Bender, Richard, and Mrs. Richard

Clearfield has received word of the death of Mrs. Richard
Bender on Oct. 7 and of Richard Bender on Oct. 12 in Bellevue,
Ore. They were former residents of the Clearfield community.
Surviving are two sons, Clyde and Albert, of Iowa, two daughters, Gladys Seufert of Dalles, Ore., and
Dorothy Young of Nome. Alaska; three brothers Perry of Maloy, Frank of Creston and Clyde of Shannon City. Funeral services and burial were in Bellevue, Ore.

Ed Berry, 76
years old, passed away Friday morning at the Terrill Nursing Home in Bedford,
where he has been for several months. He leaves one brother, Lee Berry of
Gravity. Funeral services were held on
Monday at two o'clock at the
Shum Funeral Home and burial at Indianola at two o'clock.

Mrs.
Dougherty passed away at the Creston hospital Thursday [Nov. 30] morning. She
was the mother of Pete Dougherty. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon
at 2 P. M. at the Shum Funeral Home in Bedford. Burial at New
Market.

Hargin,
William N. -
William N. Hargin was born in Taylor County, Iowa, February 4, 1873
and died August 15, 1050 at the home of his son,
Lowell Hargin, near Anita, la. He was united in marriage on
February 6, 1902, to Leona Bishop. Mr. and Mrs. Hargin were
the parents of
three children, Ronald and Fay of Virginia, Iowa, and
Lowell of Anita. He survived his wife only three
weeks. Besides
the three sons to revere his memory are four brothers, Bruce and John Hargin of Lenox, Ed Hargin of
Conway and Frank Hargin of Clearfield; also one
sister, Mrs. Ed Cooper of Conway. Funeral services were held at Anita, Iowa and burial at Anita cemetery.

Frank Goodman were called to Leon by the death of Frank Hembry,
82, on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Mrs.

Kelley, Fred B. -
Fred B. Kelley,
son of James and Elizabeth Kelley, was born July 19, 1880 at Weldon, Ill. and died
at his home in Kellerton
Iowa, Sept.
6, 1950, age 70 years one month and 18 days.
His mother
passed away when he was but eight years of age and he lived with relatives
until he was 16 years old, when he
came to Iowa,
making his home around Clearfield a greater part of his life. He recently moved
from a farm to Kellerton.
On January
8, 1902, he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Andrews, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. O. A. Andrews of
Clearfield.
He was a consistent member of the Methodist church from early life.
Mr. Kelley
is survived by his wife and one brother, Dr. S E Kelley of Florida.
Funeral
services were held on Sept. 8 in the J. R. Crew Funeral Home and burial in the
Clearfield cemetery.

Lofgren, Luther -
Luther
Lofgren, 69, prominent farmer seven and one half miles south of Lenox, was run
over with a combine Saturday
afternoon.
The wheel ran over his chest and crushed him. He and his son, Robert, were
combining clover seed when the accident occurred. He died one hour after the
accident, at 2:00 P. M., Saturday.
A short
service was held at the Arnold Funeral Home, on Tuesday at 11 a. m. with Rev. Merwin Coad as minister. The
regular service was conducted at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak at 2
P. M., Tuesday, with Rev. Ltngwall
officiating. Burial in Evergreen cemetery at Red Oak.
The family
formerly resided at Red Oak, but moved to this vicinity two years ago. Surviving are his
wife, Esther,
one son,
Robert, at home, and four sisters.

Morley, Ida Scott -
Mrs. Ida
Morley passed away at Armstrong Nursing home. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 P. M. at the Methodist Church
and burial in Gravity Cemetery. She leaves eight children: Mrs. Harry
Livingston of Cherokee, Mrs. D. Lewis of Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. Glen Widner of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mrs. Jay Lovitt of Gravity, Mrs. Ray Porter of Lorimer,
Tom Scott of Montezuma and Glen Scott of Ventura, Calif. All were present for
the services.

Word was
received Tuesday of the death of A. B. (Pete) Nash of Parnell, Mo., who was a
brother-in-law of Mrs. Fred
Clute. Those attending the funeral services held at Bedford on Wednesday afternoon
were Fred Clute of Lenox, George
Clute of Monroe, Mich., and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bailey of Diagonal.

Parkins, Florence Ellen Perkins Phillips -
Florence Ellen Perkins, daughter of Leonard and Nancy Sheets
Perkins was born Aug. 22, 1883, southwest of Clearfield, and died at her home
in Jackson, Minn. August 23, 1950, aged 67 years and 1 day.
She attended school and grew to womanhood near the place of
her birth. She was a member of the Christian church and of
the Woman's Relief Corps.
On Nov. 2, 1904 she was united in marriage to Jacob Phillips
and they located on a farm. Two sons were born to this
union,
Ned Phillips of Roleau Sask., Canada and Jake
Phillips of Jackson, Minn. On Jan. 28 1911, the husband and father
died.
On July 2, 1914, Ellen Phillips and J. Franklin Parkens were married and to them one son, Clarence Parkens of Terrill, Ia. was born.
Besides the husband and three sons to cherish her memory are
five grandsons, two brothers, Sam Perkins of Wallingford,
Iowa and Harry Perkins of Roleau, Canada; three sisters, Mary and Lenore Gaule of Clearfield and Edna Dowell of Diagonal.
Funeral service was held at 4:30 on Friday in Jackson, Minn.
The body was then brought to Clearfield where final rites were held Saturday at
the Christian church and burial in the Clearfield cemetery.

Viola T. Shott -
Mrs. Viola
Rogers of near Prescott died Thursday at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines
at the age of 62 years.
Funeral
services were held on Sunday, November 5th, at the Methodist church in Prescott
at 2 p. m-, Rev. Henry officiating. Burial at Evergreen cemetery in Prescott.
She is
survived by her husband, Ernest; two daughters, Mrs. Ernestine Riley of
Prescott and Mrs. Elizabeth Tennant of
Earlham, and one foster grand child.
Viola T. Shott. daughter of Leonard and Flora Shott was born October 9, 1888 at Prescott, Iowa, and passed away at the
Methodist hospital in Des Moines, November 2, 1950, at the age of
62 years and 23 days. She was united in marriage
to Ernest
Rogers on June 1, 1910 at her home in Lenox. Iowa. To his union were born two
daughters, Ernestine Riley of
Prescott, Iowa, and Elizabeth Tennant of Earlham, Iowa.
Mrs. Rogers
is survived by her husband, the two daughters, two sons-in-law, two sisters,
Mrs. Ila Webb of Cromwell, Iowa and Mrs. Purnell Wirt of Shelley, Idaho, one brother Dr. K. K. Shott of Buhl, Idaho, and one grandson, Gary Joe Riley.
She was a
member of the Prescott Methodist Church and also a member of the Eastern Star
Lodge at Lenox, Iowa.
Funeral
services were held at the Prescott Methodist church Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5,
conducted by Rev. Arthur Henry.

Smith, 79, a former Clearfield resident, died Nov. 14 in Wynnville, Okla. Mr. Smith
preceded her in death
Surviving
are two step children, Leah Courtney of Wynnville and
Paul Smith of Ottumwa. Iowa.

Yaw, Lola D. Williams –
Lola
Williams Yaw was born December 23, 1879 and passed away in Creston on the
morning of Nov. [?] 1950. Her husband,
H. Yaw who was a blacksmith in Diagonal preceded her in death. A son, Lee Yaw of Clearfield and a daughter,
Marie Burch survive, besides other relatives.
Services
were held at the Presbyterian Church in Diagonal with burial in the Diagonal
cemetery.
