MARIE PARK

Funeral services for Marie Park, age 94 of Bedford, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the Bedford Nursing & Rehab Center, were held Friday, April 25, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford. Interment was held in the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given in Marie's name. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Bedford.

Marie Belle Park was born December 21, 1908, in Parnell, Missouri the daughter of Woodford Marion Stone and Nina (Johnson) Stone. When Marie was only five years old, her family moved to their farm southwest of Bedford where she grew up and attended Patch Rural School. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1927 and taught in the rural Bailey School for one year. On May 19, 1928, she was united in marriage to Thomas Park, Jr., in Clarinda, Iowa. To this loving union five children were born, Harold, Norma, Mary Ellen, Marvin and Donna.

Marie and Thomas farmed for thirty-six years of their marriage, purchasing their own farm west of Bedford in 1944. Later in life, she worked at the Kings Food Host restaurant in Council Bluffs, the Junction Cafe in Bedford and at the Bedford Nursing Home. She was a member of the Christian (Disciples) Church for fifty-two years and the First Baptist Church in Bedford the remainder of her life.

Family was Marie's entire life. She kept a detailed scrapbook of family and other people and events taking place in Taylor County. She traveled extensively and had been in all but two states. She especially enjoyed traveling to the Holy land twice. She was a hard worker who loved the lifestyle of the family farm. Whether she was working in her garden or canning applesauce, she loved it all. After moving to town, she kept active in church activities and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the 19th Century Club.

Left to cherish Marie's memory are three children, Harold Park and wife June of Bedford; Norma Hensley of Ames; and Mary Ellen Norton of Clarinda; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Tribolet Grandfield of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grand-children; six step-great-grand-children; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Marie in death are her parents, Marion and Nina; her husband Thomas Park, Jr., in 1964; a son, Marvin Edward in 1969; a daughter, Donna Lee in 1939; and four brothers, Earl Stone, Ivan Stone, Virgil Stone and Francis Marion Stone.  Marie was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and caring friend to many.

Final Rites Held for Sp./4 Marvin E. Park

Residents of the Bedford area paid their respects Fri., May 23, to Spec/4 Marvin E. Park, son of Mrs. Thomas Park in the funeral services for this 21-year-old serviceman who died in Vietnam of fatal injuries received in line of duty. In charge of the service at the Bedford Christian Church was Rev. Richard Brown, friend and pastor of the family church, East Side Christian Church of Council Bluffs, and assisted by Rev. John D. Kerr, local Presbyterian Christian Church minister.

Participating in the service were Iowa National Guard C A 1st Bn. 168th Inf. 47 Div, some of Marvin’s friends serving as pallbearers. The National Guard unit and the Bedford American Legion Post No. 164 provided military honors at the interment ceremony at Fairview Cemetery here.

Marvin was scheduled to go on R and R in Hawaii in June for a visit with his wife, the former Barbara Tribolet. He had received training in heavy artillery. When he went to Vietnam in November 1968 he was assigned to C. Battery, First 77th artillery, First Air Cavalry. He served as a cannoneer on a large gun. His last location was at Tay Ninh on Landing Zone Grant where one week before death, May 6, he was assigned section chief.

Marvin Edward Park, youngest child of Thomas Park Jr. and Marie Stone Park, was born September 18, 1947 at Maryville, Mo. and was killed in combat in Vietnam May 12, 1969.

He attended grade and high school in Bedford and high school in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended Bible School at the Christian Church in Bedford.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Tribolet, September 29, 1967 at Council Bluffs. To this union was born one daughter, Dedee Jo.

He was employed in Council Bluffs before entering the service November 6, 1967 from Taylor County, Iowa. He received his basic training at Fort Bliss, Tex. And received advanced training at Fort Sill, Okla., and Fort Lewis, Wash., before being sent to Vietnam in November 1968.

He is survived by his wife and daughter of Council Bluffs, his mother, Mrs. Thomas Park, Jr., Bedford, two sisters, Mrs. Hubert (Norma) Hensley, Ames, Iowa, Mrs. Gene (Mary Ellen) Norton, Bedford; one brother, Harold Park, Bedford; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Nina Stone; nine nieces and nephews, a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and sister Donna Lee Park.

Ruby Alice Park

Ruby Alice (Stephens) Park, daughter of George and Annie Bartley Stephens was born July 1, 1902 in Bedford, Iowa and died December 6, 1996. She married Finis Park, March 25, 1925. To this union, two children were born, Barbara Ann (died in infancy) and Richard. Ruby departed this life at the age of 94 years, five months.  [They] spent their entire life in Taylor County farming. Ruby moved to Bedford upon the death of Finis in 1972.

Ruby took great pride in her grandchildren and her flower garden. She was particularly fond of roses. She was active in the Baptist Church in Bedford, always helping out when needed, was a very loving Sunday school teacher, President of B.W.S., 4-H leader, committee person for Benton township and served on several other committees.

Left to cherish her memory are: Richard (son) and Donna Park of Decatur, Texas; Stephen (grandson), and Julie Park.  Grandchildren Sheryl Russell and Stacy of Paradise, Texas, Randal, (Grandson) and Dainya Park, grandchildren, Brandon, Melinda, Raina arid Logen of Decatur, TX, David (grandson) of and Michelle Park, grandchildren Zane and Zackory: of North Riettland Hills Tx.   

She was a loving mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruby's friends and neighbors knew her as a kind and gracious lady.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 9 at Novinger Taylor Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Jamie Mogler officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery in Bedford.

Mrs. Allen [Ellen] Parsons, aged 73 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jesse Fuller, in Polk Township, Saturday, June 21 [22], 1895. Funeral services were conducted on Monday morning at 9 o’clock a. m., Rev. M. C. Waddell, of this city, officiating. The remains were brought to Bedford and interred in the Fairview cemetery. The deceased was a native of Virginia but in early life moved with her parents to Ohio, and afterward became a resident of Illinois and last fall came to this place since which time, up to her death, made her home with her daughter at whose home she died. Deceased was a member of the M. E. church, living an exemplary Christian life. Eight children, four boys and four girls, live to mourn the loss of a mother.

