[Huntsman, Annetta Amanda “Nettie”] Bedford Free Press Thursday May 19, 1899 p. 4 Siam On Tuesday of last week Miss Nettie Huntsman quietly passed away after an illness of several months with that dread disease consumption. The funeral was preached on Wednesday, at 2 o'clock, at the Christian church by the pastor, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Siam cemetery followed by a large concourse of sympathizing friends, of which she had many. She was a girl loved by all who knew her, and the community sympathize with her relatives in this sad bereavement. [Huntsman, Annetta Amanda “Nettie”] Bedford Free Press Thursday June 8, 1899 [p. 1] Obituary. Annetta Amanda Huntsman was born in Siam, Iowa, June 20, 1867, and passed away from this earthly life, May 9, 1899, at 1:30 p. m. aged 30 years, 10 months, and 10 days. Living all the days of her life in this quiet hamlet, she became known to friends as only those can around whom similar circumstances cluster. No empty words can fill her place; no tender hand of sympathy may smooth away the lines of sorrow for her early call; no loving gift may fill her empty place, but still the memory of the past, of the life she lived, of the works of her hands and the deeds of her heart are an ever present monument of comfort to those who are "just waiting outside the portal of the Eternal Home." A faithful follower of the Lord, she has "finished the course" and has "kept the faith." She was converted and united with the M. E. church, at the age of 14 years. Four years ago she united with the Christian church, of which she was a faithful member until her death. On the last day her mother spoke to her and asked her "Nettie, do you realize? Is it all right? Are you afraid?" And with a heavenly smile lighting up her countenance she said that "it was all right, I love the daylight; won't it be nice in the sunshine?" and with these words upon her mortal lips her immortal spirit took its flight to its God. Blessed are they who die in the Lord." [HUNTSMAN, ANNETTA AMANDA "NETTIE" We miss thy kind and willing hands
