Barnes, Elsie Mae Bryn Dukes –

Mrs. A. C. Barnes passed away on Friday at her home in Corning.  Funeral services were conducted on Monday at the Roland Funeral home with burial at Gravity.

 

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by one son, and is survived by her husband and seven children: Kermit and Anita Barnes and Earl Ray Dukes, at home; Viola Starlin of Kent, Drexel Dukes of Ogden, Utah, Virgil Dukes of Clarinda and Russell Dukes of Lenox.  She is also survived by her mother, one brother and three sisters.

 

Elsie Mae Byrn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Byrn, was born Sept. 1, 1900 near Sheridan, Mo., and departed this life on March 11, 1949, at her home in Corning, Iowa, at the age of 48 years, 6 months and 11 days.

 

She was united in marriage to Leslie Dukes on May 3, 1919.  To this union five children were born, Virgil of Clarinda, Russell of Lenox, Drexel of Ogden, Utah, Viola Starlin of Kent and Ray, at home.  Leslie preceded her in death on April 2, 1934.

 

She was united in marriage to A. C. Barnes on Feb. 27, 1935.  Three children were born to this union:  Anita, at home, at present in the hospital at Iowa City; Kermit, also at home, and Franklin Charles, who died in infancy.

 

She is also survived by her faithful husband, A. C., who had tenderly cared for her during her failing health; her mother, Mrs. Emily Jane Byrn of Gravity; three sisters, Zelda Brown of Maryville, Mo.; Ruby McGinness of Inglewood, Calif.; Freda Corbin, Gravity, and one brother, Rawleigh, of Blockton; and nine grandchildren.

 

She spent her early life near Sheridan, Mo., till in 1936 she moved near Sharpsburg, and her last days near Corning.

 

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 14, at 2 p.m. from the Boyd Roland Co. Funeral home in Corning, conducted by Rev. F. E. Whittlatch.  Music was by Mrs. F. E. Whittlatch, Mrs. V. K. Griffith and Mrs. Paul Griffith.  Paul bearers were Carl Rex, Clyde Fudge, Sid Grill, Oscar Grill, Orville Cooper and George Bothell.  Interment was made at Gravity.

Becherer, Alma Maria Reed –

Alma M. Becherer, wife of W.E. Becherer, passed away Wednesday of this week at the Municipal hospital in Clarinda, at the age of 53 years, 5 months and 13 days.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 12, at the Christian church at 2 p.m.  Minister in charge will be E. F. Hagee.

 

Interment in the Lenox cemetery.

 

Surviving are her husband and three children, Gene of Hastings, Nebr., Shirley of Des Moines and Wilma, at home

Becherer, Alma Maria Reed –

Alma Maria Reed, daughter of David and Etta Reed, was born in Lenox, Iowa, on Sept. 25, 1895 and passed away at the Municipal hospital in Clarinda, Iowa, on March 9, 1949, at the age of 53 years, 5 months, and 13 days. 

 

She was united in marriage with Will Becherer on March 3, 1920.  To this union three children were born:  Gene of Hastings, Neb., Shirley Ann of Des Moines, and Wilma, at home. 

 

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, one son, Gene and his wife, Nadine, and one grandson, Larry Gene, two daughters, Wilma and Shirley Ann.  Also two brothers, Charlie and Ross Reed, of Lenox, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Laura McPherren of Corning, Iowa, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

 

She completed her education at Lenox high school and taught school for six years.  At the age of ten years she joined the Presbyterian church at Sharpsburg, Iowa, and on April 9, 1912, she transferred her membership to the Church of Christ in Lenox.  She was active in church work, and was a teacher in the Sunday school and president of the Thursday Girls.  She was active in club work, being a member of the M.F.C. and L.A.L. clubs.  She was an officer in the Legion Auxiliary unit, also participated in Red Cross, polio, and Blue Cross work.  For the past year she was county chairman of the Women’s Work Division of the Farm Bureau of Taylor County.  She had spent her entire life in Taylor county.

