He attended the New Market grade school all but his third year when he went to the Memory rural school. He was a 1933 graduate of New Market High School.

Kyle married Lolabelle Marguerite Karg on Christmas day of 1937. He continued to farm with his dad until he bought a farm east of New Market in 1944. He moved there in March, one week before their second child was born. Their three children were raised on that farm. Their children consisted of Clyde David, Julia Ann and Jackson Karg.

They sold the farm and moved to Clarinda in 1972. Kyle was a member of the New Market Baptist Church and then he joined the New Market Methodist Church. Besides farming, he was an elder in the New Market Baptist Church where he led Sunday School. Other jobs he held were driving a school bus, working at the Clarinda Mental Health Institute, selling feed, working for Green Bay Lumber Company and Lisle Corporation.

Upon retiring from Lisle's, he grew restless and worked part -time at McCunn Implement where he enjoyed educating the younger men about the older machinery. Kyle was a devoted husband and being an only child, he enjoyed the family get-togethers of his wife's nine siblings.

He was always very pleased when his own 3 children were all present at the same time for any holiday event. He also was very proud of the fact that portions of Memory Cemetery are on what used to be Hughes land. His first time of cultivating corn was on what is now the South addition and he told of herding the cows home at milking time from a pasture, what is now the West portion, where he will be laid to rest.

Kyle was devastated when his wife of 62 years plus died in 2000. He lived alone for a year, and then went to the Eiler House for a year, then to Goldenrod Manor where he enjoyed playing rummy with family and the nurse's aides. He kept his wittiness and sense of humor through his stay, even though his confusion brought him much anxiety.

Remaining to cherish his memory is his son, David and wife Karolyn, Clarinda; his daughter Julia and husband Phil Mattox, Sterling, Ill.; his son, Jack and wife Janice, Bellevue, Neb.; eight grandchildren and their spouses; 14 great- and five step great-grandchildren; three step great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; four brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews and friends.
