Baldon,
Wm. Dutch –
Wm. Dutch Baldon, 65, died suddenly Friday Feb. 11 at his home near
Adel, Ia., where he had gone with his son, Fred, to water the cattle. Mr. Baldon was a former
resident of Clearfield, where he married Helen Morey, daughter of Mrs. Jennie
and the late Ray Morey. Besides his wife
Helen are 6 daughters, Anna Walker of Kellerton, Ia.; Creta Ward and Barbara Wickmer,
Des Moines, Betty Winget of Helena, Ia., Dorothy York
and Joan Brooker of Adel, and one son, Fred of Adel;
nine grandchildren, and one sister, Creta Reynolds of
San Diego, Calif. , besides other relatives and many friends who will cherish
his memory.
Funeral
services were held in the Christian church Monday Feb 14, the Rev
S Sinderson officiating. Burial was in Oakdale
cemetery near Adel.
Attending the funeral rites of Wm Baldon were Mr and Mrs Glen Routh, Mr and Mrs Bert Routh. Mr and Mrs Sam England and Mrs T W Bailey of Clearfield and Mr and Mrs Harry England of Creston.

Botleman,
Loren -
Friends in
Clearfield have received word of the death of a former resident, Dr Loren Botleman, at the Veterans Hospital
in Ft Wbipple, near Prescott. Ariz., following
a long illness, suffering from cerebral hemorrhage since 1951. He
returned
home in several
months to Flagstaff, Ariz., but suffered a relapse last August and has been in
the hospital since that date.
He was the
eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs A N Botleman and was born in Creston Aug 5, 1897. The
family moved to
Clearfield where he graduated from high school. He received his degree from Iowa
State College at Ames as Bachelor of
Science and in Psychology at Colorado University in 1934 and in 1937
in Engineering. He served
during World War I-with the Signal Corps. For many years he was Supt of schools
at Tracy, la., and Ordway, Colo. Six years he was Supt at Trinidad, Col. and of
late years Dean of Instruction at Arizona State College at Flagstaff.
He is
survived by his widow, two daughters Mrs Roland Grannan of Flagstaff and Mrs J L Nevlns of Cheyenne, Wyo.,
and one
brother, Paul Botleman of Denver, Colo. Funeral
services and burial were in Flagstaff.

Mrs Frank Bye
received a call from Creston Saturday morning telling of the sudden death of
her nephew. Harold Bye, 56,
following a stroke Friday night. He was a son of the late Robert Bye and Mrs Tom Smart. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr and Mrs Tom Smart of Creston;
a brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs Chas Johnson of Loveland, Colo.; a
niece, Mrs Alfred Blanchard lives in Creston; two nephews, Loyde Johnson of Loveland and Ac Franklin Johnson in
England.

Bye, Harold
Eugene -
Harold
Eugene, son of Robert and Ethel Voss Bye, was born northeast of Clearfield,
Iowa, October 25, 1899 and died suddenly in Creston, Iowa, August 5, 1955: Age, 55 years. The family moved to
Danville, III., in 1907, but returned to
Clearfield
in 1912 then moved to the Creston vicinity in 1930, where he spent the rest of
his life. The father died April 30,
1933. Harold
was industrious in his work and honest in all his dealings. For three years he was
custodian of the Uptown Theater.
He is
survived by his mother and the stepfather, Thos. Smart of Creston; one sister,
Lillian Johnson and the brother-in-law
Chas. Johnson, of Loveland. Colorado; two nephews, Ac
Franklin Johnson, now in England and Loyde Johnson of
Loveland, a niece, Mrs Alfred Johnson and family of
Creston.
Funeral was
held August 8, at Coen Funeral Home in Creston. Graveside
services at Clearfield Cemetery. Pall
bearers were Arthur, Sam and Leonard Smart, Floyde Frame,
Alva Jones and Ray Speer.