Jesse D. Rabourn died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lew Wyckoff, Wednesday morning at four o’clock, aged 75 years. Mr. Rabourn has only been making his home here a short time, having come from Oklahoma a few weeks ago. The funeral services will be held from the home Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of all.

Jesse D. Rabourn

Funeral services over the remains of Jesse D. Rabourn, whose death was announced last week, were held at 1:30 o’clock Friday afternoon at the First Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, Dr. J. W. Neyman. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, beside the remains of his wife. Mr. Rabourn was 75 years of age.

Jesse D. Rabourn was born in Indiana March 15, 1837. In 1862 he was united in marriage with Margaret Ann Bair at Roseville, Warren County, Illinois, where they lived until 1883 when they moved to Missouri. To this union were born four sons and two daughters, all of whom are living. Mrs. Rabourn died April 14, 1909. Mr. Rabourn united with the Baptist church when a resident of Illinois.

Mr. Rabourn had been a sufferer from Bright’s disease for about nine months. His home was in Collinsville, Okla., when he became ill, but his condition improved and he came to Iowa to visit his children. He spent three weeks at Hamburg and then came here to the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. E. Wyckoff. About two weeks ago his condition became serious and death came Tuesday of last week.

Obituary

Jesse D. Rabourn departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 1912, at the age of 75 years and 5 days, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. E. Wyckoff in northeast Bedford, Iowa. He had been a sufferer for 9 months with Bright’s disease.

Mr. Rabourn was born in Indiana, March 15th, 1837. In the year 1862 he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Bair at Roseville, Warren County, Ill., where they lived until 1883 when they moved to Missouri. Mrs. Rabourn was called to that Beautiful home April 14, 1909. To this union were born 4 sons and 2 daughters, all of whom are living, besides brothers and sisters and other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Rabourn united with the Baptist church while living in Illinois. His home was in Collinsville, Okla., where he was first taken ill, but he seemed so much better that he came to Iowa to visit his children. He visited at Hamburg three weeks and there he came to L. E. Wyckoffs. He was taken bad again on Wednesday before the end came on the following Tuesday. The funeral was preached at the home Friday at 1:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Neyman of the Baptist church. Interment was in Fairview cemetery where the body was laid to rest beside that of his beloved wife.

Death of Mrs. Rabourn

Mrs. Margaret Rabourn died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. E. Wyckoff in north Bedford on Wednesday, April 14 at 11:15 a. m. o’clock, aged 64 years, two months and nine days.

Margaret Bair was born in Warren County, Illinois, February 5, 1845, and was united in marriage to Jesse D. Rabourn, March 15, 1862. To this union was born the following named children who survive her;

George Rabourn who resides at Hamburg, William of Arcadia, Nebraska, David of Ochatata, Oklahoma, Henry of Beatrice, Nebraska; Mrs. Carrie A. Churchill of Hopkins, Missouri and Mrs. Elsina Wycoff [Wyckoff] of Bedford. She is also survived by one sister and two brothers.

In 1880 deceased moved to Nodaway County, Missouri, where she remained until seven years ago when she came to Bedford and has since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. L. E. Wycoff.

In early girlhood deceased united with the Baptist church and remained a consistent, loyal member to the end.

Over two months ago Mrs. Rabourn was taken ill and during the long weeks intervening between the time when she was taken down and her death she was a constant sufferer.

The funeral will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 1:30 p. m. at the L. E. Wyckoff home in north Bedford conducted by Revs. McMasters and Hendrickson. Interment at Fairview.

Mrs. Margaret Raborn was born February 5, 1845 in Warren county, Ill. and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. E. Wyckoff, in Bedford, Wednesday, April 14, 1909, aged 64 years, 2 months and 2 days.
March 15, 1862 she was united in marriage to Jesse D. Raborn and in 1880 moved to Nodaway county, Missouri. For the past seven years she has made her home with her daughter in Bedford. While living in Illinois she united with the Baptist church and has always lived a consistent Christian life. She has been suffering from the illness which terminated in her demise for two months and through it all has displayed Christian fortitude and cheerfulness.
She leaves six children to mourn her death. They are George, of Hamburg, Iowa; William, of Arcadia, Neb.; David, of Ochalata, Okl.; Henry, of Beatrice, Neb.; Carrie V. Churchill of Hopkins, Mo.; Elsina Wyckoff of Bedford. She also leaves one sister ad two brothers.
The funeral will be held at the home of L. E. Wyckoff in Bedford, Friday, April 16, conducted by Rev. D. McMasters, assisted by Elder G. A. Hendrickson. The interment will be in Fairview.
The sympathy of all is extended to the bereaved relatives.

A Sudden Death

Mrs. Geo. Raborn [Rabourn] died very suddenly at her home in Wyoming, on Monday, October 1st. The body arrived here on the 3:40 express Saturday afternoon, and was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Raborn [Rabourn] who live down near the Missouri line. The remains were interred in the Luteston cemetery last Sunday.

About two weeks ago Mr. and Mrs. Raborn went to Wyoming for the purpose of taking up a homestead. While the husband was at the land office filing on a claim his wife became suddenly ill with a heart trouble, and died in less than one hour. Mrs. Raborn leaves a husband and a little daughter. Stephen Mitchell, Mrs. Rayborn’s father, was with her when she died and with the husband and daughter accompanied the remains to Missouri.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in this city at 2 p. m. Wednesday, January 2d, conducted by rev. J. c. Lewis, assisted by Elder Wm. Cobb. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.

