newspaper clipping 12-26-1901

"Charles T. Stewart was born in Hancock county, Indiana July 26th, 1829, and died at Independence, Iowa Dec 21st, 1901, aged 72 years, 4 months and 25 days. In his infancy, his parents removed to Montgomery county, Ind., where he lived intil 1853, when he removed to Iowa where he has since resided. Dec. 13, 1855 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Ann Saddler, who preceded him in death thirteen years. To them were born eight children, of whom one died in infancy. The others, four daughters and three sons, survive to mourn the death of their father. Mr. Stewart became a member of the United Brethren church here in Toledo sixteen years ago, under the pastorate of Rev. B. M. Long, uniting on profession of his faith in Christ. For many years he was a faithful attendant on the services of the church, but for some years he has not been a regular attendant because of his afflictions and other hindrances. For the past five years he was a great sufferer both in body and mind. During this time he has had his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Donaldson, in this city. The bereaved friends are comforted with the confidence that he has entered into rest after a life journey and struggle of over three score years and ten. They will have the sympathy of the community. The funeral was held in the United Brehren church last Tuesday morning, being conducted by the pastor, Dr. M. R. Drury, The interment was in Woodlawn cemetery."
