Thomas Allan Toland

Elder Thomas Allen Toland of the church of Stickney died May 7, 1928, aged 67. He was born in Ohio, October 1, 1861, brought by his parents to Tama, Ia., who were members of the Presbyterian Church.. There he grew to manhood and married. In 1898 he brought his family to Canistota. Having become a church member while a young man, he transferred his church membership and later was ordained an elder in that church. After 13 years' residence in Canistota and one year sojourn in Rapid City, he resided with his family in Aurora county. He ws one of the charter members of the church in Stickney, of which he was made an elder and thus served till his death. He loved his church and was faithful in looking after its best interests up to his last illness. He was survived by his wife, three children and nine grandchildren.

DEATH OF A FORMER CITIZEN
Mrs. B. C. Nash and children were called to Stickney last Wednesday on account of the serious illness of her father, T. A. Toland, who suffered for a month from gall stones and other complications. He was removed to a Mitchell hospital where he underwent an operation. He died at 1 o'clock Monday. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at Stickney and interment made in a local cemetery.

Six years ago Mr. Toland conducted an elevator in Lake Andes and was highly esteemed. He was a member of the Presbyterian church and Masonic fraternity. He leaves a wife, two sons and one daughter. Many friends here condole with the bereaved.