The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morgason of Ross Township, and her married life, though brief, was a happy one. The young husband has the heartfelt sympathy of the community.

Last Rites Held October 7 For Georgia Ross

Funeral services for Mrs. James F. (Georgia) Ross, 68, long time Taylor County resident, were held October 7 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford conducted by Carl Cummings. Mrs. Ross died October 3, 1868 at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

Georgia Ruth Rainey Ross, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Caster Rainey, was born in Gentry County, Missouri, January 18, 1900.

On March 29, 1919 she was united in marriage to James F. [inley] Ross and they moved to a farm near Lenox, later to a farm near Bedford and to Page County, Iowa where they resided four years, and then to the farm east of Bedford in 1939 where she has continued to reside.

Born to bless this home was one son, Harold B. Ross.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who passed away June 15, 1966 and a sister who died in infancy.

Left to cherish memories of her good life are her son Harold and his wife June of Bedford; two granddaughters, Lyndel ross [?] & her husband, Gerald, of Wichita, Kansas; and Candy Jo ross of Bedford; one grandson, Richard Alan Ross, of Anaheim, Calif.; one great grand [rest of paragraph unreadable].

James F. Ross, 69, Rites Held Here June 17

Funeral services for James Finley Ross, 69, long-time Taylor County resident, were held June 17 at the Shum-Novinger Funeral Home on State street with Rev. J. Milton Kinney officiating. Mr. Ross died June 15, 1966 in the Clarinda Municipal Hospital. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

James Finley Ross, son of James F. and [Sarah] Amanda Hiss [Hise] Ross was born November 4, 1896 on the old Ross homestead in Gentry County, Mo.

He was united in marriage with Georgia Ruth Rainey on March 29, 1919 and to this union was born one son, Harold B. [erdene] Ross, now farming with his father near Bedford.

Mr. Ross spent his entire life farming. Moving to Taylor County in 1919 and with the exception of four years in Page County, Iowa, he spent his days farming in Taylor County. He moved to his present farm home in 1939.

He joined the Bedford Methodist Church in 1952. In addition to the church, he belonged to the Bedford Lodge No. 91, Odd Fellows. He served as Post Noble Grand in the local lodge, and was Post District Deputy President.

Mr. Ross added a bit of laughter to life, encouraged friends, and loved his family. He was handicapped during his later years of life. He had a severe heart condition, which, with complications, caused his death.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one brother, Lloyd Ross, two sisters, Zelma Ross and Verna Martin.

He is survived by his wife; son; daughter-in-law, Wanda June; three grandchildren, Lyndel, Richard, and Candy Jo Ross; four sisters, Mrs. Bell Weichert of Lenox, Barbara Ross of Stanberry, Mo.; Mildred Severs of Albany, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Hern of Auburn, Nebr.

Mr. Ross loved his friends and always had time for a friendly visit or lend a helping hand, whether toiling on a farm or in sickness or death. Nature was his life staff and everything that grew was a part of him. He loved the beauty of the earth and all of its blessings.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

WANDA ROSS

Wanda June Ross, 85, formerly of Bedford, IA, passed away in Denver Colorado. June was the oldest of five children born to Tina Marie and William (Bill) Wilcox.

June was born in Page County and raised in New Market, Iowa. In 1943 June married Harold B. (Sonny Ross) and to this union three children were born, Lyndel, Richard (Bud), and Candy.

Most of her married life was spent on a farm near Bedford. She was a member of the Lionesses Club and other Community and Craft Clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, siblings, Virginia Bingham, Robert (Bob) Wilcox, Norma Peterman and Sondra Thompson.

She is survived by her three children; Lyndel (Bill) Struck of Denver, CO; Richard (Bud) and (Tana) Ross of Bedford, IA; Candy Jones of Denver, CO, seven grandchildren: Terry (Becky) Barr, Jason Barr, Carrie (Bryan) Spencer, Jamie (Abduellah) Tayadirt; Jennifer Jones, Sammi Jones, Bill (Somer) Ross. Seven great grandchildren: Michael Barr, Mason Barr, Jessi Wilson, Emily Wilson, Ross Spencer, Josie Spencer, Maizie Ross.

June will be buried at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Iowa.

LeRoy L. Newman

Funeral services for LeRoy L. Newman, 66, of Clarinda will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home.

Mr. Newman died early Monday morning, Dec. 11, 1989, at his home in Clarinda.

He was born Feb. 12, 1923, near Essex, the son of Luther and Ella Tillman Newman. Mr. Newman had farmed and worked on construction. He retired from Weber Engineering where he was a dragline operator.

Mr. Newman was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines.

On Dec. 10, 1949, he was married to Dorlee Ranbarger who survives. Besides his wife of the home, he is survived by three children, Gary Newman, Red Oak, Mrs. Craig (Trudy) Riggs, Lewisville, Ne, and Colleen Smith of Omaha. There are three grandchildren. Mrs. Bob (Arlene) Schaeffer of Riverton and Marvel Johnson of Glendale, Ca, are sisters.

He was preceded in death by parents and one brother.

Burial will  be in  Fairview Cemetery at Bedford.

Gene Norton services held Nov. 4

Services for Gene Norton, 57, were held   Monday, Nov.   5, at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford.   Burial   was at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Mr. Norton died Nov. 2, 1984 at St. Joseph Hospital, St. Joseph, Mo.

Gene Norton, son of George and Earlis Roberts Norton was born at Bedford, Iowa November 2, 1927. He lived in Taylor County and grew to maturity there where he attended the West Gray Elementary and Bedford High School where he graduated in 1945.

On December 7, 1952 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Park at Bedford, Iowa and they lived near Conway and later Gravity/New Market.

To this union two children were born: Dennis and Denise. Following high school graduation he was employed in Des Moines prior to entering the U.S. Navy.