Hattie
Ditto, daughter of Charlie and Jane Richards, was born in Henry County, la., Aug 24, 1868, and
died July 2, 1955,
at the age of
86 years, 10 months and 8 days. She moved with her parents to Taylor County at
the age of 4 years.
She was
married Sept 12, 1888 to J W Ditto who passed away
February, 1935. To this union 4 children
were born, Mrs Georgia Borden of Sharpsburg; R W
Ditto of South Makwa, Sask., Canada; Mrs Vevia Farnham and Mrs Zeldia
Kjendolen of Sioux Falls, S. D. These children are
left to mourn. Also 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren,
2 great great grandchildren and one brother, George
Richards of Monmouth, Ore., many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She and her
husband united with the Presbyterian church at
Sharpsburg, la., about 46 years ago. Later moving to Maryville, Mo., they
transferred their membership to the Christian church at Maryville, She had been
a resident of Sharpsburg since 1950. One brother and one sister preceded her in
death.
She was a
kind and loving mother and will be greatly missed. She is gone but not forgotten.
Services
were held from the Presbyterian church in Sharpsburg
July 5 at 2 .p. m. Donald W Gibson, minister. Officiating,
Burial at Gravity cemetery.

Walter Earl
Jones, first son of Thomas J and Rebecca Hall Jones was born Sept 28, 1886 on a
farm near Benton, la. He departed this life March 15 1955 being 68 years, 5
months and 15 days of age. When just a small boy of 8 years his mother was taken in death
leaving him, one brother and three sisters in the care of their father. The oldest sister was 13 years of age. He grew to manhood in the Benton
vicinity receiving his education in a rural school.
When a young
man, 16 years of age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized and
united with the first Christian
church at Benton under the ministry of Rev Chas O Stout, He remained a believer in that faith up to
the end.
It was in
the home of N A Gunter at Benton, la., on Feb 21 1909
he was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Belle Gunter.
To this
union five children came to bless the home but God took three of the children
home with Him, Treva Beatrice, age
9; Cecal Marvin, age 6 and Thomas Jefferson, age 17 mo. The two surviving children are Olive Mildred, now Mrs Henry
Stephens of Alderwood Manor, Wash., and
Weldon Earl of New Market, la. Both of the children were with the mother at- the time of his
passing.
Walter's
choice of his life work was farming. He received much pleasure from this work.
When threshing in 1936 he was accidently hurt by a fall on a pitchfork and was
never well. He finally was forced to give up the farm on account of his health
and he and his wife moved to Sharpsburg, la.
He worked as
a janitor of the school house for five years. He did this work on crutches and
was helped by his wife He loved the work and enjoyed the children. He was then forced to give up the janitor
work and was confined to his home in a wheelchair He still watched the children
at play. The last 5 weeks of his life ne had the pleasure of having with him
his daughter Olive and little grandson Harry, whom he had not seen for five
years.
He leaves to
feel his loss his faithful wife, Elsie, who so tenderly cared for him, never
tiring of her work through many years of his sickness; his daughter Olive and
son Weldon; 9 grandchildren and one little great granddaughter, 5 months of
age, a daughter-in-law, Cleta Jones, a son-in-law,
Henry Stephens; one brother Milton Jones, Tingley, la
; two sisters, Mrs Muriel Baxter of Clearfield; Mrs Grace Spleer of Diagonal,
la.; one half sister, Mrs Florence Gleason of
Columbus, Mont.; 2 step sisters, Mrs Clara McFarland
of Mt. Ayr, la and Mrs Mae Dillenburg, Benton, la., and many nieces nephews, cousins
and a host of friends. Two sisters
preceded him in death.
Funeral
services were held at the Methodist church in Sharpsburg, conducted by Rev Kess.

died Tuesday, March 15 at his home in Sharpsburg. Funeral services were held
Friday afternoon in the Methodist church in Sharpsburg. Burial was in
Marshalltown cemetery east of Benton

Kirk Kimpton 7 year old son of Mr and Mrs Homer Kempton passed away at his home northwest of here
Friday morning.
He had .been
in ill health for several months. Funeral services were at the Christian church

