Mead Query [1972]
I am seeking information regarding my great-grandfather, Jashish or Josiah or Jabez Mead, and one of his sons, Lonny (Alonzo) Mead. Jabez Mead deserted his wife and children while they were quite young and nothing was heard from him until he grew old. The children were two sons, Lonny and Fayette, and four girls, Helen, Lucy, Emmaline and Anna, who was my grandfmother. I believe the children were born in Michigan but moved to New York where three of the girls married Cusick brothers. Fayette was killed in the Civil War and Lonny moved either to Oregon or Washington.
Jabez was born around 1810 and died Jun 1, 1889. He was taken care of in his old age by Lonny for a time and then went to my grandmother's who was then living in Gravity, Iowa. He is buried in Ladoga Cemetery near there.
