Thompson,
George A –
Additional
details of the accident which took the life of George Thompson have been
supplied by the family since they returned home from Boise, Idaho where the
event happened.
Mr and Mrs Thompson, their daughter, Loretta and Mrs Thompson’s mother, Mrs. Kate Sawvell were driving near the city limits of Boise about 1
a.m. Tuesday, July 22. They saw an
oncoming car swerving across the road. As it came near it was out of control and swung in front of them. There was a guard rail at the right side of
the road so it was impossible to avoid the car.
The Thompson
car was hit on the left front fender and the other car in front of the right
front door. An Air Force man, 26 years
of age, was alone in the car, and presumably under the influence of liquor.
Mrs Thompson
suffered 7 broken ribs, besides facial injuries but she and Loretta came by
plane to Omaha Friday evening. Mrs. Sawvell had 3 broken ribs. She came to Omaha Saturday evening and is now home.
Mr Thompson’s
body was kept at Boise until an inquest was finished Wednesday and arrived in
Creston Friday. The funeral was at the
Lenox Christian Church Saturday afternoon, with the minister Rev. Robert Duckett officiating. The obituary is in this paper.
