Bedford Times-Press Thursday January 16, 1969 p. 2 Final Rites Held In Bedford For Mrs. Edna Marley Funeral services for Mrs. Robert C. (Edna) Marley, 84, long time Taylor County resident, were held January 10 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home here conducted by Mr. Carl Cummings. Mrs. Marley died at her home in Bedford January 7, 1969. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Edna May, the oldest daughter of Delbert and Lucinda [McMurtry] Jared, was born near Bedford, Dec. 31, 1884. On January 15, 1908, she was united in marriage to Robert C. [leveland] Marley and to this union were born two sons, Carl and Wayne, both of Bedford. On January 19, 1958, they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary. She had been a member of the Berea Church of Christ for many years and enjoyed attending services whenever her health permitted. She spent most of her life on the farm, but moved to Bedford after the death of her husband on Feb. 16, 1963. She so enjoyed raising flowers, sewing and the association of friends in her social club and the Church Sewing Group. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons and their wives; five grandchildren: Robert Marley, Lois Coulter, Janet Book, James Marley and Nancy Mount; ten great grandchildren: Richard and Steven Marley, Michael and Timothy Coulter, Jo Ellen and Doyle Book, Daniel and Philip Marley and Wendy and Heidi Mount; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Wolfe, of Ord, Nebr.; four nieces and one nephew, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Stella Marley of Bedford; and other relatives. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Mrs. Morris Best and Bill of Pattonsburg, Mo.; William McMahill of Osborn, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cox of New Market; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson of Conway; Mr. and Mrs. James Keith [Dorothy Thompson] of Clarinda, and Mr. Mike Bourne of Maryville, Mo. Bedford Times-Press Thursday August 6, 1953 Obituary: David Van Camp David Baker Van Camp, son of John C. [hester] and Mary Baker Van Camp, was born near Bedford, Iowa, Feb. 4, 1870, and died July 29, at the age of 83 years, five months, 25 days. He spent the first 21 years of his life in and near the parental home and then went to South Dakota. June 30, 1892, he was married to Miss Abigail Ashton at Laverne, S. Dak., and they made their home there six years. With his family he moved to Taylor County, near Bedford. Later, he spent two years in Alberta, Canada, coming back to Taylor County to spend the remainder of his life. Early in life he united with the Hazel Dell Baptist church and later was baptized in the Church of Christ, where he remained a member until his death. His wife preceded him in death, March 30, 1947, after nearly 55 years in their home together. He was the last of a family of 10 children. He is survived by five children: [John] Elroy Van Camp, San Bernardino, Calif.; Mrs. Esther John, Adel, Ia.; Mrs. Verta Loucks, Winslow, Ariz.; Mrs. Vera Warneke, Glenn Van Camp, Bedford. Also by ten grandsons and one granddaughter, Maurice and Harold Van Camp; Kenneth, Howard and Ivan John; Duane and Robert Warneke; Ilene Warneke Cotter; Lois, David and Richard Loucks. There are six great grandsons and seven great granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted from the Shum Funeral Home Friday, July 31, by Ralph C. Yadon of Blockton. Burial in Fairview cemetery. Bedford Times-Press Thursday August 6, 1953 Obituary: Mrs. May Robb May [Harris] Robb was born in Union Grove, Gentry County, Mo., Feb. 17, 1872, and died in Bedford, Wednesday, July 29, 1953, at the age of 81 years, five months, 12 days. While she was young her parents moved to Gravity, Iowa, where she lived until she was married to W. [illiam] J. Robb in 1891. They lived in Bedford and later moved to Clarinda, then to Clearmont, Mo. In 1904 they moved to Sheridan, Mo., where she lived until recently. To them were born two sons and three daughters. Mrs. Robb was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 6, 1933; two sons, Wilbur in infancy and Clyde W. on June 1, 1952; one daughter, Mrs. Ocie Walters, Dec. 19, 1948. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Lula Cooper of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Mary [Etta] Dowis of Sheridan, Mo.; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Mrs. Robb was a member of the Sheridan Christian church. Funeral services were conducted at the Sheridan Christian church Saturday morning at 10:00, Aug. 1, 1953. Rev. Benj. H. Hollis of the Bedford Christian church was the officiating minister. |
