning, June 7, 1964

at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 5 days.

On April 28, 1912, he was married to Sylvia Terry. To this union three children were born, Marvin, Gail and Louella.

He spent his entire life here, where he was engaged in the plumbing business. He was a member of the Christian Church, and of the Eagles, No. 1398 of Creston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sylvia; and two sisters Flossie Pennebaker and Ethel Bisco.

Surviving are Marvin and Rachael Deaver of Lincoln, Neb., Gail and Myrtle Deaver of Santa Paula, Calif., Stanley and Louella Ranck of Nodiaway; 5 grandchildren: Charles Dean and Hal Dean Deaver, Katheryn Anne Collins and her husband Tom; Jeanette Keith and her husband Doyle and Lowell Ranck; Two great grandchildren:

Linda and Pam Collins; One Sister, Fern Pennebaker of Sharpsburg, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Services were June 9 at the Bender Funeral Home, ministers David Shaeffer and Don Briley officiating with burial in the Lenox Cemetery.

Eberle, Roy -

Roy Eberle, 62, former Lenox resident, and railroad employee, died Friday night at a hospital in Lincoln, Nebr.

Survivors include his widow, Irene, who is in a Lincoln hospital with a heart ailment; 1 daughter, Mrs Bonnie Gulick, of Long Island, N. Y.; 2 brothers,

Elmer, of Lenox, Floyd, of Prescott; 2 sisters, Mrs Grace Leach, of Prescott and Mrs Jemima Keith of Des Moines.

Services were Wednesday at Lincoln, with burial there.

Ecklund, Roy -

Services are being held Wednesday for Roy Ecklund, 60, of Afton who died Monday. Survivors include his widow, one son Dale, a daughter-in-law,

the former Judith Tyler, and three grandchildren, Christina, Peter and Andrew Ecklund.

Harover, William Champ -

Funeral services are being held today (Wednesday) at 2 p m for William Champ Harover, 67, who passed away suddenly Monday afternoon. Mr Harover

had taken care of his rural mail route in the regular way that morning and had been in various business places in the afternoon. He was visiting at Roll

Service Station when he slumped over on the bench where he was sitting.

The funeral is at the Methodist church, the Rev A J Clements officiating, with burial in the Lenox cemetery.

Mr Harover was born at Henderson, Iowa. He was assistant cashier of the Citizens Bank there for a time, then was State Inspector of banks in Iowa for

two years. Later, he was publisher of the newspaper at Carson for two years. He has been a rural carrier from the Lenox post office for 25 years. Last

year he received a 25 year award for safe driving during his tenure.

Survivors are his wife, Laura, two sons, Bill Harover of Mt Ayr; Dick Harover of Lenox; 4 grandchildren; also a sister Mrs Kirk Sample, Red Oak and

a brother, M. B. Harover of Pendleton, Ore.

Mr Hanover was a veteran of the U. S. Navy in World War I. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Masonic Lodge.

Klinzman, Fred Martin -

Fred; Klinzman, 72, passed away at his home in Lenox at 5.30 this morning (Wednesday.) He is survived by his wife and 4 daughters, Mrs C C Reynolds

of San Diego, Calif.; Mrs Harlan Shellman, of McMinnville, Ore.; Mrs Marlin Brown of Brooks, la., and Mrs Bill Scott of Lenox.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed at this time.

Klinzman, Fred Martin -

Fred Martin Klinzman, son of David and Minnie Klinzman, was born Oct. 11, 1891 at Cornell, Ill. He died May 27, 1964 at the age of 72 years. On Dec. 3, 1910, he was married to Fern Olds at Carbon, Iowa.

He is survived by his widow and four daughters, Mrs Bill Scott (Doris), Conway; Mrs Martin Brown (Burdean), Brooks; Mrs Harlan Shellman (Bonnie), McMinville, Ore.;

Mrs Carl Reynolds, (Hildred), Chula Vista, Calif. There are 14 grandchildren, also 4 sisters and a brother, Mrs C. R. Oberdusky, Canton, Ohio; Mrs Ella Medlin, Salisbury, Mo.; Mrs W. E. Baker and Mrs Mary E. Smeltzer, Cando, N. Dak.; Harey H. Klinzman, Canton, Ohio; besides many other relatives and friends.

His parents and one brother preceded him in death. Mr Klinzman had lived in this vicinity about 30 years. He was a life long member of the Brethren Church and a song leader for many years.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, at the Salem Church of the Brethren, with burial in the cemetery there. Rev. Chas Colyn and John O. Wagner officiating.

Miller, Edith Nixon -

Funeral services for Mrs Edith Miller, 53, of 1506 Jefferson Ave., Des Moines were held at 9:30 a. m., Tuesday, at Gatchel Methodist Church in Des

Moines. A second service was Tuesday at 1:30 p. m., in the Methodist Church at Lenox. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery.

