Emmot Foreman Dies At Wes Gilleland Home

Emmott [Emmons H.] Foreman, a pioneer resident of Ross Township, died very suddenly Monday evening of last week, while eating supper at the home of his niece, Mrs. Wes Gilleland. The funeral services were held at the Gilleland home Wednesday morning at 11 'o'clock, conducted by Rev. Leslie Cobb. Interment was made in the Bedford cemetery.

Emmott [Emmons] Foreman was born in Indiana, being a member of a family of six children. Only one, a sister, is now living, she being Mrs. Ambrose Cobb [Matilda Melvina] of Ross Township. Two brothers preceded Mr. Foreman in death in the same manner which caused his demise.

Shortly after attaining young manhood, the deceased came to Taylor County, which has ever since been his home. He possessed a pleasing disposition and a generous heart and was loved and respected by all who came to know him.

Forman, Emmot - Laughed When Death Beckoned
Emmot Forman, a pioneer resident of Ross Township, died very suddenly on Monday evening, little warning being given of impending death. The deceased was eating supper at the home of his niece, Mrs. Wes Gilleland, when a partial stroke of paralysis occurred. Mr. Forman felt a peculiar tingling sensation in his arm and tried to raise the member but found he was powerless to do so. This fact did not frighten him, in fact it rather amused him and he joked with those sitting about the table in regard to it. Later he attempted to arise but found himself powerless in this regard and medical aid was summoned.

Despite the very best attention, the victim rapidly grew worse until death summoned him four hours after the first sign of the attack.—Bedford Republican. PAGE COUNTY DEMOCRAT, Clarinda, Iowa, Nov 30, 1916

The Funeral

From Monday's Daily,

There was a very large attendance at the funeral of Joseph Foreman yesterday. The G. A. R. boys had charge, and it was held at the house. But a small part of the attendants could get into the house. Deceased was a very old resident here and the fact that he had no enemies testifies to exemplary life and good disposition. He was a man of positive convictions though pleasant in his differences and charitable to all who did not agree with him.
