Ambrose, Andrew Jesse -
Jesse
A. Ambrose, 81, died at the Rosary hospital in Corning Saturday. Mr. Ambrose
was a lifetime resident of the Lenox community and had been taken
to
the hospital March 19th after he became suddenly ill.
Survivors
include his widow, Nancy, a daughter, Mrs. Wilma Beckwith of Gardena,
California, a son, Burton of rural Creston, four grandchildren and
a
sister, Mrs. Amy Cash of Lenox.
Funeral
services were conducted from the Stringtown church
Tuesday afternoon, March 25th at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Paul Williams and Rev. Don Briley officiated.
Music
was furnished by Mrs. Mabel Pine, Mrs. Ruth Smith and Mrs. Austin, Brown.
Bearers
were John Craft, Austin Brown, Dale Shepherd, Harold Shepherd, Winfield Ramsey
and Fred Stillinger.
Burial was in Fairview cemetery at
Lenox.

Ambrose, Andrew Jesse -
Andrew
Jesse Ambrose, son of Amos and Roseana Reid Ambrose
was born on a farm near Mercer Center, Iowa on May 2, 1887 and passed away at
the Rosary
Hospital
in Corning, Iowa on March 22, 1969 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 20
days.
On
Jan. 25th, 1911 he was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Algoe at Toluca, Illinois. Two children were born to this union, a daughter, Mrs.
Duane (Wilma)
Beckwith
of Gardenia, California, a son Burton Ambrose of Creston, Iowa.
All
of his life was spent in Adams County. He resided on the farm where he was
born, until March 1917, when he and his family moved to the farm one and one
half miles east of Stringtown, which has been his
home ever since.
Jesse
and Nannie celebrated their fifty eighth Wedding
Anniversary this last January.
Jesse
was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his family very much,
especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who gave
him
much pleasure through the years.
Jesse
was a charter member of the Mercer Center church. He was a member of the Stringtown church and served on the church board when the
church
was
built. His church and his home held first place in his life. He was never too
busy to help anyone at any time.
Those
who survive are: his wife Nannie, his daughter Wilma
and husband Duane, a son Burton and wife Dorothy. Four grandchildren, 2 great
grandsons,
a
sister Mrs. Amy Cash, of Lenox a niece and several nephews also survive.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, 2 grandchildren
and 2 great grandchildren.
Services
were held at the Stringtown Church Tuesday, March 25,
at 2:30 P. M. with Rev. Williams officiating, assisted by Rev. Briley.
Music
was furnished by Mrs. Austin Brown and Mrs. Ruth Smith accompanied by Mrs.
Allan Pine at the organ.
Pallbearers
were Austin Brown, Harold Shepherd, Dale Shepherd, Fred Stillingar,
Winfield Ramsey, and John Craft. Interment was in the Lenox Cemetery.

Nora lola Badgett, eldest
daughter of Martin W. Miller and Laura E. Hackett Miller, was born on a farm in
Adams County, Iowa, January 30, 1884. and
passed
away at the Rosary hospital, Corning, Iowa, March 27, 1969, at the age of 85
years, 1 month and 27 days.
She
spent her entire life in Adams County. She was married August 14, 1907 to King
R. Badgett at the farm home of her parents at
Corning.
This
home was blessed with four sons: Rex and Roy of Corning, Max of Lenox, and
Wayne of Prescott.
Early
in life, she united with the Mercer Center Church.
She
was preceded in death by her father and mother, two sisters, Mary and Ethel and
one brother, Milan, and her husband who passed away November 18, 1962.
She
is survived by four sons, Rex, Max, Roy and Wayne and daughters-in-law, Orrie, Ruby, Darlene and Deloris, ten grandchildren and
four great-grandchildren,
three
brothers, Charles Miller of Corning, Wesley Miller of Prescott, Wilton Miller
of Salem, Missouri, two sisters, Florence Kretzinger of Corning and, Bess Lacox of Harve,
Montana, several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral
services were held from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning March 31 at 2:00 p.
m., conducted by Rev. Donald Briley. Interment was in
Walnut
Grove
Cemetery.
Pallbearers
were Ralph Fulk, Howard Badgett,
Mart Miller, Dick Miller, Jack Kretzinger and Melvin
McKay.