 

Services were held at the Christian church in Lenox at 2 p.m. March 12, conducted by her former pastor, Rev. E. F. Hagee of St. Joseph, Mo., and assisted by Rev. C. W. Richardson of Lenox.  The Legion Auxiliary conducted a short graveside service.  Interment was made in the Fairview cemetery.

Chandler, John Fielden -

John Fielden Chandler, son of T. J. and Mary Chandler, was born on May 27, 1896 at Brentwood, Ark., and passed away at his home near Hamilton, Mont., on April 9th.

 

His boyhood days were spent in Arkansas, later moving to Illinois with his family, where they resided a few years before coming to Lenox on June 4, 1917.

 

Fielden was united in marriage to Pearl Terry, daughter of the

late Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Terry, Sr. To this union was born one

daughter, Dorothy. Fielden and family lived on a farm near

Lenox until the spring of 1932, when they moved to Minnesota

for  few years before going to Montana where they have resided

the last 11 years. Fielden was a kind, loving husband and father, and made many friends wherever he might be. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

 

Survivors are his widow, Pearl, daughter, Dorothy Dickerson,

son-in-law, George, and two grandsons of Stevensville, Mont., his loving father, T. J. Chandler of Lenox, five sisters, Bertha Barker of Central City, Colo., Belle Honeycutt, Hamilton, Cordelia Fine of Diagonal, Charlotte Wortman, Denver, Colo., and Sylvia Brown, Diagonal. Three brothers, C. H. Chandler, Bushnell, Ill., Thomas,

Clearfield, and Lloyd at Sharpsburg.

 

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon, April 13,

in the Dowling Funeral chapel at Hamilton, conducted by Rev.

C. G. Spellman, Stevensville. Interment at Riverview cemetery.

Copeland, Otto Leslie –

O.L. Copeland, prominent Lenox business man, passed away from a heart attack at his home Wednesday evening at 8:30.  He and Mrs. Copeland had just returned from a drive when he was stricken.

 

Mr. Copeland started in business in Lenox at his present occupation with his father, when he was 16 years old.  He would have been 68 the 30th of this month.  All his life has been spent in the business here.

 

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Clifford Walter of Long Beach, Calif., who, with her husband is flying home, and Mrs. Wm. Fisher of Lenox.

 

Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time.

Copeland, Otto Leslie -

Otto Leslie Copeland, son of Charles Henry Copeland and Anna Murphy Copeland, was born April 30, 1881, on a farm near Villisca, Iowa, and died at his home in Lenox on April 13, 1949, at the age of 67 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Copeland, both of whom preceded him in death.

 

He attended business college in Shenandoah and moved to Lenox

with his parents about 1900.  He and his father conducted a Produce business here for many years, known as the C. H. Copeland and Son Produce. After his father's retirement in 1920, E. L. Wells became a partner in the business which then became known as the Copeland

and Wells Produce. The firm continued under that name. Mr.Wells passed away in 1934, and Mr. Copeland continued in the business alone. He was known as "Cope" to his many friends.  To his work he gave himself unreservedly and built a business establishment which became widely known.

 

On Sept. 16, 1909, he was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Runyon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Runyon of Lenox. In the immediate family there are left to cherish his memory his wife and two daughters. The daughters are Gretchen, now Mrs. Clifford Walter of Long Beach, Calif., and Phyllis, now Mrs. William Fisher, of Lenox.

There are two granddaughters, Sandra Lee Walter, Cheryl Ann

Fisher, and one grandson, William H. Fisher II.

 

Reared in a United Presbyterian home, Mr. Copeland became a member of that church  during the revival meeting in 1915. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church choir for many years. He was a charter member of the Lenox Rotary club, and a former member of the "Modern Woodmen Organization," and of the Creston

Elks Club. He was a lover of fine music. His major interests were his business, his family and his church.

 

The immediate family, relatives, neighbors and friends and people who were his business associates are saddened by his passing, and will be reminded of his kindly disposition, his genial smile and the word of encouragement he was so ready to give. Many will miss Mr. Copeland's sympathetic interest in all affairs of community and

church life.