He was engaged in farming until ill health forced him to limit his involvement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dean.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ellen, daughter Denise, son Dennis and his wife Kathy, grandchildren Meagan and Derek, mother-in-law, Marie Park, sister-in-law, Agatha Norton, nephews Mark and Jason, sister-in-law Norma Hensley and family, brother-in-law Harold Park and family.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He appreciated his friends and fellow man,  found satisfaction in tilling the soil, and lending a helping hand to all.

GENE NORTON

Gene Norton, son of George and Earlis Roberts Norton, was born at Bedford, Iowa November 2, 1927 and departed this life November 2, 1984, Saint Joseph Hospital, St. Joseph, Missouri at the age of 57 years.

He lived in Taylor County and grew to maturity there; he attended West Gay elementary and Bedford High school where he graduated with the class of 1945.

On December 7, 1952 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Park at Bedford, Iowa. They lived on a farm near Conway nine years, moving to rural Bedford in 1962 and their present home in New Market in November, 1982.

To this union two children were born, Dennis and Denise. Following high school graduation Gene was employed in Des Moines prior to enlisting in the US Navy. Following his discharge he was engaged in farming until ill health forced him to limit his involvement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dean. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Ellen, Denise, Dennis and wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Meagan and Derek Norton; mother-in-law, Marie Park, sister-in-law, Agatha Norton, nephews, Mark and Jason Norton; sister-in-law, Norma Hensley and children Jeffery, Jennifer, Julie, Jack and families, brother-in-law, Harold Park and family.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He served in the United States Navy January 1946 through November 1947.

He appreciated his friends and fellowman, found satisfaction in tilling the soil and lending a helping hand to all. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Pauline Rogers, age 83 of Bedford, who died Friday, August 24, 2001 were held Monday, August 27, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford with Pastor Randy Allman officiating. Interment was held in the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Memorials can be given in Pauline's name for macular degeneration research or to the Eiler House in Clarinda.

Pauline Rogers was born February 1, 1918 in Bedford, Iowa the daughter of Edgar Howe Mitchell and Harriett Redman Mitchell. She grew up in the Bedford area attending school in Bedford and the Hoover School in Jackson Township. In January of 1946 she was united in marriage to Troy Rogers at the Christian Church Parsonage in Bedford. The couple farmed all of their married life on farms in Ross Township, except for three years spent in Clayton Township. Pauline and Troy moved to Bedford in 1980. Troy passed away in 1996. In 1998 Pauline moved to the Eiler House Assisted Living Center in Clarinda.

Pauline was a true farmer's wife, always willing to do her share of the chores around the farm. She enjoyed working, with animals whether it was a farm animal or a sick dog or cat, she always had time and a soft spot for them. She spent time crocheting and cooking and will be especially remembered for her date cake. Pauline was an immaculate housekeeper; every-thing was always in its place. Even though the couple had no children of their own, she was very close to her nieces and nephews and loved them dearly. Pauline was a member of the Bedford Christian Church and the Banner Goodwill Club.

Pauline is survived by a sister, Edna Boyer and husband Joe of Bedford; four nieces, Linda Covington and husband Rex of Shambaugh; Sharon Cahill and husband Bruce of Clarinda; Jeanne Crawford and husband Dennis of New Market; Mary Lou Bowman and husband Jack of Bedford; four nephews, Harold Hatfield of St. Tomas, Virgin Islands; Larry Hatfield of San Rafael, California; Ken Hatfield and wife Coleen of Creston; and Dick Hatfield and wife Cheryl of Knoxville; a brother-in-law, Delbert Rogers and wife Helen of Bedford and many great nieces and great nephews.

Unexpected Death of Mrs. Nugent

That Lady Passes Quietly Away After a Few Short Days of Suffering. ---Buried in the Lenox Cemetery.

At 8:15 p.m. on Saturday evening, March 2, occurred the death of Mrs. John Nugent at the family residence two miles north of Conway. Her sickness was of short duration, being sick only a week. The cause of her death was grip-pneumonia. Nothing serious was anticipated until the last couple of days, when it was seen that it was almost impossible to save her life.

Mrs. Nugent’s maiden name was Margaret Lonergan. She was born in Tipperary County, Ireland, on the 29th of December 1851, being at the time of her death 50 years, two months and two days old.

Margaret Lonergan, when still a tender girl, came to this country with her mother, Mrs. John Lonergan, who took up her residence with her sister, Mrs. Alice Quigley, in Manhattan, Illinois.

On the 13th of February 1878, she was united in marriage to John Nugent, by Father McShane, at St. Rose’s Church, Wilmington, Illinois. Soon after that the young couple came west, hopeful for the future, and located two miles north of here, where since they have made their home.

The funeral took place Tuesday morning, leaving the family residence at 8 a. m. The services were held at St. Patrick’s church, Lenox, Iowa, with interment in the Catholic cemetery. A solemn requiem high mass was celebrated for the repose of the soul by the pastor, Father John Noonan, assisted by Rev. Bede Durham, of Creston, Iowa, and Rev. Sheridan, of Corning. The benediction and the last rites of the church were pronounced over the remains by Rev. Noonan.

The funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. Bede Durham. In his sermon, the good father spoke words of comfort and consolation to the grief stricken husband and children, while at the same time his appropriate remarks were very much appreciated by all. ---Conway Journal

Charles Curtis Owens

Charles Curtis Evans Owens was born in DeQueen, Sevier County, Arkansas, on June 1, 1921. He passed away on October 11, 1997 at Heartland East Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 76 years.

After the untimely demise of his parents when Charles was a child, he was taken to the Arkansas Children's Home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Charles was adopted by Blake Gilmore Owens and his wife Charity Catherine Owens in 1929. He was raised as an important part of the family on the Owens farm in Center Ridge, Arkansas.

Charles attended Nemo Vista School and High School in Center Ridge. Then in 1939 he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and went to Bedford, Iowa where he and his colleagues built the Bibbins City Park along with various buildings at the Lake of Three Fires.