Dennis
Bloom, age 53, whose Iowa family is well known in National and International
purebred livestock business, died most unexpectedly as the result of a heart
attack Feb. 18th and was buried Feb. 22nd at Manteno, Illinois.
His survivors
are: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bloom Sr., and sisters; Mrs. Eileen Lilly,
Mrs. Fannie Johnson and Miss Doris Marietta Bloom, all of the Greenfield, Iowa
area, and younger brothers: Bart Bloom Jr. of Nebraska, Warren of Rockford,
Illinois, Chester L. "Kelly" of Brasilia, Brazil, South America and
Wayne of Villisca, Iowa.
Dennis
graduated from Corning high school and also Indiana Reppert School of Auctioneering. He was an expert welder in both civilian and
"Seabees" Construction
branch
of Service life. He also served overseas in Cuba and French Morocco in North
Africa and Newfoundland in "Seabees". He lived many years in
Illinois.
His
Memorial Fund is being established to buy a beautiful stained glass window for
the Manteno Missionary Baptist Church, c-o Minister Charles Ingram.

Mrs.
Ella Cade of New Market, 84, died Monday afternoon, Mar. 24th at the Court
Street rest home in Bedford.
Survivors
include several stepchildren, and nephews, Evan Brannon of Lenox and Orrie Masters of Butler, Mo. She was a sister of Mrs. Zetta Wilt who
died
in May, 1968.
Funeral
services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Church of Christ in New Market.

Cade,
Ella Masters -
Ella
Masters Cade was born Dec. 7, 1884, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Masters.
She
was united in marriage to Elihu Cade on Dec. 28,
1921. They spent their married life in New Market where she tenderly cared for
her husband in his declining years. He passed away Nov. 10, 1945.
Mrs.
Cade shared her love with the children and grandchildren of her husband, ever
treating them with kindness. She shared
her love also with her neighbors, always lending a helping hand. She was ever
thoughtful of others, never failing to inquire about the families of those who
called on her.
Children
she especially loved, remembering them with candy and gifts whenever possible.
Mrs.
Cade was a member of the New Market Church of Christ, and appreciated so much
the visits of the pastor, Glen Mitchell.
She
was one of a family of seven children, sisters: Emma, Bertha, Zetta, Nellie and brothers: Walter and Harley preceding her
in death.
She
is survived by nephews, Evan Brannon of Lenox and Orie Masters of Butler, Mo., stepchildren, Mrs. Vesta Borin of Midwest City, Okla, Mrs.
Claris Harland of New Market, Mrs. Zella McCreary and
Raymond Cade of Des Moines. She was a sister of the late Zetta Wilt of Lenox.
Funeral
services were held March 26th at the New Market Church of Christ, conducted by
Pastor Alvin Reed of Clearmont, Mo.
Mrs.
Cade died at Court Street Nursing Home in Bedford March 24th. Interment was at
Dallas Center Cemetery, New Market.

Harry
Cochran 84, a longtime resident of the Lenox community, died at the Rosary
hospital in Corning Friday, where he had been a patient about a week.
Mr.
Cochran was a retired farmer.
Survivors
include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Posten of Gravity, and
a son, Marvin Cochran of Palmdale, California. Two nieces are Lenox residents,
Mrs. Effie
Black
and Mrs. Ruth Beemer. Mr. Cochran's wife died 33 years ago.
Funeral
services were conducted from the Bender Funeral Home in Lenox Monday afternoon,
April 21st at 2 p. m., with Rev. Ollie Odle, Sr.,
officiating.
Bearers
were Cecil Miller, Victor Posten, Bill Bennett,
Kermit Posten, Robert Bennett and Raymond Cochran.
Burial
was in Blue Grove cemetery near Lenox.

Iowa Thursday April 24, 1969
Mrs.
Cora (Muncey) Franklin, 92, of Des Moines, and former
resident of Lenox, died Sunday in the capital city. She was the widow of the
late Fred Franklin.
Survivors
include one son and his wife, one grandson and wife, and three great grandsons.
Mrs. Franklin was an aunt of Mrs. Joe Neuhardt of
Lenox.
Funeral
services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Dunn Funeral
Home in Des Moines with burial in the Masonic cemetery.
Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Neuhardt of Lenox and Mrs. Marty Moore
of Villisca attended the final rites.

Mrs.
Richard Young received word last week of the death of Mrs. James Henry of Sterling,
Kansas, on Tuesday evening, April 8. She had been in failing
health
the past year, but death, came quite sudden.
Mr.
Henry will be remembered by a great many here, having grown up in the Lenox
community on the farm north of Lenox now occupied by Ralph and
Lula Killlnger.
She
is survived by her husband James, and a daughter, Elva, now Mrs. Bruce Scheckter and family.

Mrs Emma Johnson of Guss died at Rosary Hospital in
Corning, Iowa, Tuesday.

services will be held at Guss today (Thursday) at 2
o'clock.
Mrs.