 

Funeral services were held at the Arnold Funeral home Sunday

afternoon, April 17th, at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the Rev. Earl Moneymaker and Dr. Clair Hawthorne. Burial was in the Lenox cemetery. Music was in charge of Mrs. Forrest Whipp. Pallbearers were Roy Nelson, E. C. Dunbar, Ivan Carey, David Morris, Haldean

Doubet, Elizabeth Sarah -

Mrs. Elizabeth Sarah Doubet, 90, died at her home in Clearfield

Saturday evening. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday in the home with Rev. Callison of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Clearfield cemetery.

 

Born Oct. 21, 1858, she moved to Clearfield shortly after she was married, spending the remaining 71 years in Clearfield.

Eckels, Alexander S. –

Alec S. Eckels passed away at the Bedford Nursing home on Tuesday, April 12, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 7 days.  Funeral services were held on Thursday at the Arnold Funeral home at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Earl Moneymaker, and interment made in the Stringtown cemetery.

 

Deceased came to Adams county with his parents in 1863 and had spent his life here.  He was unmarried and his trade was that of a painter.  His parents were Dan and Elizabeth Eckels, long time farmers and Adams co. residents.

Eckels, Alexander S. –

Alexander Eckels, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Simmons Eckels was born near Barnsville, Ohio, Sept. 5, 1859 and died on April 12, 1949, at the Armstrong Nursing home in Bedford, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and 7 days.

 

He came to Iowa with his parents at the age of 5 years and had spent most of his life in and around Lenox.  He was preceded in death by seven brothers, William, Lafe, Thomas, John, Philip, George and Daniel, and two sisters, Katherine Cattlett and Emma Norrlinger. 

 

He is survived by one brother, Sam, of Clearwater, Fla., and a host of nieces and nephews.  In early life he united with the Baptist church.

 

Funeral services were held in the Arnold Funeral home on Thursday April 14, at 2:00 o’clock with Rev. Earl Moneymaker in charge.  Interment was in Stringtown cemetery.

Francis, Catherine Wilson –

Mrs. Catherine Francis, 67, who lived on a farm three miles northwest of Kent, died at the Greater Community hospital at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday after a long illness.

 

Funeral services were held at Prairie Star Church, near Kent of which she was a member.  Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. J. W. Chase, assisted by Rev. A. E. Kiser of Creston, officiating.  Burial was in Morgan cemetery near Kent.

 

Catherine Wilson was born in Union county, Sept. 1, 1881.  She was the daughter of John and Margaret Ann Cartwright Wilson.  She was married in Creston February 16, 1916, to Frank A. Francis, who survives.

 

Surviving in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Christensen of Kent, two granddaughters, Frances Ann and Patricia Jane Christensen, six sisters, Mrs. Laura Crittenton of Galesburg, Mich., Mrs. Alice Clark of Bremerton, Wash., Mrs. Harriet Preston of Corning, Mrs. Sarah Anderson of Creston, Zenida Wilson of Coachella, Calif., and Mrs. Martha Keisling, of Creston, and three brothers, Tom V. Wilson of Beaumont, Tex., Grover C. Wilson of Madison, Wis., and Allen T. Wilson, of Torrington, Wyo.

Gait, Margaret Murphy –

Mrs. John Gait, 63, died at her home in Brush, Colo., on Tuesday, March 28.  She is survived by her husband and one daughter of Brush, her sister, Mrs. Oliver Turner of Corning and her brother, John Murphy of Fort. Morgan, Colo.  Mrs. Gait will be remembered as Margaret Murphy.  She spent her young life in Lenox, leaving here in 1911 to make her home in Colorado.

Haviland, T. W. –

Death came on Monday morning at the Jones Nursing home in Creston to T. W. Haviland, father of Mrs. O. C. Bassett.  Mr. Haviland had not been well for several months.  He would have 86 years of age had he lived until the 28th of this month.

 

Funeral services were conducted from the Roland Funeral home in Corning on Thursday afternoon, with burial at Corning.  Mr. Haviland was one of the pioneers of Adams county. 