While in Bedford, Charles met Helen E.   [liza] Cross.      They were married on March 10, 1942, fifty-five years ago this past March. A son, J. [ames] Craig Owens, was born to their union. He lives with his family, wife Candace and son Andrew, in Davidson, North Carolina.

Survivors in addition to his wife, son, and grandson include two brothers, Jim Byars of Satelite Beach, Florida and the Rev. Fred Cloud of Nashville, Tennessee.

Funeral services were conducted on October 14, 1997 by the Rev. Fred Cloud at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford, Iowa.

HELEN OWENS

Helen Eliza Cross Owens, daughter of Thomas J. [ohn] Cross and Mable Horton Cross was born April 29, 1919 near Gravity, Iowa in Taylor County. Helen grew up attending grade school and graduating from High School in 1938 at Bedford, Iowa. In her class there were five other girls by the name of Helen.  

From 1949 to 1957, Helen worked for Galey's Grocery, later leaving to work for Bedford Wholesale Grocery from 1957 to 1980, until the owners Bill and Richard Cross sold out. Helen worked for 38 years in the grocery business. She was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church more than 50 years.

Charles Curtis Owens and Helen Eliza Cross were united in marriage March 7, 1942. One son, James Craig, was born on March 2, 1945 in Bedford, Iowa, Taylor County.

Helen is survived by one grandson, Andrew J. Owens, and daughter-in-law, Candace Raymond Owens of Davidson, NC; brothers Thomas (raised by an aunt and uncle in Chicago, IL), of Texas; Bill and wife Darlene Cross; Fred Cross; Bryan and wife Deloris Cross, all of Bedford, Iowa; sisters Alice Flint, Fort Shaw, MT; Bette Squires of Cresco, IA; Judy Lucas of Bryn Mawr, PA; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She passed away April 17, 2008 at Villisca Good Samaritan Center, Villisca, IA. Preceding Helen in death were her parents, husband, son, two sisters and brothers-in-law Peggy and Stewart Allen, Maryville, MO, Francis and Richard Farr, North Kansas City. MO, Vane Basil Lucas, Bryn Mawr, PA, and Ed Squires of Cresco, IA; Charles Flint, Fort Shaw, MT; brother Clifford, Bedford, IA; nieces Caye Cross Keith, Sioux City, IA; Julia Flint, Fort Shaw, MT; nephews Steph Squires and Vince Squires, Cresco, IA; and Mitchel Shawn Lucas, Bedford, IA.

RUTH ANNETTE RIGGLEMAN

Ruth Annette Riggleman, daughter of Ruth and Horrell B. (Doc) Warehorn [Wareham] was born at Ottumwa, Iowa May 1, 1926 and departed this life October 12, 1993 in Denison, Iowa at the age of 67.

She lived in Ottumwa and grew to maturity in Denison where she attended the public school and United Methodist Church.

On December 19, 1945 she was united in marriage to Vincent Earl Riggleman of Denison and they lived on the Riggleman farm until 1953. To this union two children were born, Leah Nan and Jeffrey Scott.

While residing in Crawford County, she was employed at the Denison Telephone Company. She and Vince worked at Ahrens Drug in Bedford until it closed in 1971. After that she was employed by the Bedford Telephone Company and also at Turner's Department Store, formerly known as Thompson's. She was a talented seamstress and knitted beautifully.

When Vince developed health problems, she stayed at home to care for him.

She kept a sense of humor and was full of life and vigor. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and you would often find her sitting at the table by the window working on puzzles. Annette enjoyed listening to records, watching westerns on TV, naming actors and actresses, reminiscing their family vacations at Lake Okoboji as well as the western states, talking about history, and reading Civil War books. Later she volunteered to help enter all the card files at the Bedford Public Library into a computer for the Southwest Iowa composite files. Annette donated many of their books to the library also.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Ruth Warehorn [Wareham], her children, Jeff and Leah, her grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Dustin, Isha and Shira.

She was a Rainbow girl and a member of the United Methodist Church.

She was a kind and considerate mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, 1993 at Novinger-Taylor Funeral Home in Bedford with Merrill Lischer and Darrell Christensen officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Iowa.

Vincent Earl Riggleman, son of L. Earl Riggleman and Margaret Eebischer was born at Deloit, Iowa on September 23, 1924. He lived in Crawford County, Iowa, attending high school in Denison, Ia. and joined the United Methodist Church there.

On December 19, 1945 he was united in marriage to Annette Wareham in Iowa City. They moved to Deloit, Iowa and in 1953 moved to Bedford where he was employed at Ahrens Drug Co. and then went into the Postal Service and retired in November 23, 1982.

To this union were born two children, Jeffrey Scott and Leah Nan. He was preceded in death by his father, L. Earl Riggleman.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bedford and served in the U. S. Army Air Force as a 1st Lt. and pilot—European theater World War II.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Annette, Jeffrey and his wife, Karen of Dameron, Maryland and Leah and her husband David Hull of San Diego, Ca.; mother, Mrs. Margaret Riggleman of Denison; brother, Frederick and wife Anne of Upland, Ca.; five grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Flossie Ruckman Final Rites Were Held Here Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Talbert J. (Flossie Ely) Ruckman, 68, of Streator, Ill., a former Bedford resident, were held June 11 in Winterrowd Funeral Home in Streator, Ill., conducted by Rev. Earl Barr. Bedford Chapter # 228 presented fraternal honors June 13 in Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Carl Cummings officiating the service. Mrs. Ruckman died in Saint Mary's Hospital in Streator, Ill. June 9, 1983. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Iowa. Flossie Ely, daughter of Lester Ely and Della Johnson Ely, was born near Centerville in Appanoose County, Iowa March 1, 1915.