Ernest
William Peterson, youngest son of Charles and Ida Johnson Peterson was born
June 3, 1894, in Antelope County, Nebraska and passed away at the
Marian
hospital March 22, 1969. He and his wife had spent most of the winter in Avoca
at the home of their son Charles and family, both being in poor health.
He
was united in marriage at Bedford, Iowa, Feb. 28, 1921 to Nellie Butler. Four
children blessed their home.
He
is survived by his wife Nellie, a son Charles Bernard Peterson and wife Julia
of Avoca and a daughter, Audrey Shaffer and husband Delbert of Boulder,
Colo,
and 9 grandchildren: Mark, Jeffrey, Paula and Kurt Peterson and Martin and
Charles Shaffer. Also two sisters, Anna Lundgren and Edna Baum, a host of
nieces and nephews and loving friends.
He
was preceded in death by two infant children, his parents, four brothers and
one sister.
He
was a member of the Lenox United Methodist Church where he was custodian 24
years and was also pianist of the adult Sunday School class.
He
was a friend to all and always willing to help out when he could and
especially the elderly. He was never
more happy than when he could be with his family
and
grandchildren,
Services
were held Monday at 2 p. m. at the United Methodist Church with burial in the
Fairview cemetery. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie
Barker
and Mrs. Paul Brokaw and Mr. James Beck. Mrs. Eugene Paymal was at the organ.
They
sang: "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."
Bearers
were Eldon Jones, Ray Hewitt, Lowell Bush, Randall Wilson. Russell Wurster, Jack Jones.

services for Charles Russell Reynolds, 57, who died of a heart attack Monday
morning at Clarinda, Iowa, were held Wednesday afternoon from the
Rhoades
Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Jeen S. Park,
Mrs.
Harrison Link, Mrs. Robert Fister, Howard Cornelison and Kenneth Burright sang, accompanied at the organ by Margaret Pence.
Casket
bearers were Jack Gray, Warren Drake, Cecil Carlson, Paul McElroy, Forest
Morgan and Paul Firkins.
Burial
was in the Rose Hill cemetery at Mt. Ayr.
A
son of Lou and Ollie Reynolds, he was born March 1, 1912 in Delphos, Iowa. At
the time of his death, he was employed at the Mental Health Institute in
Clarinda
in which city he had resided for 9 years.
He
is survived by his widow, Lydia, a daughter Mrs. Rose Marie Campbell of
Cumming, 2 sons, Gene of Savannah, Ga, and Gordon of
Traer, a brother,
Everett
Reynolds of Mt. Ayr, eight grandchildren and a host
of friends to cherish his memory.
Mr.
Reynolds was a former Lenox resident, and a brother-in-law of Mrs. Wm. Terry
and Eunice Eller, both of Lenox.

Percy
C. Stoner, 78, a former Lenox resident, died at his home to Creston Monday
evening.
Mr.
Stoner was born in Lenox Jan. 4, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stoner. He
was married to Stella Ferguson in Lenox March 9, 1910.
Survivors
include his widow, a son Willis of Creston, a brother and three sisters, one of
whom is Mrs. Clara Butler of Lenox.
Final
arrangements are pending.

Percy
C. Stoner, son of Henry and Jane Stoner was born on a farm near Lenox, Iowa on
Jan. 4, 1891 and passed away at his home 703 W. Prairie, Creston,
Iowa
at the, age of 78 years, 2 mo., and 6 days.
He
was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Creston and attended regularly
until illness prevented.
Most
of his life was spent in the Creston Community as a farm operator and livestock
dealer. After his retirement in 1961, his love for the farm created
a
desire to continue farming in a limited way until time of his death.
He
leaves to mourn, his wife Stella, a son Willis and wife Mary, three
grandchildren, Larry and wife Marilyn of Phoenix, Arizona, Jack and wife Paula
of
Houston,
Texas and Marilyn of Kansas City, Mo., 3 great grandchildren, Alan and Tom of
Phoenix and Angela of Houston, one brother, Lester, of El Cerrito, California,
3 sisters, Flora Francis of Clearfield, Cara Butler of Lenox and Bess Wells of
Pasadena, California and a host of relatives and friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and one sister.
He
was a loving husband and father and a good neighbor.
Services
were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Creston at 2 p. m. Thursday,
March 13, with the Rev. Dale Cunningham officiating and Mrs. Kenneth Petznick, organist. Interment was in the cemetery at Lenox.
A
memorial In Mr. Stoner's honor has been established for his church.

