Daniel and Louisa Drumm 50th wedding anniversary
|
|
The Christmas festivities at the Daniel Drumm home in north Bedford
had an added interest this year from the fact that it was the occasion
of the golden anniversary of the marriage of Mr and Mrs Drumm. All
of the children and grandchildren of the immediate vicinity were
present to enjoy their Christmas hospitality and to congratulate
them upon having passed the half century mark of wedded life.
Both are well and strong, considering the weight of accumulated
years, and thoroughly enjoyed the day with their children. There
was but one thing to mar the perfect happiness of the occasion,
and that was the unavoidable absence of the two sons, William Drumm,
of Frederick, Okla., and E.L. Drumm, of Stillwater, Okla, and a
grandson, who lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mr Drumm was born in Licking county, Ohio 74 years ago, and came
with his parents to Knox county, Illinois when only one year old.
Mrs Drumm was born in Knox county, Illinois. Her father, Asa White,
being a prominent farmer in that county in Civil war times. After
their marriage in Illinois, Mr and Mrs Drumm removed to Kansas in
1888, where they lived six years, moving from there to a farm near
Hopkins, Mo, where they lived a few years, coming from there to
Taylor county where they have since resided, the last six years
having been spent in Bedford.
Five children are still left to them, L.N. Drumm, west of town,
Ed Drumm, near Conway, Mrs Bert Tracy of Maryville, Mo., and William
and E.L. Drumm of Oklahoma. They also have fourteen grandchildren
and two great grandchildren. The children who were present Christmas
presented their parents each with an elegant upholstered rocker,
and the two sons in Oklahoma sent a beautiful gold set of china.
Mr and Mrs Drumm have also been the recipients of numerous congratulations
messages from friends at a distance as well as hearty good wishes
from their many local friends. Bedford Times-Press, Bedford,
Iowa, Dec 30, 1913
