Bedford Times-Press Thursday July 22, 1965 p. 5 Mrs. Cornelison Rites July 16 Funeral
services for Mrs. Guy (Julia) Cornelison, 79, were held July 16 at the First Christian Church in Maryville with
Rev. Thomas B. Peake officiating.
Mrs. Cornelison died July 13 at St. Francis Hospital, Maryville. Interment was at Miriam Cemetery, Maryville. She
was born April 12, 1886, at Diagonal, Ia., the daughter of Casper
and Rachel Miller Denhart. She
married Guy W. Cornelison,
Dec. 28, 1910 at Diagonal; they were residents of Ringgold County for
a number of years. The
Cornelisons moved to Maryville March 1, 1933, where she was a member
of the First Christian Church. Survivors
include her husband, Guy; one
son, Dan Cornelison,
Maryville; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford Taylor, Diagonal, Ia.; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Cornelison
and Mrs. Lora Buck, both of Des Moines, Ia.; one brother, John F.
Denhart, Mt. Ayr, Ia.;
eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Bedford Times-Press Thursday July 22, 1965 p. 5 Cora Mankle Rites July 17 Funeral
services for Mrs. Cora Armilda Mankle, 93, lifetime New Market resident, were held July 17 at the Walker
Funeral Home in Clarinda. Mrs.
Mankle died in Clarinda, July 14.
Interment was at the Dallas Center Cemetery. Cora
Armilda Mankle was born
in New Market, the daughter of Alexander Duncan, a Civil War veteran, and Mary [Jane] Dillon Duncan. They
were one of the first families to settle in the New Market area.
Her husband, John D. [avid] Mankle,
preceded her in death in [March 16] 1944. Mrs.
Mankle, a member of the New Market Methodist Church, was active in the
WSCS Builders and Fifty-fifty Club.
She had also been a schoolteacher some years ago. She
is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John [Milford]
Mankle [Vinnie Mayall]
of Clarinda, and two grandchildren, Richard Mankle and Mrs. Joleen Moore. Bedford Times-Press Thursday February 15, 1968 p. 6 Final Rites Held
In Bedford For Elvin Griffith Funeral
services for Elvin Harold Griffith,
71, of Gravity, were held Tues., Jan. 23 at the east Shum-Novinger Funeral
Home conducted by Rev. J. Milton Kinney.
Mr. Griffith died January 20 at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital. Bedford American Legion Post No. 164 officiated
in military honors with interment at Lexington Cemetery north of Bedford. Elvin
Harold Griffith, son of
the late William D. and Lulu Widner Griffith,
was born near Conway, Taylor County, Iowa, September 10, 1896. Elvin
graduated from Conway High School in 1914 and was a veteran of World
War I, having served overseas in France several months. On
November 23, 1921, he was united in marriage to Miss Gladys Gillette at Riverton, Iowa, and to this union were born two
daughters, Dorothy
and Doris. Mr.
and Mrs. Griffith spent all of their married life on farms in the Bedford
area. He united with the
Methodist Church at Conway in his youth, transferring his membership
to the Bedford Methodist Church after his marriage.
He was a member of Bedford Post of the American Legion and a
charter member of World War I Barracks. Surviving
with the wife are the two daughters and their families, Mr. and Mrs.
James Cox, Linda, Larry and
David of Madrid, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Mullen, Stephen,
Sandra, Richard, William, Rebecca and Brenda of Bedford;
also one brother, Fern B.

Rites Held Here For Ollie Keith Funeral
services for Ollie Forest
Keith, 78, long time Bedford resident, were held October
6 at the east Shum-Novinger Funeral Home with Mr. Carl Cummings and
Rev. J. Milton Kinney officiating.
Mr. Keith died October 2, 1965, at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Included in the
services was the following obituary: Ollie
Forest Keith, son of George
W. and Mary George Keith,
was born on a farm northwest of Bedford, Taylor County, Iowa, Feb. 16,
1887. He
attended the public schools of the county and grew to manhood in the
rural area near Bedford. Ollie
spent part of a year working in Louisiana as a young man and returned
to Bedford where on March 24, 1909, he was united in marriage to Ethel
E. [mma] Spurgeon at the
home of the bride's parents in Bedford, with the Rev. George Hendrickson
officiating. One son, George Max was born to bless their home. For
a year following their marriage they lived on a farm and then moved
into Bedford where they resided with the exception of one year they
lived in Canada. He
worked at various occupations in Bedford.
As a city marshal his duties included loving care provided the
horses, which were then used to pull the fire fighting equipment. As a member of the fire department he
drove the horse-drawn equipment to answer fire alarms. For more than 52 years he faithfully served
as a member of the Bedford Fire Department. In
1917 he was employed as a carpenter by Roy Greenlee, a builder and general
contractor, and in later years he worked at this trade for himself. When
he was a young man he joined the Gilead Methodist Church and he was
a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Preceding
him in death were his parents; brothers, Orley, Clarence, James,
Herman, John, Ralph and
a brother who died in infancy. He
is survived by his wife, Ethel;
the son George Max Keith
and his wife, Juanita;
granddaughters, Bonita
and Denise, and a grandson, Stephen, all of Clinton, Iowa; a brother, Howard, of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Angie
Valentine of Gravity;
other relatives and friends. He
was a kind and a loving husband and father, friend and neighbor and
