Della
Francis Thompson was born March 12, 1878, near Bedford, Ia., and passed away Dec. 18,
1927, at Longmont, Colo., at the age of 49 years, 9 months, and 6 days.
She
grew to young womanhood near Gilead church. She was converted at the age of thirteen and united with that
church. Later she removed
her membership to the Methodist church at Bedford, in which fellowship
she remained until she joined the Church Triumphant. She was united in marriage to Ralph A. Thompson, Dec. 1, 1915. Together they made their home on a farm
west of Bedford for about eleven years, but about 3 ½ years ago
they were compelled to leave the farm on account of her health. They then moved to Bedford, staying only
a short time. Hoping to
better her health by a change of climate they moved to Colorado where
they remained about 1-½ years. The climate did not result in bettered health and she gave up
the struggle, surrendering to the grim reaper, death. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. [ohn] D.
[ow] Eighmy [Martha Price]
of Bedford, Ia.; Ralph E. Eighmy of Bartlesville, Okla., Bess M. Lewis of Lawrence, Kan.; J. Irwin
Eighmy of Bartlesville, Okla., and Gayol Eighmy of Bedford, Ia. Two
sisters, Mrs. Wm. Parrish and Carrie Eighmy, preceded her in death. She possessed a fine Christian character and her faith in Christ
was the source of comfort and help during her long years of sickness.
Her body, accompanied
by her husband, was returned to Bedford on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and funeral
services were held at the Methodist church Thursday, Dec. 22nd, at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev.
G. T. Roberts. The remains
were laid to rest in Graceland cemetery.

Elder
C. J. Carmichael
We
are called upon this week to chronicle the death of Elder C. [onstant]
J. [oseph] Carmichael,
94 years old, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. John Parks [Rachael Carmichael], in this city, at 10 o'clock last Saturday night after a
lingering illness. Elder
Carmichael is well known over the state of Iowa and the northern part
of Missouri where he has served as minister and spiritual advisor for
over sixty years. He was
of the Baptist faith and was true to his convictions, yet not unreasonable
when working with or coming in contact with those of other beliefs. He was a true Christian man and emulated his belief in his
every day life.
A
large number of friends and relatives from all over the state attended
the funeral services, which were held at Hopkins, Mo., on Monday, Oct.
31st. Elder Young, of Indianola, a ministerial
friend of the deceased, conducted the religious services. Interment was made in the Burch cemetery,
12 miles west of Hopkins, and a large concourse of friends and relatives
followed his remains to their last resting place. Grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. His was a life well spent. A more kind and patient sufferer never
passed through the Pearly Gates and is now with his blessed Saviour
that he has served and loved so long.
Constant
Joseph Carmichael was born Aug. 12, 1833, in Monroe County, Indiana, and died at Bedford,