Mrs Miller died Saturday afternoon at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She had been ill six months. She was born in Adams county and was a graduate

of Lenox High School. She was the former Edith Nixon.

She had served as secretary of the Des Moines Area Council of Churches the last four years.

Survivors are her husband, Raymond, (Mike); 6 sons, Donald, of Lenox, Dick, Gail, Edwin and Harlan, all of Des Moines, and Marine Cpl. Allen, of San Diego, Calif.;

one sister, Mrs Minnie Stults of Maryville, Mo.; a brother, William J. Nixon, of Shannon City and 15 grandchildren.

The family suggests any memorial may be made to Mercy Hospital and can be left with Rev A. J. Clements or Mrs C E Dixon.

Sanburn, Harry Lee -

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 9, 2:00 p. m. from Bender's Funeral Home for Mr Henry Lee Sanbum, a resident of Lenox, la. Rev David

A. Shaeffer of the Lenox Christian Church officiated and Mr Roland Buxton was soloist with Mrs R. Bender at the organ. Interment was made at Lenox.

OBITUARY - SANBURN

Henry Lee Sanburn, was born south of Nodaway, April 9, 1900 and passed away at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Wednesday, May 6, 1964,

He spent his early childhood in Montgomery and Adams Counties. He moved to Stringtown in 1913, where he lived for 20 years. During this time he

united with the Stringtown Community Church.

On September 11, 1928, he was united in marriage to Mable Franklin of Lenox. To this union two children were born Jean and Earl. They spent their married life

on farms until January 1, 1956 when they moved to Nodaway and worked for the Telephone Co., later to Sharpsburg and in January of 1963 they moved to

their present home in Lenox.

Survivors include his wife Mable, a daughter (Jean), Mrs Mary Moore of Villisca, a son, Earl of Corning, four grandchildren, Terrie and Tracy Sanburn

and Marilyn and Jeff Moore; Three sisters, Mrs Goldia Straight, Corning, Mrs Edward Stevens of Forsyth, Mont., Mrs Pearle Donaldson of Joshua Tree, Calif., several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Pall Bearers were George Cade, Wm. Scott, C. L. Hendrickson, Albert Fickess, Earl McCullouigh and Cleo Houchin.

Smith, Juanita Ralston Travis -

Mrs Al Smith died suddenly at her home Sunday night. Services will be at the Bender Funeral Home Thursday, Apr. 9 at 2 o'clock with burial in the

Stringtown cemetery.

Juanita Smith, daughter of Benjamin and Alice Ralston, was born at Trenton, Mo., May 24, 1892 and passed away at her home in Lenox on April 6, 1964

following a heart attack. She was 71 years, 10 months and 13 days old.

Mrs Smith grew up in Trenton and was married there to Henry G. Travis, now deceased. To that union were born four children.

On Oct. 4, 1959, she was married to Al Smith of Lenox. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband Al, her four children, Gilbert Travis, his wife Gladys,

of Corning; Armond Travis, his wife Lorene of Prescott; Helen Turner, Hileah, Fla.; Alice Kirk and her husband Harry, Mt. Home, Ark.; also 3 stepsons,

Harold, Floyd and Orville Smith; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; also a brother, Wilbur Ralston, Silvis, Ill.; and a sister, Eulalia Reams,

Covington, Ky.

Her parents, 3 brothers and 4 grandchildren preceded her in death.

Mrs Smith was brought up in the Methodist church.

Waskiw, John -

Mr John Waskiw of Phoenix, Ariz., son-in-law of Manford and Rose Ann Carpenter of Lock Springs, Mo., passed away very suddenly, on Wednesday

afternoon, Feb. 26, from a heart attack. Mrs Waskiw called her parents who left for Phoenix by plane the same afternoon.

On Thursday morning Mrs Waskiw gave birth to a son who has been named Andrew John.

Funeral services for Mr Waskiw were held on Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church in Phoenix. Besides his wife, Patricia, and son Andrew, Mr

Waskiw leaves two children, Donnie 3, and Stephaine, 15 months.

Mrs Waskiw is the granddaughter of the late Ellen Boylen of Lenox.

Wheatley, Flora -

Mrs Flora Wheatley of Corning, 87, died Apr. 24. The funeral was Apr. 27 at the Methodist Church at Corning. She was the mother of Mrs A. I. Gray,

grandmother of Mrs Bob Callahan and Mrs Don Drennan of Corning,

Survivors are 11 children, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

Those from here who attended the funeral were Mr and Mrs Gray, The Bob Callahan family, Dale Young family, and Mr and Mrs Chuck Schmit of Omaha.