 

He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. O. C. Bassett and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Keeran, Donald A. –

Two young fliers from Clarinda met instant death Sunday afternoon, at about four p.m. when their ski-equipped Piper Cub plane crashed on the farm of Lyle Harris, two miles north and one mile east of New Market.  Victims were a Clarinda high school student, 18-year-old, Robert L. Schenck, and Donald A.  Keeran, 25, post office clerk at Clarinda.

 

The plane belonged to Ray Schenck, manager of the airport at Clarinda, who is Robert’s father.  Sheriff Harry Lucas said he was told that the plane had circled a field three times while the occupants waved to Harris.  The last time around the plane had lost so much altitude that it could not complete a bank and crashed into a ditch.

 

Schenck is survived by his parents and a brother.  Ronald Keeran, leaves his wife, one son, Craig, four years old, and a brother and sister.

Livingston, J. T. –

J. T. Livingston, 85, a longtime resident of Kent, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Balmer in Monmouth, Ill., Sunday afternoon.  Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Monmouth at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Mr. Livingston is survived by three sons, F. W. Livingston and Earl Livingston, both of Creston, and Leroy Livingston of Springfield, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Onstat of Norwalk, Ia., two granddaughters, Mrs. E. M. “Dutch” Corning, and Darlene Swanson of Norwalk; two great grandchildren, a brother and a sister.  Two sisters preceded him in death.

Mainquist, Wm. –

Wm. Mainquist of Omaha, Nebr., brother of A E. Mainquist, passed away Thursday at the Clarkson hospital in that city.  Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Mainquist went to Red Oak Monday to attend funeral services which were held in the Lutheran church there.  Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Nicholls, Etta –

George Page of Ottawa, Kan., and Mrs. Eva Schmitt of Kansas City, Mo., motored to Lenox on Tuesday.  From here they were accompanied by Mrs. Fern Hale and Mrs. Lyle Hale to Orient, where they attended the funeral of an aunt, Mrs. Etta Nicholls.  Her sister, Mrs. Emma Hayes had preceded her in death just two weeks previous.  The passing of Mrs. Nicholls takes the last member of the G. W. Page family, old time settlers of Lenox.

Quinn, C. F. –

C. F. Quinn, 79, a former Diagonal publisher, died at his home in Sanger, Calf., Thursday morning.  Mr. Quinn was editor and publisher of the Diagonal Progress more than 30 years ago.  He moved to California about 30 years ago and had lived there since.  Funeral services were held in Sanger Saturday and burial was made there.  John Ostrander and W. D. Herrington of Diagonal are brothers-in-law of Mr. Quinn.

Reynolds, Harold C. –

Harold C. Reynolds, son of Annis and Pearl Reynolds was born June 25, 1923, in Lenox and was killed in the invasion of Bougainville Island on November 9, 1943, at the age of 20 years, four months and 14 days.  He was a graduate of Lenox high school in the class of 1941.  Harold enlisted in the United States Marines January 13, 1943.  He is survived by his mother and father, two brothers, Gerald of Long Beach, Calif., and Robert and three sisters, Betty Holben, Virginia and Evelyn, many other relatives and a host of friends.

 

The funeral services was held at 2:30 Sunday and was in charge of Rev. C. W. Richardson.  Music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Rollie Bender, Mrs. Eugene Paymal, Mr. James Arneal and Mr. Paul Davis.  They were accompanied by Mrs. A. H. Peacock.  The local American Legion post was in charge of graveside ceremonies.

Richey, Dallas Norman –

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church at Sharpsburg for Dallas Richey, 76, who died at his home in Sharpsburg Tuesday at 5 a.m.  Burial was in Lenox Cemetery.  Surviving  are his widow, Carrie, one sister, Mrs. O. M. Brown of Lenox, two brothers, Shannon and Ed Richey of Sharpsburg, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Anna Wainwright of Lenox, and a number of nieces and nephews.  He was a resident of Taylor county most of his life.