Frank
Sweeney, 69, retired farmer, died Monday afternoon at Rosary Hospital in
Corning. He had not been well for some time, but his last period of
hospitalization
was
brief after he suffered an attack on Saturday.
He
and his wife grew up near Imogene, Iowa, but had lived in the Conway and Lenox
areas since their marriage.
Rosary
was said Tuesday night at Bender Funeral Home at 8 o'clock. The services were
at St. Patrick's Church at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday, the Rev. Father
Wingert officiating, with burial in the Lenox cemetery.
He
leaves his widow, Ellen, 6 daughters and 4 sons: Florence Robinson, Lenox,
Maureen Walton, Denver, Colo., Carol Ann Sweeney, San Francisco, Cal.,
William
Sweeney, Prescott, Geo. Sweeney, Conway, Mary Evans, Lenox, Catherine Rainforth, Conway, Frances Meyers, Omaha, Nebr., Hubert and
Steven
Sweeney
of the home in Lenox. One, daughter, Margaret Sweeney, died in 1964. There are
26 grandchildren.
The
family said that a memorial is being established and contributions may be left
at the Bender Funeral Home.
Mr.
Sweeney was a member of St. Patrick's Church and of the American Legion, a
veteran of World War I.
Funeral
services were conducted from the St.
Patrick's Church in Lenox Wednesday morning at 10:30 with Father LaVern Wingert officiating.
Bearers
were John Reed, Chris Evans, Dick Robinson, Larry Sweeney, Kevin Sweeney, and
Stephen Robinson.
Burial
was in St. Patrick's cemetery.

Mrs Nell Wheeler died April 1st at her home in Corning, la. She had been in ill
health for some time.
Survivors
include a son, Joe of Denver, Colorado, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Angus of
Corning, Adams county auditor, and Madge Miller of Lenox. One sister,
Mrs.
Grace Gauthier of Corning, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a
host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Mrs.
Wheeler was preceded in death by her husband, Lisle, who for many years was to
the lumber business to Corning, and by two sons, Richard Lisle and Arthur
Thomas
who died to infancy.
Funeral
services were conducted April 3rd at the Corning Methodist Church with burial
at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Donald
Wing, 59, son of Mrs. Jessie Wing and a brother of Mrs. Jack Williams of Lenox,
died of a sudden heart attack Friday night in a Des Moines hospital
where
he had been a patient a week.
Survivors
besides the above include his wife, Jean, a son Leslie of Ventnor, New Jersey,
a daughter, Mrs. Marvin Beakler of Norwalk, Iowa, two
sisters,
Mrs.
John Roberts of Port Huron, Michigan and Mrs. Earl Wilson of Ames, Iowa, one
brother, Frank M. of Newton, Iowa along with five grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Walters Funeral Home in Colfax,
with Rev. Laurence Garrett of the Methodist Church officiating.
Burial
was in the Colfax cemetery.

Donald
P. Young, 35, former resident of Lenox, died at Greater Community hospital in
Creston Friday after a three month illness.
Donald P Young was born at Lenox, Iowa Aug 26, 1933. He was the son of Charles A and Ida M Willibee Young. He lived in this community until 1964 when he moved to Creston. He
was married to Karen Meyer at Maryville, Mo. Jan 3, 1964. Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Holly
Ester and a son, Marvin. Six brothers
also survive: George, Richard, Kenneth, and William Young of Lenox, Harold of
Des Moines and Dale Young of Granger. A
sister, Mrs Roy Case of Prescott also mourns his
passing.
Funeral
services were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon at the Salem Church with Rev J
William Raymond officiating.

Young,
Donald Paul -
Donald
Paul Young, son of the late Charles A. and Ida M. Young, was born on August 26,
1933 at Lenox, Iowa. He passed away at the Greater Community Hospital on
February 28, 1969 at the age of 35 years, 6 months and 2 days following an
illness of about three months.
Donald
is survived by his wife Karen and daughter Holly, also a son Marvin by a
previous marriage.
Also
surviving are brothers George E. of Lenox, la., Harold A. of Des Moines, la.,
Richard C., Kenneth D., and William C, all of Lenox, Dale R. of Granger, la.,
and one sister, Mrs. Roy (Betty) Case of Prescott, la., together with several
nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
On
January 3, 1964 he was united to holy matrimony with Karen A. Meyer in
Maryville, Mo. at the Hope Lutheran Church. To this union a daughter Holly Esther
was born in 1967.
At
the age of 11 years Don was stricken with diabetes, which later caused his
blindness in 1961.
Mr.
and Mrs. Young moved to Creston in April, 1964, where they united with the
Salem Lutheran Church and have been faithful and active members.
Since
August of 1966 Don and Karen have been employed by the Creston Medical Clinic
where they operated the emergency telephone service.
