and Martha Clark, was
born April 18, 1857, in Lee County, Ia., and died at Bedford, Iowa,
April 27, 1927, at the age of 70 years and nine days.
He grew to manhood in Lee County, removing to New Market in Taylor
County, in the year 1881. Here
he made his home for about sixteen years, after which he moved to Bedford,
Iowa, where he has since lived for thirty years.
He was engaged in the insurance business and was counted as one
of the community's best Christian men.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, having been
a member of the Official Board for many years.
He also acted as the Financial Secretary of the Church and was
engaged actively in the work of the Sunday school, faithfully attended
all the religious and social gatherings of the church and on many occasions
represented it in the District and Annual sessions of Conference.
His prayers, his council, and his fine Christian personality
have greatly influenced the affairs of the church for many years. On Sept. 20, 1884, he was united in marriage
to Cora McAlpin, and
to this union were born three daughters:
Stella, who
died at the age of nine years, Pearl,
now Mrs. Lester Thompson
of Bedford, Vesta at home with her mother and one son Glenn, of Marion, Iowa. He leaves also a sister, Eva Clark of Clarinda, Ia., and granddaughter, Barbara
Jean Clark, of Marion,
Ia. Mr. Clark was a widely known and highly
respected Christian gentleman whose loss will be felt throughout the
entire community. Funeral