Richey, Dallas Norman –

Dallas Norman, son of Isaac and Abigail Richey, was born September 30,  1872, in Birmingham, Van Buren, County, Iowa.  On December 1, 1906, he was married to Miss Carrie Wolfe, and is was their pleasure to raise within their home Georgia Iona Foster, who is now married and resides as Mrs. Stark in Galveston, Texas.

 

Mr. Richey’s business and social interest within the community of Sharpsburg, where he has resided and worked for over half a century, are well know and remembered by a host of friends.  He was a member of the Sharpsburg Presbyterian church.

 

His passing away at his home on March 29, 1949, at the age of 76, leaves his wife, Carrie Richey; a sister, Mrs. Otis Brown of Lenox; and two brothers, Ison Edward and Shannon DeForrest both of Sharpsburg; and with them many nephews and nieces. 

 

The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Sharpsburg Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Gordon F. MacLean of Bedford.  Pianist was Mrs. Belle Anderson, soloist Lowell Shum; songs, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” and “In the Garden.”  Casket bearers were Ralph Rutledge, Milton Faurot, Vic Mendenhall, Earl McCallough, Franklin Anderson and Paul Chitty.

Schenck, Robert L. –

Short, John –

John Short, youngest child of John and Elizabeth Short was born Sept. 15th, 1872, at Listowel Canada, and departed this life Feb. 24th 1949, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 29 days.  At the age of 5 years he came to Iowa with his parents, who settled near Conway.

 

In 1896 he was married to Floy Seamans.  He united with the Church of Christ at Blue Grove in 1907 and later transferred his membership to the Church of Christ at Lenox. 

 

In 1908 he moved to his farm six miles east of Lenox, where he resided until 1941, when on account of failing health, he moved to Lenox, where  he lived until death claimed him.

 

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Floy Short, his two daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Beck of Lenox and Mrs. Delphos Bell of Des Moines.  Also 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

 

One daughter, Mrs. Gladys Long, preceded him in death in 1938.

Snodgrass, Hattie  C. Coe –

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Snodgrass, 78, were held on Sunday at the Methodist church in Diagonal, with Rev. Ida Roberts officiating.  Interment was in Graceland cemetery, Creston.

 

Mrs. Snodgrass, a cousin of Budd Moore, and for many years a resident on a farm nine miles east of Lenox before moving to Diagonal, was found dead in her home on Friday morning of last week.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband in June 1929, and is survived by two sons, Orville of Diagonal and Chall of Creston.

Snodgrass, Hattie C. Coe –

Hattie C. Coe, daughter of John J. and Mary Coe, was born May 10, 1870, at Magnolia, Putnam County, Ill. where she grew to womanhood.  She departed this life Feb. 18, 1949, at her home in Diagonal, aged 78 years, nine months and eight days.

 

She was married December 1, 1886 to Robert G. Snodgrass, and three sons were born to this union, O.J. of Diagonal, Willis, who died at the age of eighteen months and Chall H. of Creston.

 

In 1894, the family moved to a farm nine miles east of Lenox.  In 1918 the family removed to Diagonal, where Mrs. Snodgrass has since made her home.

 

 She was the youngest and the last survivor of a family of a family of two brothers and two sisters, and leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She had a wide acquaintance of neighbors and friends who will miss her sincerely.

She joined the church in the family home in Illinois, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church at Diagonal.  Mrs. Snodgrass’ life was marked by her energy and capability, unusual in one of her advanced years.  She maintained her own home until 1940, when she suffered a fractured hip, and whenever possible since that time care for herself in her home.

 

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon in the Diagonal Methodist church with the Rev. Miss Ida Roberts, pastor, in charge.  Interment was in Graceland cemetery, Creston –Diagonal Reporter.

Trivelpiece, Charles Draper –

C.D. Trivelpiece, 70, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adolph Mattes at the farm home about 8 miles southwest of Lenox Sunday.  The body was taken to the old home at Hamburg for burial.

Underwood, Lyle –

Lyle Underwood died at the Veterans hospital, Des Moines, Thursday afternoon, March 17 [1949] after an illness of several weeks.  The funeral services were held at the Shum Funeral home in Bedford Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Russell G. Nye.  Burial was in Fairview cemetery where military honors were given by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

 

Lyle Wayne Underwood, son of Carrie and Clarence Underwood, was born in Sharpsburg, Iowa, August 23, 1913, being aged 35 years, 6 months and 24 days at the time of his death.