Ned Earl Lyddon son of Chas. F and
Elizabeth A Lyddon was born Jan 27, 1878 near Alexis,
Ill., and died Feb 19, 1955 at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr and Mrs Sidney Bixler in West Clearfield at the age of 77 years and 20
days.
The family moved to Iowa in March, 1898, and made the
vicinity of Clearfield their home.
Mr Lyddcn chose farming for his work which he followed
for a number of years. On Feb 18, 1903 he was united in marriage to Delia Bowen
and they located on a farm SW of Clearfield where they lived until 1908 when
they moved to
Clearfield where Mr Lyddon entered the mercantile
business, later joining his father in the automobile business.
To this union were born two sons, Earl B who died in infancy
and Charles F who lives in Omaha. The wife and mother died Feb 9, 1939.
In early life he united with the Christian Advent church, later
transferring his membership to the Baptist church. He was also a member of the Masonic
lodge.
Besides his wife and infant son he was preceded in death by
his parents; a sister, Myrtle and a brother, Irvin Elzie.
To
cherish his memory are his son Charles F and wife and their
son Charles F. III, Mrs Daisy Bixler and husband, a niece, Merle Haynes and
husband, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p m Feb 19 at J R Crew
Funeral Home, the Rev F H Cowles of Bedford officiating. Burial in
Clearfield cemetery. Casket bearers were Glen Routh, Elzie Lyddon, Bert Routh, Ray Lyddon, Vern Yarde and Dean Lyddon.

Glenna May Hunter was born to George S. and Dora K. Hunter
near Lenox on June 11, 1892. She spent most
of life in and around Lenox.
She was married April 17, 1926 to Ed J. Nesbitt, a Lenox
druggist, later moving to Los Angeles, Calif. where Mr. Nesbitt continued in
the drug business as long as health permitted.
He preceded
his wife in death Jan 22, 1955. Glenna joined her husband in death March 8,
1955, at the home in Sun Valley, Cal. at the age of 62 years, 8 months, and 8
days.
She leaves
to mourn her passing one daughter, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, l
brother Lonnle Hunter, Lenox;
4 sisters, Mrs Myrtle Walter, of Lenox; Mrs Margaret Wurster, Evergreen. Colo.; Mrs Enola Kinser, Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs
Stella Andrews, Eagle Grove; a number of nieces and nephews and a
host of friends.
Funeral
services were at Valley Lutheran church. Interment in San
Fernando Mission cemetery.

the funeral services in Des Moines Monday for Mrs Ernest Roush, 51, who died suddenly Saturday morning were her brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs John Blessman, Mr and Mrs Leroy Blessman, Mr and Mrs Herman Wurster and Mr and Mrs Otto Blessman. She is survived by her husband,
Ernest Roush. Burial was in Des Moines.

Mr Willard L
Summers, dynamic and brilliant president of the Inland Trading Co. of Chicago
and Hammond, Ind., died
of a heart
attack in an Evanston hospital August 5.
Mr Summers
had. just passed his 40th birthday and since his father's
death had full responsibility of management of their
extensive industrial and farming operations. He was active in religious and social
circles and a member of the Chicago planning board.
Surviving
are his widow Lucille; two sons, Willard L Jr. and John, a daughter Marjorie
and his mother, Mrs J F Summers
of Chicago. The funeral services were Aug 8 in Chicago
with burial at Skokie, HI.

Moines. She was the former Beulah Allen, daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Allen. She was preceded in death, by her parents

George Wilcoxsin, 70, died Monday morning at his home in Cameron,
Mo., after a heart attack. He was a former resident
of the
Gravity-Sharpsburg area. Survivors: his widow, Gertie;
1 son, John of Kansas City; five grandchildren and 1 great grand child.
Mr Wilcoxsin was an uncle of Mrs Vertis Reeder of Lenox. She and her husband attended the funeral at Cameron,
Mo., Wednesday. Burial was at Osborn, Mo.

called to the Wion Nursing Home in Mt Ayr Friday by the death of Mrs Mary (Carr) Williams, 90, of Blockton.
The body was
brought to the Crew Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p m at
the Methodist church in
Blockton. Burial in Blockton cemetery. Nieces and nephews survive.

J R Henderson drove to Ames and brought Mrs Henderson, home Monday. She had been helping, in the home of her sister, Mrs Glen Young, whose husband was a hospital patient. Word was received Tuesday morning that Mr Young had
passed away suddenly during the night.
