She was the eldest of twelve children of Tilda Marie and Swan Sherbeck. At the age of three, she with her younger sister and parents moved to a farm five miles west of Bedford, Iowa, her elementary education being acquired in the rural school in that neighborhood. -MRS. INGRAM DIED IN BURNING BARN-Mrs. Carol Ingram, nee Ruby Crawford, about 24 years of age, and mother of a year old baby, was burned to death in the barn at their farm home about four miles southwest of New Market, last Monday forenoon. After the barn had been consumed in the fire, the charred remains of Mrs. Ingram were gathered up from where she had fallen at about the center of the burning barn. She had evidently rushed there on discovery of the fire, to release a family driving horse that was in the building. It is presumed that she fell in a faint, either overcome by the excitement or by smoke and heat.

The horse whose rescue it is presumed she was attempting rushed from the barn through the side of its stall as it burned away, ran to the watering tank and fell dead. It was terribly burned before its escape.

Mr. Ingram, the husband, was working in a field just north of the house that forenoon about nine o'clock, when he detected smoke in the direction of hishouse. He hastened back that way with his team and by the time he reached the barn it was falling in.

Mrs. Ingram was not to be seen about the house and Mr. Ingram thought possibly she had gone into the field in search of him when she discovered the fire, so he went back to the field to look for her, thinking she might have fallen in faint. Coming back to the barn lots, he was looking into the buring heap that had once been the barn and noticed a heap of something that proved to be the almost totally destroyed body of Mrs. Ingram.