With the exception of a few years lived in Wyoming, she grew to maturity in the area where she was born. She attended the Centerville Public School and the Baptist Church. In 1940 she was united in marriage to Carroll Little and they lived in Clearfield, Iowa, Burlington, Iowa and Bedford, Iowa where he was employed as a police officer. Carroll died in 1969. She was employed by the Central Telephone Company and served as dispatcher for the Taylor County Sheriff Department.

She was a member of Bedford Chapter #228, Order of Eastern Star.

On September 10, 1970 she was united in marriage to Talbert J. Ruckman of Streator, Illinois where they made their home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carroll Little, and a sister, Eva Doop.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Talbert J. Ruckman of the home; two sisters: Ices Atkins and Lucy Kristoff, both of Topeka, Kansas; two stepdaughters: Betty Mescher and Rose Melvin and a stepson Talbert J. Ruckman Jr. of the Streator, Ill. area; 11 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Helen Cora Neve was born September 1, 1913 near Walker, Missouri the daughter of Claude Clark and May Denny Clark. Helen graduated from the Kellerton High School in 1931. In 1939 she graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Maryville, Missouri and taught Kindergarten in Peru and Avoca. On November 23, 1941 she was united in marriage to Herbert Jack Neve; together they would share over 35 years of marriage. Herbert was a boilermaker, so after their marriage they traveled to jobs around the Midwest, settling in Bedford in 1951. Early in their marriage Helen and Herbert would take fishing trips to Leach Lake, Minnesota. She also enjoyed attending the World's Fair in Seattle and traveling to the West Coast several times. She was a member of D.A.R., various women's clubs, the Fortnightly Club and was the activity director for nursing homes beginning in 1971 in Clarinda, Atlantic and Bayard. She also enjoyed her work for funeral homes in West Des Moines and Creston, retiring in 1977. Over the years Helen gave many book reviews at various clubs and schools. Helen loved to be around people and enjoyed playing the piano, organ and painting. She also loved pets.

She is survived by her son, Steve and wife Debbie, and their son Bill of Creston.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Claude and May; her husband Herbert and a grandson, Jack.

Herb Neve, 77, of Bedford, died Saturday morning at Creston.

Services are to be conducted at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Larkin family funeral home in Creston with burial at the Bedford cemetery.

Neve was born June 12, 1898 [1899], at Avoca, the son of Claus and Adley Timm Neve. He attended schools at Avoca and was a construction engineer until his retirement in 1963.

He was a member of the Boilermakers Local 83 of Kansas City, and would have received his 50-year Masonic pin next month.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Creston, who formerly was a social worker at West Heights here; a brother Henry of Council Bluffs; and a sister Claudena Krieger of Avoca: He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Herb J. [ack] Neve was born June 12, 1899 in Avoca, Iowa, son of Claus and Addle [Adley] Timm Neve.

His survivors include his wife, Helen of Creston; one son, Steve, Prescott, Ia.; one brother, Henry, Council Bluffs, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Claudena Krieger, Avoca; a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Neve was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

He attended schools in the Avoca area. Mr. Neve spent his lifetime as a boilermaker and construction engineer; he retired in 1963.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Avoca and Boiler Makers Local No. 83, Kansas City.

George I. Putnam Rites Held Sept. 28

In the death of George I. [srael] Putnam, Thursday, September 26, the Bedford community lost a useful and highly esteemed citizen, a resident of Taylor County all his life of seventy-four and a half years.

He was born on a farm northwest of Bedford where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sidney S. [Clay] Putnam had settled in the early 1870s, on March 20, 1883.  He attended the Dunning district school and the Gilead Methodist church with which he united in his early youth.

During his high school days in Bedford he met Miss Vera V. Bradley who became his wife September 26, 1906.

After 24 years on the family farm and in another property located on the Gravity road north of Bedford, they moved to their present home in Bedford in 1930.

Following their marriage Mr. Putnam transferred his church membership to the First Christian church in Bedford where for the past 51 years he, along with his devoted wife, served with ever-growing influence. In recognition of such unfailing service he was successively elected by the congregation to their most responsible positions of leadership, Trustee, Deacon and Elder, offices which he filled with dignity and genuine devotion. In church, along the street, in the high school where he was employed for a time, he was a favorite of the children. In the home he was an ideal husband and host.

In the immediate family, besides his wife, Mr. Putnam is survived by one brother, Edwin Putnam of north of town. Two sisters, Mrs. John Nethers and Mrs. Charles Bailey, have preceded him in death.

The funeral and memorial services were held Saturday, September 28 at 2 o’clock at the Wetmore Funeral Home, with Dr. Irving Putnam of Minneapolis, Minn., officiating. Mr. Putnam is a first cousin of the deceased. Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Services were held here September 14 for Vera Putnam, 98, at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home, with Rev. Marcia Smith-Wood officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford. Mrs. Putnam died September 11, 1984 at a rest home in Coon Rapids.

Vera Putnam, daughter of Emma Bradley and Addison Bradley, was born at Siam, Iowa on November 7, 1885. She lived in Siam and grew to maturity there and attended the public school and the Christian Church.

On September 26, 1906, she was united in marriage to George Putnam at Siam and they lived on a farm northwest of Bedford. Vera assisted her husband in farming and was a beautician.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are nieces, Mrs. Doris Monchinski and Mrs. Don (Jean) Jackson, nephews Bud Bradley, Bob Catuska and Harry Putnam, sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernie (Marnie) Bradley, cousins Prentice Putnam and Treva Putnam and a host of friends.

She was a member of the United Christian-Presbyterian Church of Bedford.