 

The following March after his return from the army, he again started farming on a farm 4 miles southeast of Bedford, where he resided until February 1949, when ill health forced him to give up his work and enter the hospital.

 

Surviving are his wife and two children, Sharon Kay aged 6, and William Wayne, aged 2, and his father, C.M. Underwood of Bedford, three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Elder of Lenox, Mrs. Myrna Bush and Mrs. Mable Knott of Sharpsburg.

 

His mother and one brother, Glade, preceded him in death.  He was a loving and devoted husband and father.  He resided with his parents in and near Sharpsburg until he was 12 years old, when the family moved to Minnesota for one year.  Then they returned to Taylor county, where he spent the remainder of his life.

 

He united with the Methodist church at Sharpsburg.  He was married to Lucille Souder of Bedford on Jan. 21, 1941.  They resided on a farm east of Sharpsburg until he was called to serve his country on Sept. 25, 1942.  He spent three years in the armed forces, serving in Alaska, the European and Pacific theatres of war.  He received his discharge on Dec. 5, 1945.

Utterback, J. C. –

Funeral services will be held at Seymour on Thursday at 11 a.m. for Rev. J. C. Utterback who passed away at the University hospital in Iowa City on Monday.  A short service and burial will be held at Delta on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.  Rev. Utterback came to Lenox in February 1948 to be pastor of the Christian church here.  He and his family moved to Seymour in December where he served as pastor of the Christian church.  Surviving are his widow and two sons, Robert and John.

Walter, Henry -

Henry Walter, 72, died at his home five and one half miles northwest of Lenox on Tuesday morning. He had suffered two strokes during the night.

 

Funeral services were conducted at Salem church Thursday at 2 p.m. Clergymen officiating were Rev. Homer Caskey and Rev. Chas. Colyn. Interment in Salem cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Klinzman,

Raymond Riley, Lester Dotson, Everett Symonds, Roy Riley and Judson Caskey. Music was furnished by Mrs. Olive Ranck.

 

Born on a farm near Lenox, he was considered a pioneer resident of Taylor county and was active in the Salem church. Surviving are his widow, Jessie; two sons, Ray of Corning, Dale of Prescott and one

daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hettinger of Lenox. One son, Lon, preceded

him in death.

 

Also surviving him  are four brothers, Ben, J. J. and Lewis of Lenox and A. A. of Excelsior Springs, Mo., three sisters, Mrs. Melita Ely

of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. S. F. Hufnagel and Mrs. Delia Walker of Lenox. Five grandchildren also survive him in death.

Wilt, Frank –

Frank Wilt, son of James and Catherine Ann Wilt, was born April 17, 1870, in a long cabin on the Wilt homestead five miles east of Lenox.  He passed away at his home in Lenox February 11 [1949] at the age of 78 years, nine months and 24 days, after an illness of two years, the last year being confined to his bed.

 

When a young man he joined the Methodist church at Calvary, later transferring his membership to the Lenox Methodist church.

 

On December 29, 1898, he was united in marriage to Eva Hastings of Creston, who passed away in 1923.  On April 1, 1925, he was again married to Mrs. Zetta Clark, who survives him

 

Frank was the fifth of six brother.  S. P. Wilt is the only one who survives.  The brothers, Cassius, Eli, Harry, and Dora Wilt, preceded him in death.  Harry preceded him by only 23 days.

 

He is survived by his wife, several nieces and nephews and many friends.  He was a patient sufferer, always cheerful and grateful for all that was done for him.  He always enjoyed his many friends in their frequent visits.  He will be greatly missed in the home and by his friends and neighbors.

 

The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Lenox at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14.  The service was in charge of Rev. Clarence Richardson and music was furnished by Mrs. Eugene Paymal and Mrs. Rollie Bender accompanied by Mrs. Grace Peacock.
