Mrs. Michael Clark

Obituary from the Tama Newspaper dated Dec. 29 1898

DIED. - Mrs Michael Clark died, Saturday, December 25th, after an illness of several weeks from complication arising from childbirth. Deceased was born in Adeline, Illinois, June 1st, 1863, and was married to Michael Clark at Freeport, Illinois in 1881. Coming to Tama soon after and since made this her home. By her death eight daughters are left motherless. The funeral services were held Tuesday at the Catholic church, Rev. Carroll conducting the services, and the remains laid away to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Clark was a good woman, devoted to her family and the home will indeed be sad and lonely without her.

There is an error on the children it should read 2 boys and 6 girls, she died after the birth of my father.

There was a followup also in the Tama Newspaper at a later date:

DIED: - Mrs. M. H. Clark died Sunday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock, the funeral services were held Tuesday morning. Deaseased was an earnest and conscientious woman and leaves a husband and eight children to mourn her demise, among them a babe three weeks old. Michael Clark desires to return his sincere thanks to the kind friends who extended sympathy and aid to his household during the illness and burial of his wife.