Vera was a kind and considerate wife, friend and aunt and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Geoffrey Penton, 84 Last Rites Held In Bedford Mar 12

Funeral services for Horace Geoffrey Penton, 84, of Bedford, were held March 12 in Shum-Novinger Funeral Home herewith Rev. Carl Cummings officiating. Mr. Penton died March 10, 1980 in Saint Joseph Hospital in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

Horace Geoffrey Penton, son of Albert Penton and Margaret Hayes Penton, was born west of New Market, in Page County, Iowa, August 22, 1895.

He lived in the area where he was born until he was 10 years old when he moved with his family to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he grew to maturity and attended the public school and the Methodist Church.

On December 21, 1914, he was united in marriage to Louise Barwick at Lincoln, Nebraska, and they lived on farms in eastern Nebraska until 1937 when they moved from near Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to a farm northwest of Bedford, Iowa. Upon retirement in 1960 they moved to Bedford where they have since resided.

To this union eight children were born: Donald, Nadine, Robert, Joseph, Sara Marie, Margaret Elizabeth (Betty), Eunice and June.

For the past 20 years he has been helpful to many people in caring for their lawns, during the summer season, and their sidewalks during the winter months, as well as many handy man jobs around their homes. He possessed an ability to make beautiful tables and walking canes and his fancywork has received first prize rating many times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Robert who died at age 14 years; and one brother Marcus Penton.

LOUISE AGNES PENTON

Services were held for Louise Agnes Penton 92, Bedford. Mrs. Penton died March 10, 1989 at her home in Bedford.

Louise Agnes Penton, daughter of Webb Barwick and Jane Ann Hope was born at Lincoln, Neb. January 27, 1897, and departed this life March 10, 1989, in her home at Bedford, Iowa, at the age of 92 years, one month and 11 days.

She spent her school days in Brooks, Corning, and Omaha, Neb., graduating from high school in Lincoln, Neb. On December 21, 1914 she was united in marriage to Horace Geoffrey Penton at Lincoln, Neb. and they lived and farmed in Cedar Creek, Neb. until they moved west of Bedford, Iowa, in 1937. She and Horace retired from farming in 1960, moving to town that same year. Besides farming, Louise did housework in Bedford and assisted Dr. Rimel for a while.

Louise was the mother of eight children: Donald Ariel, Nadine Louise Youngs, Robert Geoffrey, Joseph Sidney, Sara Marie Hallowell, Margaret Elizabeth Journey, Eunice Kathryn Neumeyer, and June Leighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sons Donald and Robert.

Left to cherish her memory are 48 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 22 great great grandchildren.

Louise was a member of the United Methodist Church and gave a lot of her time and leadership to local 4-H groups.

She was a compassionate, sensitive woman, who touched her children and friends with her smile, her sense of humor and her genuine concern. She will be missed.

Mrs. Georgia Joy Roberts, 61, whose home had been at Truro until coming Aug 10 to Clarinda to live at the West Heights Manor, died here Saturday. Her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy McCoy is on the nursing staff of the Manor, and son is Warren McLeod at Bedford.

Services were held at the Truro Christian Church and burial at Fairview Cemetery at Bedford. The Rev. Ivo Randels and Rev. Richard Hempenius officiated.

Georgia Roberts Rites Oct. 23

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert (Georgia) Roberts, 61, of Clarinda, held October 23 at Truro, Iowa, Christian Church with interment at Fairview Cemetery in Bedford were conducted by Rev. Richard Hempenius and Mr. Ivo Randels. Mrs. Roberts died October 19 at West Heights Manor, Clarinda, where she had been a resident since August 30.

Georgia Joy Terhune was born at Iantha, Missouri April 18, 1907 to Jacob Stephen and Rosa Ann [Schmalhorst] Terhune. She attended school in southern Missouri.

She was united in marriage to Robert J. Roberts Dec. 17, 1927 [? Grinnell, Ia.

She was the mother of two children of a previous marriage, Warren R. McLeod of Bedford and an infant who was stillborn.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband, Jay Roberts of Truro, Ia. and her son Warren of Bedford and his wife Dorothy; three grandsons, Randy Russell and Terry McLeod; one step granddaughter, Linda Whitten and her husband Jack; one great granddaughter, Jeannette Whitten of the Bedford community; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Talbot of Liberal, Mo.; a twin brother, George J [oyce] Terhune of Palo Alto, Calif.

Preceding her in death were her father and mother; two brothers, two sisters and a grandson, Richard McLeod of Bedford who died in a car accident in Nov. 1966.

She was a woman with a living vital faith in her god and was a member of the church.

She belonged to that long line of mothers which stretches across timeless centuries who live to give of themselves to their loved ones.

Graveside Services Held in Bedford for Robert J. Roberts

Funeral services for Robert J. [ay] Roberts of Truro were held at Fairview Cemetery here Tuesday, following services in Truro earlier on Tuesday. Mr. Roberts died Sunday, Oct. 27, in Truro.

Mr. Roberts’ wife died October 19.

Included among the survivors a stepson, Warren McLeod of Bedford and his family.

Arthur Montgomery Park

Arthur Montgomery Park, age 92 years, 7 months and 15 days died peacefully Monday evening, February 17, 1997 at Mercy Hospital, Corning, Iowa, with his children by his side. Arthur lived and worked his entire life in the Bedford Community.

Arthur's parents were full-blooded Scotsmen. His mother Mary Montgomery, was born in Scotland. His father, Thomas Park, had a sister born on the water as his parents were coming to America from Scotland. His father's parents settled in Illinois, where Thomas Park and Mary Montgomery married.   They came to Iowa in 1901. 

Arthur was born July 2, 1904 on a farm north of Bedford where he lived until he was 16 with his brothers William, Finis, Thomas and sister, Anna. Then the family bought a 200-acre farm 1 1/2 miles southwest of Bedford. It was then Arthur met a neighbor girl, Ruth Hopson, daughter of John and Tessie Hopson.

Arthur worked as a farm hand after his school days in Bedford. With his earnings he purchased a 1924 Model T, and saved the rest of his money to purchase machinery and stock to start farming.

Arthur Park and Ruth Hopson were married February 16, 1929. Their parents gave them a Jersey cow and a team of mules as a wedding present. They began farming in Polk Township. Three years later they moved to a 160-acre farm in Benton Township. They purchased this farm in 1939 after renting it for seven years.

Arthur and Ruth were active in the community, volunteering as a 4-H leader, and served on rural school and Adult Night School Boards. Arthur also served as Township Trustee, on election boards and was made an honorary F.F.A. member.

Arthur and his to be bride Ruth   were   both   baptized   and. became members the same day in 1927 of the Bedford Christian Church.

After living on their farm for 42 years, Arthur and Ruth sold it to their son and retired to a home in Bedford. Max Park and his son, Jim Park, carry on the family farming tradition at present.

In later years Arthur and Ruth enjoyed   traveling   around   the United States with members of the community on trips sponsored by' the Farm Bureau.

Arthur and Ruth celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1979.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, William (Bill), Finis, Thomas Park, sister Anna Berry and wife Ruth who died in 1994.

He will be sadly missed by a sister in law, Marie Park of Bedford, Iowa; his surviving children, Marilyn Longfellow of Bedford, Max Park and his wife Ardyth of Bedford, grandchildren Teresa Park Harold of Herman, NE and her husband Marvin, Suzie Park Turner of Shawnee, Kansas and her husband Mike, Jim Park of Bedford, Iowa, and his wife Debbie, Kay Longfellow French of Bedford, Iowa and her husband Jerry, great grandchildren Johnny Molloy of Herman, Nebraska, Amber and Amy French of Bedford, and Tessa and Cole Park of Bedford, besides many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were handled by the Novinger Taylor Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 1997 with burial at Fairview Cemetery of Bedford. Pastor Jamie Mogler of First Baptist Church of Bedford officiated.

[PARK, RUTH IRENE HOPSON]

RUTH PARK

Ruth Irene Hopson Park was born on May 19, 1904 near Bedford, Iowa, the daughter of John Wesley and Tessie Ann Hopson. She and her four brothers and four sisters attended Frog Valley Country School.

Ruth graduated from Bedford High School in 1922 with a teaching certificate. She drove her Model T to school nearly seven years teaching in Taylor County.

Ruth married Arthur Park February 16, 1929. Arthur teased Ruth about wearing out her Model T so that after their marriage she had to finish out her school year driving his Model T. The couple began their married life on a farm six miles southwest of Bedford. In 1933 they bought a farm three miles southwest of Bedford where they lived and farmed for the next 40 years. During that time they had a daughter, Marilyn Ann, and a son. Max Arthur.

Ruth had great interest in the activities of her children, serving many years as a 4-H leader, and was also active in neighborhood social groups and served on the local country school board.

She had a great love and appreciation of flowers and gardening and had a knack for making things grow. She was also very creative. Ruth enjoyed crocheting and arts and crafts and loved to teach her grandchildren how to make beautiful things from miscellaneous objects. She was good natured and fun loving and enjoyed playing practical jokes.

Ruth kept a daily diary for many years. The following verse was found in one of her diaries and is exemplary of her positive outlook on life:

"It's the little things we do and say that makes life worthwhile
As we go our way, a friendly greeting and a cheery smile are what   it   takes   to   make    life
worthwhile."

Ruth was baptized in and became a member of the Bedford Christian Church in 1927.

Ruth and Arthur Park would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on February 16, 1994.  

Left to cherish her memory are: her husband of the home, Arthur Park; daughter Marilyn Longfellow and her daughter, Kay French and husband Jerry and their daughters, Amber and Amy; son Max Park and his wife Ardyth and their three children; Teresa Harold and husband Marvin, Teresa's son Johnny Molloy; Suzie Turner and husband Mike; Jim Park and wife Debbie and their children, Tessa and Cole, along with brothers' Humphrey and Frank Hopson; sisters, Flavia Davidson and Lucille Hopson and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carl and Oliver Hopson and sisters Marjorie Hopson and Lydia Webb.

In her last months, Ruth got the most enjoyment from her visiting great grandchildren, who never failed to make her chuckle and smile.

Ruth died Tuesday evening, Jan. 4, 1994 at Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994 at Novinger-Taylor Funeral Home in Bedford with Rev. Lester Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Bedford, Iowa.

Those who knew her will miss Ruth's infectious and characteristic laughter.

Services for Wilhelm Ernst Otto Pittelkow, 68, were held May 4 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Keith Less. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Ia. Mr. Pittelkow died May 1, 1987 at Clarinda, Ia.

Wilhelm Ernst Pittelkow, son of Ernst Pittelkow and Erna Pittelkow was born at Gross Testin, Germany July 19, 1918.

He lived in Gross Testin, Germany and grew to maturity in Gross Testin where he attended the public school and Lutheran Church, Germany.

On October 3, 1942 he was united in marriage to Dora Eldfriede Ida Tomaschke at Stolp-Pommer northeast Germany and they lived at Stolp-Pommer East Germany.

To this union six children were born.

He was engaged in farming.

He was preceded in death by parents, brother Franz and a daughter Marjanna Pittelkow.

Left to cherish his memory are wife Dora Pittelkow, sisters Erika Punzer, Marie Pittelkow, Irma Pittelkow, brothers Hermann Pittelkow, Kurt Pittelkow; sons Wilfred [Wilfried] Otto Pittelkow, Joachim Pittelkow; daughters Hannelore Pittelkow, Ingrid Pittelkow, Adelheid Woods, Betty Louise Pittelkow; granddaughters, Connie Dishon, Anne Marie O’Dell, Lori Ida Woods, Erica Brooke Pittelkow; grandson, David Wilhelm Pittelkow.

He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran church, Bedford, and the German Army.

He was a kind, considerate and loving father and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
